Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

I'm planning to re-buy Elizabethtown (since my brother lost the DVD and doesn't want to admit it ), and I am also planning to get Stephanie Daley (finally!!!) and Freedom Writers. These are the most important ones at the moment.

The first one is a blind buy. The Sum of all Fears I bought because I recently bought the 3 pack of the Jack Ryan films. Used Cars I bought because I like Kurt Russell and Robert Zemeckis.

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

Accepted is HORRIBLE.  Honestly, I couldn't believe how bad it is.  I only watched it because I find Justin Long utterly adorable.  After it was over, all I could think about was that I can't believe I made it all the way through.  It's good that you only paid $3 for it Illinois.  I'm lucky that I caught it on cable and paid nothing at all.

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

I don't know Accepted but I tend to agree with Deb. It looks like one of these really stupid teen comedies. (Sorry to all the fans of that movie.)

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

I totally agree with Deb, it's pretty horrible. I love Jonah Hill and Justin Long, but the movie just sucked.

Yet somehow I have a copy of it...no clue how that happened.

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

Watched Accepted and I liked it. It's not like the American Pie films. I don't consider it a "stupid teen comedy".

I will say that I don't think the premise is completely believable with 'B' being able to start this College or the ruling of the State board is based on any sort of reality, but there are some very funny parts in the film.

I really liked Lewis Black in this.

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

Well, no, the script would still suck.  If Jonah Hill can't make it funny, it's obviously crap.

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

Yeah, if a movie sucks it sucks.  The acting doesn't mean anything if a movie's just bad.  Al Pacino could be in that movie, it would still suck... well, it would probably be really funny.  You know what I mean.

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

Yeah, I still don't like Freddy vs. Jason, although it has Chris in it. Laura's right, it's not only the acting what makes a movie a good movie.

I want to see Live Free Or Die Hard. Timothy Oliphant rocks! ;]

I like Freddy VS. Jason. Chris is in it so as long as hes in it I don't care. Hes hot so he makes up for the movie being stupid.

Kiss The Girls is excellent, haven't seen Along Came Spider.  Illinois, I'd like to hear more of your opinions of the blind buys you make once you get to watch the DVDs.

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

Watched Live Free or Die Hard yesterday.

Very good action film. So much better than Die Hard with a Vengeance.

My favorite fight scene is where McClane and the Asian lady fight at the power plant/control center. So glad that they didn't shy away from having McClane hit her and the scene where they are fighting in the SUV in the elevator shaft is great.

The truck vs. the jet has great fx, but is bordering on being unbelievable especially with McClane jumping off the jet and landing on the pavement below.

I wish the final scene between McClane and the main bad guy was longer. No real fight scene between them and the bad guys death is just to quick. I wanted to see a hand to hand fight between them instead of that quick death.

hmm yeah it was a pretty bad movie, but I think Chris might just cut it when it comes to being hot enough to make up for the crap quality of the movie

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

Just got back from Wal-mart and got these for $2.96 each.

I couldn't find the $5.88 titles and I wasn't even going to try to get into electronics (it was crammed full).

Those 3 I've seen before.

The next 2 are blind buys.

I would have gotten In Good Company and Alexander: Director's Cut but both were in Full Screen.

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

Zathura is pretty good family film. Much like Jumanji. The kid actors did very well especially the one that played Walter. I didn't expect the twist ending at the end though regarding the astronaut. I liked it very much, not bad for $3.00.

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

I DID IT!
I just bought Stephanie Daley from amazon! I know it's actually way too expensive, but I decided that I am going to afford it as a present for myself because I am having a job now. big_smile With a little luck, it'll arrive just in time when my first paycheck will arrive. And I am happy already! smile
