Welcome, Jet! Glad to have you here. I'm not quite an Ozzie, but I've set foot on your continent before. Twice. smile

Well, as far as I know, the upgrade is 75 €, which is definitely too much for me at the moment, but it the starter version really sucks I guess I'll be tempted to upgrade. I mean, you're not even able to change the background picture!

Anne, I just learned there are tools that will let you change the wallpaper in the Windows Starter version. It's called Oceanis Change Background W7. More info here: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/47 … arter.html

#505 Re: Joan of Arcadia » songs....problems » 11 Jun 11 :: 17:26

I'm not aware of ever seeing a list of the songs used on the DVDs. I know there are lists for the songs used on the TV show, but I think the problem with the DVDs is that they used a lot of songs that you can't officially buy (due to licensing reasons). But maybe someone here does actually know such a listing. I, unfortunately, don't.

Sorry, I forgot (again). I'll get on that in the next few days.

It's my "old" desktop from January 2008. But I gotta say, for the fact that it's more than 3 years old, it still works remarkably well. So I'm not complaining. smile

It seems to work fine for me, actually. Maybe I just got lucky...

Anyone know if Breakout Kings was renewed or cancelled? I read an article where it said it was cancelled, but I can't find it on any "cancelled TV shows" lists.. Would be a shame to see it go, I've grown quite attached.

Somehow we missed putting Chris's clip from Choose Connor up on the site. I've rectified that now: Chris's scene from Choose Connor

I must warn you, though. It's a pretty big spoiler for the movie, so watch at your own peril.

Here's the clip of Chris's scene from the movie. It's a pretty big spoiler, though. Choose Connor clip

To quote Coop from Nurse Jackie:

Because I realized we haven't lost the "Move Post" function after all. It's now hidden in the "Moderate Topic" option at the bottom of the screen, and (amazingly) it still works. (This will be accessible to admins and mods only, though.) My inner geek just wanted to share that. smile

Darn, you're right. What happened? I'm sure we had that clip on the site. I know I vidcapped it. Maybe I didn't upload it initially because it's a major spoiler for the movie? I don't know. I'll try to find it when I get home tonight and add it to the site.

#515 Re: Off Topic Stuff » Randomness » 29 May 11 :: 09:35

Yeah, we've been noticing it too. No idea why, though. Could be spammers, could also be that someone's linked to something on our message board from another website. It's kinda hard to tell, but I have a feeling those aren't all Chris fans.

#516 Re: Square Eyes » In Praise of Chris's Colleagues » 28 May 11 :: 09:52

Well, that's what I've read. Guess these mid-season shows are kinda unpredictable. I'm just glad it got a second season at all!

#517 Re: Off Topic Stuff » Randomness » 28 May 11 :: 00:05

The new Windows systems are really messy with the admin rights. Even in Windows 7, if you're logged in as administrator, you don't have all the admin rights. There's tricks to get around it, apparently, but that's only for the hardcore geeks. I mean, I get why they don't want to make the system accessible to the regular user who doesn't know jack about the inner workings of Windows, but I think it's preposterous to deny those users who would like to make tweaks access to their own, legal version of Windows.

And, yep, the Starter version pretty much sucks. Or so I've heard. Not that I have any firsthand experience.

You mean White Collar? Yeah, I've been on a crazy mad writing spree lately. But thanks for advertising my fics. *thumbs up* And I'm so glad you loved my fic. Not sure I'm really gonna go back to writing for Being Human, though. But who knows? Is it true that season 2 only airs in 2012? That's just crazy!

#519 Re: Square Eyes » In Praise of Chris's Colleagues » 25 May 11 :: 19:36

I'm not sure who of you is actually still watching Being Human, but I had this plot bunny hopping round my brain that eventually found its way onto paper. So here's my venture into the world of vampires, ghosts and werewolves: Downright Normal - by TeeJay

My laptop's called Mackenzie (after a Star Trek: New Frontier character), and he's been surprisingly well behaved so far (even though the character is a bit of a renegade). (And I hope this didn't jinx it.) My desktop is still called Rove, and he's been unfaithful once or twice, but generally means well behaves itself.

#521 Re: Square Eyes » Misc Stuff » 14 May 11 :: 21:50

Damn. I really would have loved to see a 2nd season for that show. *sigh* Just my luck to get attached to something that gets cancelled. Again.

#522 Re: Off Topic Stuff » Summer 2011 - Who's Got Plans? » 13 May 11 :: 08:33

I haven't planned anything until mid August. Will be going to Scotland with Soya for a week. But I've already done a lot of vacationing this year (Turkey, Copenhagen, Banbury...). At least I managed to get out of the 4th Investigator Meeting in Miami that was planned for the first weekend of June. I just really don't feel like taking another four day trip to the US where I'm not gonna see anything other than the inside of a hotel. Plus, June 2 is a bank holiday that I would have "lost" and June 4 is my mom's birthday.

Actually... I just heard the show's been cancelled: http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2011/0 … get/92184/  sad Anyone with a Twitter, they're trying to save the show: http://twitter.com/#!/SaveBreakingIn

#525 Re: Square Eyes » Breaking In (Adam F. Goldberg's new show) » 12 May 11 :: 18:36

The writing is great. The lines crack me up every time. There has not been one episode where there wasn't something that literally made me laugh out loud. And that rarely happens with me. I bow to Adam G. and his talented team. Can't wait to watch yesterday's episode! (That said, I loved last week's Breakout Kings ep too, especially the emotional Lloyd moment at the end.)
