Oh, right, I forgot that piece of crap was theirs. It was such a stupid idea to begin with. It smelled like a flop from the get-go.

I think they were pushing it with Bruce.. I like Steve Carrell, he's hilarious, but with Evan, no-no. I didn't go see it, it just screamed box office blow-up from the trailers.

I LOVED Bruce Almighty. And I LOVE Steve Carrel. The very idea of this movie is terribly cynical. And the fact that they spent a rumored $200 million on it is just obscene. They could've made 40 movies like Alpha Dog for that kinda of cash!

I went and seen Bruce Almighty when it came out with a friend. I thought it was funny, but also kinda pushing it with what it was about, y'know.
Did Titanic cost 200 mill? I can't believe Evan did. I guess if you are going to spend that kinda money to make a movie, you better be positive that it will hold up.
Kinda ironic, but since when Evan came out and it was about Noah and the flood, it rained 21 days straight until it got out of number 1. So, while the previews were hot and the first(and only week) it was non-stop rain. Then gone, dry. It's still rained but every other day.
We live in Oklahoma, and the longest stretch without rain in the whole year has been 9 days.

I didn't wanna like Bruce, but I could not help myself. It was cute and sweet and it made me cry. I'm a sucker. Evan may damn near sink Universal. Pun intended.
Wow, that's a LOT of rain for you guys. Here in Atlanta, the weather is finally acting normal. Hot days, electrical storms that sometimes dump a lot of rain at rush hour (oh joy!). Occasional violently windy storm cells.

My poor rabbit, Art, is probably convinced my mom's trying to kill him. Everytime she thinks the weather clears up, she puts his top down, then it starts raining and storming again.
Then, when she tries to give him air and it is sunny, she leaves the top down too long, and since he has white fur, he gets sunburned really bad. His nose and ears turn red.
So, I'm sure he's terrified of her now.

Awwww, poor Art. I'm incredibly fond of bunnies. How are you ever going to get his nerves settled now?

Lots of green beans seem to do the trick.
And, about a year ago my cat traumatized him when she completely destroyed a bunny that had hopped in our backyard. The only thing left was it's tail and one ear. We could hear Art screaming, it took us awhile to figure out what it was since we've never heard a rabbit make any noise before, when we came out, there was my cat taking a bath and the remains of the bunny in front of Art's cage and him just sitting there totally still, eyes as wide as they could be. I swear, he stopped what he was doing every time he seen my cat afterwards.

I don't doubt it. Rabbits are not stupid. Most people just don't understand them. My heart goes out to Art. He witnessed what in his mind was an horrific murder. Fortunately, trauma fades over time.

I used to think my rat Oscar though I tried to kill him when I was gave him a bath. He didn't like that. But somehow it turned out that he thought I rescued him. LOL

lol. Cute. We used to have a rat, but my mom made me get rid of him and she returned him to the pet store because she was scared of it. We've had mice before, but we can't have a rat.

Oh, he died nine years ago, sorry. But he got really old for a rat and he didn't die of cancer.

Oh, sorry. One of my old hamster's I had that my uncle gave me, his name was Kramer, lived to be 4. His hair was falling out and he was going blind. Poor guy. I remember though, everytime he got out of his cage he wouldn't run off someplace, he'd always try to find you. He used curl up and sleep with me on the couch. And my cousin said he was vicous...

