Ah, I'm with you Mutant. The new Harry Potter book is the reason I've been MIA these past few days. I didn't pick up my copy until a couple of days ago, but since I've had it I can barely put it down. Too bad my work schedule keeps getting in the way

Brenna, we need your web archeology skillz badly! Go read my post in the Fanboys thread about Chris's appearance at San Diego Comic Con tonight.

I'm still reading the new book. I'm about halfway through. Just don't have enough time to read it all in one go. But I'm reading in that book every day.
To those who say they only watch the movies, that's fair enough. But the books, while not exactly being literary masterpieces (they are children's books after all), they're really very good, light entertainment. And there are definitely adult "themes" (no, not that kind) in there. I really enjoy the books immensely. You can just dive in and forget the real world for a while when you read about Harry and the gang. (Though I thought the beginning of the 4th book was a little tedious.)
The imagery is wonderful, and the movies kinda spoil that if you've seen them before you read the books. I can still separate some of it because somehow when I read, "my" Hogwarts looks different from what they show in the movies. But unfortunately now it's starting to mingle in my mind.
For those of you who wanna catch up one day, I'm sure there's gonna be an omnibus edition some time in the future.

I just don't have time for much fiction with my daily real-world reading. When I can find the time to escape into a novel, I have my favorite authors I like to read. If I don't even have much of a chance to read people I love, why would I wanna get into a series of huge books that already have movies being made from them?

Deb, I'll try my best. I know back in Arizona I could have taped it and then transferred it to my computer, but I don't have the same resources here
I'll take a look around today and see what I can find

I rather read the books than watching the movies. Really. To me Harry and all the other characters look very different as they do in the movies. But well, I am late, I am still reading book 5 (though the end is near). But I have book 7 as a PDF version, so Thank God, I don't have to wait until the paperback comes out. But I'm going to buy it anyway, because I want my collection to be complete.

I have seen every movie except The Prizoner of Asaban ansd The Goblet of Fire.

Prisoner of Azkaban was good. The only problem with Goblet Of Fire was that they left alot out. But since the book is so thick, and they have to have a certain amount of time for the movies, I can look past it. I try not to compare the books and movies too closely because the films will never be like the books.

Yeah, I do not compare them either. It's just not possible for me. Like I said, the characters look completely different in my imagination.

i will only get my copy of the last book this weekend. everywhere i look is like everyone aleady knows what happens but me. i can't wait to read it!!!

I hear J.K. Rowling, besides working on two new different books, might do a encyclopedia book that ties up any loose ends and what happens to all the characters from Harry Potter. I hope she decides to do it. I'd buy it.

Half Blood Prince is a really good book. The seventh book is really great. It's like surprises and unexpected events throughout. Alot of mourning I did reading Deathly Hallows.:(
Hope you enjoy them.

all I did was read the last part of the last book. Just cause of the whole rumors that she was going to kill Harry

I can't believe you just read the last part. Blasphemer!
People waited 3 hours for their books to read what happens and you just get and read the last parts. My God, herromance.
You're like my mom. She watches the movies, so I don't tell her what happens in the books, but when I was done she had to know if he had lived or not. So that's all I would tell her. ~I am not posting anything further that would give away potential spoilers for those who are reading the book~

have you seen the last book? it is huge. I am reading 2 other books at the moment. I dont like reading Harry potter then watching it. It gives me a sort of Deja vu thing. Like I have already seen the movie. It was just more or less so I could know because that is what everyone was wondering. Sorry

Seen it? I've read it. I waited 3 hours to get my book. I finally got it at 2:00 in the morning. Took me only 2 days to read it. I watch the movies, but I don't really get a Deja Vu with it.
I understand you reading who won. Even people who don't read the books or watch the movies wondered what happened.

Yeah I always get that feeling. Like with the one I just saw in theaters...I hate being like hey I have seen this. Wait! no I just read it.

lol. I felt like that when I watched Bully for the first time. i bought the book and movie the same night and read the book first then watched the movie soon after. I was like, "Oh, yeah, I remember this. Wait, I have never even watched this movie..."
But the script stayed real close to the book. Unlike Harry Potter, where they have to cut out some stuff. Which is understandable. I fhtey stayed true to the books the movies, especiallly the next few and last two, would be like 4 hours long at least.

Okay, I'm staying out of this thread now because it's getting way too spoilery. I didn't read the last few posts because I just REALLY hate spoilers--no matter if for movies, TV shows or books.
I'll come back when I've finished with book 7. Should we slap a spoiler warning in the title? I'd hate for people to get spoiled about book 7.

I'm about to finish book six, so I guess I'll be reading book 7 during the weekend. Yay! :dancing:
And no, I don't want to be spoiled either.

No spoilers but I read an analysis of what happens yesterday. Pretty awesome. Looking forward to seeing a movie of it. In like 5 years.
