Re: Just Friends

Hey, I guess I'm in the minority on this one because I paid to see it in the theatre on opening weekend and took my buddy Dave back to the theatre to see it again weeks later when it hit the second run theatre.  I can't say I love the movie, but I do like it a lot.  Guess that's because I really like Ryan Reynolds too.  Have ever since he was on the Canadian teen soap, "15", all those years ago.  I still believe he's gonna have a huge hit movie someday.  He just needs material that's as good as he is and he hasn't gotten it yet.  I loved him in Blade: Trinity, which is a pretty bad movie on the whole, but he's just great.  And one of these days I'm gonna get around to seeing the Amityville Horror remake --- even though the original movie and book scared me so bad as a kid I had to sleep with the lights on for a while. LOL!

So, yeah, I adore Chris in this movie with the girly screams and the goofy faces and that great, great line, "Dude, The Notebook is sooooo gay!".  Which it isn't!  I love that movie too!  Hey, Ryan Gosling.  Yummy.  And oh my God, do I love the extras on JF!  If you haven't watched them, you have to.  My avatar is actually from the Ken Doll clip.  It's hysterical!  And he's so damn cute in it.

Yeah, the extras are so cool. I love the Ken Doll quote. LOL I still have to laugh a lot when I watch it. big_smile The movie has its funny moments and they are worth watching it, no question about that.

Re: Just Friends

Tee Jay, I don't think I watched the extras, because that doesn't sound familiar.  I should have watched them, but I didn't think he'd be in them much.  The only comedy I can think of that I hated more than this one was Date Movie, which I only watched out of sheer loyalty to Alyson Hannigan.  Oh, maybe American Pie 3, which I also only watched out of loyalty to Alyson.  I wish she and Chris would stick to dramas.  I'm usually not amused by any comedy movies.  My sense of humor seems to be quite different from the majority of the American public.

Yes, actualy we vidcapped Chris's whole appearance in the JF DVD extras. Once you've seen our clips, as a Chris Marquette fan you don't need to watch the extras anymore because you've seen all of Chris that there is. smile So check them out. They're not great or anything, but Chris is so cute in them. He's almost as goofbally there as he was on the ROTN set, isn't he, Deb?

Yep. he's goofbally all right.  Witness The Body Shake.  LOL!

Hey, shrams, there's another thing we have in common.  I love Aly too!  I didn't bother with Date Movie but I did see all the Am Pie movies.  I liked her in all of them, but the movies are just trashy and stupid.  Do you watch How I Met Your Mother?  It was so cute this week with Lilly and Barney.

Re: Just Friends

Thanks, I'll check out the clips here instead of renting the movie again!

Hey, yeah, Deb, I think Aly was the best thing in all three American Pie movies.  I haven't been able to bring myself to watch How I Met Your Mother yet, because the only thing I hate, comedy-wise, more than movies are sitcoms.  It's gotten really good reviews, but I'm watching way too much TV now as it is.  I also missed her when she was on Veronica Mars, because I don't watch it, either.

So glad I can see the Chris-related extras here, soon as I have the time!

Re: Just Friends

Aly's Veronica Mars ep wasn't all that great as far as Aly content goes.  You didn't miss much.  I don't watch that show either, so I was kinda bored.  I also tend to shy away from sitcoms.  I prefer dramas.  Especially ones centered around characters and families.  I don't care much for cop shows or gimmick shows --- unless they are heavy on character.  Thats' what it's all about for me.   You mentioned Medium before.  That's probably my favorite drama right now.   Even though it's a gimmick show, it's a wonderfully character and family driven show.  That's what I like.

I am ultra-picky when it comes to sitcoms.  How I met your Mother is above average.  It's very clever and the dialog is whip-smart.  If you get a chance, check it out some time.  Did you ever watch Freaks & Geeks?  Really one of the best comedy/drama hour long shows in decades.  The guy that played Nick on F&G is Aly's fiance in How I Met Your Mother.  And Neal Patrick Harris steals the show almost weekly.

Re: Just Friends

This is just hilarious! They gave "Just Friends" another title in German. Now guess what they're calling it. Wild X-mas. Yeah, that's the title, even though it's English. I mean..... hello??? Why give this movie another English title? Why not call it "Wilde Weihnachten", which would be the translation of "wild Christmas"?? I don't get it.

It's still gonna be released on Dec 21, 2006 in Germany, though. Guess they decided to give it a stupid x-mas related title, so that people are of the illusion this movie is all about x-massy stuff and they need to see it during the holidays. But this movie couldn't be less about x-mas, right? Well, I mean, it plays around x-mas time, but that's really all there is to it.

The movie industry just baffles me sometimes.

Re: Just Friends

Oh God. Is that really true? yikes How did you find out?
I know I am repeating myself but ... this is another proof that the people who work in German movie industry don't have a clue at all. Like Tina said, the movie isn't about christmas. The only connection to christmas is that it plays around christmas time. But yeah, sometimes they choose different weird English titles for American movies instead of translating or leaving it. This is just embarassing. roll

Re: Just Friends

They released it around Christmas time here too last year.  Pretty common for movies that play aroung the holidays.  But that is a pretty stupid title.

Re: Just Friends

I found a German dubbed trailer:

http://www.moviemaze.de/media/trailer/d … t_high.mov

Chris is in it once or twice, but only in tiny bits. But somehow it doesn't sound like it's Ozan Ünal dubbing him. Or is it, Anne? His voice sounds so high-pitched... Uargh, I already hate it!

Re: Just Friends

No, it's not Ozan Ünal. But it's still a crappy voice. The German version of the movie SUCKS! Even more than the original version. LOL
Unfortunately the ham thing isn't in the trailer. That could have saved me money, because I really wanna know how they translated it.

Re: Just Friends

If they don't show it around here in English, I think I'll go and endure the dubbed version just for the pleasure of seeing Chris on the big screen for the very first time. Although... maybe I shouldn't and reserve my "first time" for something a little more special. Like.... Fanboys? Let's see.

I think, I'll wait until the DVD comes out here and rent it. I'm not going to spend money just for one sentence.

And yes Tina, the first time should be something special. big_smile

It is? I've only seen the one with the fat Chris Brander. Ah well, neither of them is great. (How can they be, Chris (Marquette) is not in them. wink)

Okay, wait a minute, they seem to be changing the posters around. This is the one Anne and I meant:

WildX-Mas-Poster.jpg

There's an official German website now too:
http://www.wild-x-mas.de/

It pretty much sucks, though... No photo or even mention of Chris. sad
