Oh. Well, then you shouldn't read the story before you've also seen Season 2...
And here's a few photos from yesterday. My mom came to visit, together with my grandma and my other grandma's sister. We drove out to Schloss Benrath (Castle Benrath) and a really cute town called Zons.

Yeah, it's definitely cute. It's on the other side of the Rhine, about 20 minutes away. And you have to take the ferry to get there. It's a nice day trip. But it's also quite touristy on a beautiful day.

We saw a few German celebs there actually. But they're not very known abroad, I think. Well, I might post about that tomorrow after work. Now I really need to go to bed.

Hehe... Yeah, wouldn't that be nice? And all that just with a small compact digicam... Rob has this huge Canon SLR camera that I've been playing with when I was at his place. And it was great, except that you always need to carry around so much equipment for it. The camera itself isn't quite that handy either. I don't think I'm into photography enough to warrant purchasing one, but it would definitely be cool to have one. However, I'm perfectly happy with mine. It takes great pictures.

Okay, here are finally some pictures from my Berlin Trip.
Schloss Bellevue
Red Carpet Alert (You have three guesses who that wretched creature is )
At the beginning the Babelsberg Film Orchestra played some film themes. That was great. They played The Pink Panther Theme and even the Star Wars Theme, that was kinda cool.
Unfortunately the weather was not so great, but once we had rain and sun at the same time, and there was this really beautiful rainbow directly located over the castle.
This is the Federal President of Germany, Horst Köhler with his wife, Eva-Luise.
This is one of the music acts, the "Brenz Band". All members of this band are mentally handicapped (except the two band leaders). The band has existed for more than 35 years now and they are pretty successful.
This is a singer named Gayle Tufts. I didn't know her before, but she was great. She said she's from some town in Massachusetts and she talked in a funnyx German/English mixture.
Brandenburg Gate
German Reichstag. Where our laws are made.
"To The German People"
Alexanderplatz, World Time Clock.
Holocaust Memorial
Berlin Townhall Tower
Before we headed home we visited the Pergamon Museum. I took some pictures there as well.
The Ishtar Gate
Some details
I don't know exactly what that is, maybe it's made of tiles or something like that.

Thanks, Deb and shoothoops. Yeah, the rainbow was incredibly beautiful. It was a full rainbow. I haven't seen this very often. I took three pictures of it. It was a great situation. There was the music from the orchestra, the rain, the sun and then suddenly there was the rainbow. For a short time there were even two rainbows! But the second one was very light, I wasn't able to photograph it. My mom said we had Irish weather that evening.

Love the pictures. The rainbow is majorly cool, but I also love the picture of the holocaust memorial. So you did the whole grand sightseeing tour, huh? I've only been to Berlin once, and I didn't really see a lot. I'd love to go back some time and do some real sightseeing. Ah well, the day is young. I'll get to go back some time.

Definitely. Haha!
The funny thing is, when we made that sightseeing bus tour, the tourguide talked German and English and his accent was very Irish, so my mom asked him if he had been to Ireland once, and he said, "Yes, I lived there for a few years." That was kinda cool.
Oh, Tina, we can make the next Berlin Trip together, I definitely want to go back, there is so much more to see, one weekend is definitely not enough. LOL I mean, at least I got to go the the Pergamon Museum, that was a dream I had for a long time, ever since I read the book about it my favorite German author wrote. When I was there in September there was not really time for doing anything, so I just got to see the Memorial and the Checkpoint Charlie. This time I was at the memorial again, but we also visited the Museum, the Reichstag, Alexanderplatz, etc, etc. I love Berlin!
Oh, and by the way, we went to the famous "KaDeWe", that big shopping center in Berlin, and I bought you a little something. Going to send it on Saturday.

TeeJay, have you heard of the movie Midnight In The Garden Of Good And Evil? It was based on a very celebrated book, kind of a veiled true story about murder in high society Savannah, GA. John Cusack and Kevin Spacey play the leads. It's a crazy, wildly entertaining movie. Jude Law plays a gay hustler. You should see it.
Why?
Because we could conceivably drive to Savannah the weekend we're not (hopefully) at Dragon Con, if you wanted to. It's a long-ass drive and my car would need a n oil change and check-up. But it could be fun. We could stay across the street from the beach on Tybee Island fairly cheaply at... wait for it... a motel called The Chris.
Just an idea. It'd be hot as hell. But it's a gorgeous, photogenic town. The bench Forrest told his story from in Forrest Gump is in the town square.
Google Savannah and see if it sounds interesting at all.

No, haven't seen that movie. But the trip sounds great. I could drive too if you don't wanna drive the whole way. I don't mind hot. You're the one with the temperature problems. So you're saying I should watch that movie, huh? Let me see what I can do. I'd rather be at Dragon Con and meet the Fanboys guys, but this is a nice incentive if it doesn't happen. Also, if you have time off work during the week, what's stopping us from going then instead of the weekend?

I'm gonna work the Wednesdays. But we could conceivably go that first weekend. Go down there Sunday, come back Tuesday. If you watch the movie you will WANT to see Savannah. Otherwise, it's just another charming, moss-draped antebellum Southern town. Ho hum.
But whatever. Just an idea. Probably too far away anyhow.

We could always just go to Six Flags. If we do, Dave said he wants to come. He hasn't ridden Goliath yet.
Otherwise, there's not much to do unless you're really into the Civil War, which you're not. And the new Coke Museum, I guess.
Chattanooga, Tennesee's kinda fun. It's only about 100 miles away, takes about 90 minutes to get there. Lotsa cool, touristy things to do. We can go to Sticky Fingers BBQ and see if that super-cute waiter named Chris still works there. And we can mug people for their CHA stickers.

I was in NC two years ago. Very green and pretty there. We walked along the coast in Jacksonville and collected over 100 shark teeth one day, it was pretty awesome! Saw some 'gators in Wilmington too!
