Really?? Are you in 7th or 8th grade? I miss those days, but only because I had no homework. Now I can't wait to graduate and go to college. I'm tired of drama, fakes, and stupid teachers that baby you.

I'm in the 7th. And I dont like most of my teachers.

I know! I really want to do it, but then I don't because of the fact that I will be there with people I probably don't and won't like (I dislike most of the gals in my major ;/), so maybe it's better to just travel abroad on my own when I'm done with college- more freedom too, I guess. A lot of people say studying abroad was one of the best things they've done, but I'll just travel abroad than study abroad
And shoothoops! You're just the youngest thing! I'm sorry that you don't like your teachers; time is going by so fast anyway, so before you know it, you'll be promoting to the 9th grade.

Adam: "No way. Why?
Joan: "Because we're subdefectives and it'd be like deserting the army or something."
Adam: "Oh, no. I don't care if you're a cheerleader, subdefective, or whatever. I just like hanging out with you because.. you're Jane."

Just wanted to update and say I am going to study abroad after all. However, I still need to get all the facts first because I'm a little confuzzled.

Good for you! I think that is a great idea. For one, everyone says they'd like to travel abroad on their own after college, but how many people do you know that actually does. Life seems to just get in the way. This way you are jumping right in and doing in, and not just thinking about it. I am proud of you. Congratulations.

That is actually why I am doing it. I met a girl who graduated college two years ago and she told me she thought she'd have time to travel some other time as well, but like you said, life got in the way. Thank you so much
What about you? Have you traveled/studied abroad? If so, how was it?

Nope. I went to university in Toronto, my parents moved to Ottawa my second year. So I was sorta on my own. As far as travelling goes. I have been to Playa Del Carmen (Mexico) and on my honeymoon we (my husband, my cousin and I) went to Italy (mainly Rome and a day trip to Florence) Greece - Athens, Santorini, Mykonos, and Crete, and the south of France - Cannes, Nice and Monte Carlo for three weeks. We had a great time, but I fought with my cousin a bit and wouldn't have minded more alone honeymoon time. Five years later and we haven't been outside of Canada again (Vancouver and Newfoundland rock though). Hopefully soon, sans baby too. Momma needs a beach break! How about you? Or anyone else? Maybe we can start a travel thread, with recommedations and where to avoid.

TeeJay's very well-traveled. I've been several places inside the US and to Canada, but that's it for me.

Dang, you've practically been everywhere! I totally know what you mean about a "beach break" I haven't been anywhere, really- 'cept TJ (Tijuana, Mexico). It's fun, great service, cheap drinks, but bathrooms... not so grand.
Yeah, Deb, what about you? We should start a traveling thread because whoa, this is a music thread! I didn't notice ;x

Aww, I'd love to go to Canada solely just to hear people speak. Nah, I'm not making fun at all, Donna; I really enjoy how Canadians speak.

I think Cali has wayy too much traffic. There's too many rude people there and soo much pollution. It's okay to visit though.

There's a thread called Road Trip that has lots of travel stories in it. Including TeeJay coming here to Atlanta to see me. It's here on the OT board.
In my experience, Canadians are like the nicest people ever. I'm not just saying that. Everywhere we went, people were so sweet.

Lucky when we become an island?! Well, I have hopes that maybe that won't really happen, but it is California and major earthquakes tend to happen every-so-often, but you never know.
Anyway, so you haven't been to the states at all though? You didn't mention it, but I thought maybe you forgot a state or something. I think it's very cool you went to Crete! So much history there! Actually, all countries have history, haha.

A lot of people keep telling me that! I actually don't think traffic is that bad here. However, I do tend to take side streets, hah. And I have heard a lot of people talking about the rude people, but it really depends where you go/went. No offense to anyone who is from around this area, but usually it's OC/richy neighborhood areas. It makes sense for any state/country since better off people tend to look down upon those that aren't like them anyway.
It's just A LOT of variety of people here. There's people here who lack sarcasm so when you joke around, you can seriously hear a pin drop. When I came to college, I started to doubt my sense of humor, lol.

I love San Diego, Soph. Just not LA. There was a time when I hoped to move to SD. But you know what? The more I travel, the more I love Atlanta. I always get homesick when I leave it. Well, except when I went to Michigan to visit my friend Elaine and we drove up into Canada. I never felt so comfortable anywhere else I ever visited.

How unfair is it that I've been waiting for Nickelback to play in Germany forever and now that they're finally coming, it'll be at the same time as the Toronto Film Fest (Sep 9). Grmpf. Oh well, let's hope Nickelback come back for another tour next year or so...

Yeah, that sucks! They're even coming to Stuttgart. We should write them a letter and tell them to come next year. LOL

Very top 40 list you've got there, illinoisguy, in general I don't like rap, hip hop, heavy metal or country either. Alt Country is a different story though, now there's some good music.
Offline
A few songs there might make my list but in general I am a very alternative/rock music type of girl. But in the right mood I like a little dance/hip hop to get my booty shakin'.

I love old school hip hop. I was just building my YouTube "Jukebox" the other night and made sure I got all those great old Run DMC songs in there. Dave and I saw Run DMC live back in the 80's. Great show! I also love most of the songs on the Alpha Dog soundtrack by TechN9ne. Big fan of Queen Latifah.
I like all kinds of music really. Can't stand most country, but like Susanna says, alt country is pretty good. I love Mary-Chapin Carpenter, for example.
My taste runs mostly to roots rock like BoDeans; progressive rock like Gentle Giant; progressive pop like The Bears; alt rock like Fuel; and whatever the heck Tool and A Pefect Cirle are. I'm all over the place. But one thing you will rarely find me enjoying is commercial pop. I cannot stand commercial radio and the garbage that reaches the top of the charts. Thank God for XM radio. I couldn't even tell you who's popular these days.