I FINALLY sat down last night and watched this film. It's still kinda sinking in but I will say that I liked it.
I honestly didn't know much about it other than JT was in it, along w/ Chris, and it was based on a true story regarding a murder.
The characters themselves weren't very appealing to me and I mean that as a compliment to the writing and the acting. (I did find them to be intriguing though) I don't really hang out with "those type of guys", but I have worked with guys like that when I managed a Pizza Hut many long years ago. So I had images of old employees running through my head as I was watching this...of course they didn't kill anyone as far as I know, but they were basically just a group of guys, with parents who didn't give a crap, or were never even in the picture...who just wanted to sit around and smoke pot and play video games all day, and then party all night. They worked a part time job to support this habit. Point being, this is a lifestyle that I do not live, yet I have been around and have seen first hand, so I found myself being sucked into the character's lives, curious as to how the story would pan out. I was constantly asking myself throughout the film, "What would I have done in this situation?". What would my friends have done, etc...
I was very skeptical about JT in this movie. I'll admit, I hated the whole Boy Band craze a few years back and JT's solo stuff just isn't appealing to me either so I guess I unfairly judged him as an actor before ever seeing his work. Well, I was pleasantly surprised. He impressed me. I didn't really care for his character at the beginning, but as the story played on, I guess you could say I was concerned about his "fate" and believed his sincerity, even up until the end when he was putting the tape on Zack. That was a brutal and emotional scene.
I thought Ben Foster was great as well. Something about his performance in X3 turned me off on him, I think it was the way he over-exaggerated his actions while flying, and the whole jumping out the building scene--no biggie I guess,...regardless, he was nothing like
Warren Worthington the 3rd in Alpha Dog!! He seriously looked like he was strung out throughout the whole film. He had the perfect look, the mood swings, the violent outbursts. Hats off to Ben-He owned that part!
and of course that leads us to our man Chris. I've seen a lot of pics on the site of his Keith character and was looking forward to see how he pulled it off. Well, I thought he was great. Whenever I would hang out with a couple of my friends back in college, one of them had a younger brother who was always acting goofy and clowning around, but yet he was still kinda cool..that's who Keith reminds me of: The funny, nerdy little brother who you actually don't mind having around. Haha.
There were a couple of times where I was asking myself, is that really Chris playing him?? He looks so different from the Linus I know! LOL. He was awesome and the scene at the end when he hugged Zack was heart wrenching. Good stuff.
Well, those are just my 'quick' thoughts after watching it. I wanted to go through the 30+ pages on this thread to see what everyone else had to say, so I'll try and check that out over the next couple of days. Like I said, it's still kinda soaking in right now, but I mainly just wanted to share my thoughts real quick with you guys.:D

It good that you liked it. I am with you on the whole JT thing. I was never a fan of his, but his preformance in this movie was really good. That whole scene on the hill to me was really good, as well the hug was emotional. I also like how they showed Kieth's reaction to the gunshot. It was very natural.

Great, Sean. Thanks for posting your thoughts. I know what you mean about it taking a while to sink in. I had a 70 mile drive home from University Of Georgia back in November when I saw it for the first time and I could not shut up about it. Luckily, my friend Dave is used to me yammering on about stuff. It took me about 3 viewings for it to all click in my head.
You commented on Chris's last scene in the movie. How'd you like his first one? With the obscene gestures and all. Cracks me up every single time.

Thanks so much for your thoughts, Sean. I felt a lot like you when I first saw the movie. I too was impressed with JT's acting, and I thought everyone else was great too, especially Ben Foster!
I posted my own review after seeing the movie for the first time. Here's a shortcut if you wanna check it out, Sean:

Yeah, I had similar feelings too. I was not that convinced about JT's acting at first but after the movie I was quite impressed. Same with Sean Hatosy. I didn't like the character, but his acting was really great.

Chris' first scene was hilarious. That's when I was 1st questioning if that was really him, because he just looked so much different.
I'll have to check out your your reviews. I'd love to hear what your thoughts were. I'm not that great on writing reviews for movies, but I do like to watch them regardless of the genre and I'm glad I took the time to check this one out.

I bought Black Snake Moan on dvd because of Justin is in it and he gave a very good performance in AD.
Well, he's good in BSM, but in my opinion not as good as he was in AD.
By the ads I am sure many thought this film was wall to wall sex, and really it isn't. There is only 2 real sex scenes, one with Ricci and Justin at the very beginning of the film and the other with Ricci and a guy. The other is a scene where she tries to have sex with a young man, but you never see it. It's really about Ricci and SL Jackson.
I think it's a very good film.

I was leery of it till I read some reviews. Now, I think I'd like to see it too. If you say it's good, Illinois, I'm definitely intrigued.

I just reposted The Truth About Alpha Dog on IMDb. They killed a ton of posts, just because the board was so long and full of crap. I made a new mega-post in two parts under the title, "The Marquette-Skewed AD Review".
