Finally was able to score a copy. I haven't watched it yet, but once I do I'll let you know what I think of it.

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

Watched I am Legend today.

I thought it was good, but it's not a film I'll watch often. Of course the saddest part was with the dog. But what kind of bugged me is that Smith's character kind of went borderline nutty. If he didn't worry about the damn mannequin he wouldn't have fallen into the trap and of course the dog wouldn't have gotten infected. So it was his own fault what happened to the dog. I really wish that didn't have to happen to the dog.

The ending is a downer.

I don't know if I should tell you about the alternate ending. But I will say that in a strange way it was touching with the main zombie thing and the cured "girlfriend" being reunited.

Will Smith is great in the film.

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

Yeah, I agree about Sam, Illinois.  I always hate it when the dog meets an ugly fate.  I really wanna see the alternate cut.  See if I like it any better.  I really enjoyed a lot of the movie, but I don't see getting stuck watching it every time it comes on TV like I do with I, Robot or even Independence Day.  I can't wait for Pursuit Of Happyness to start running on cable.  Wonder how many times I'll see that one.  I love Will when the movie's good.

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

The movie is the same in both versions until the things invade his house and the 3 of them go down to the lab and hide behind the plexiglass. Everything is the same until the main zombie guy starts to crash into the glass, after a while he stops and that is when it changes from the theatrical cut.

I could describe it to you more if you want.

I watched Southland Tales yesterday and a few things best describes it.
Weird, strange and emotional.

And I really liked it and it goes into my list of my favorite films of all time.

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

Southland is often described as a film that you either love or you hate it, there really is no in between. I fall into the love it group.

Some say that you need to read the graphic prequel novels, but I didn't and I understood it.

Granted that at times it is confusing and hard to follow, but I don't mind a film that makes you think. It is one of the best science-fiction films ever made. It's not a sci-fi film like Star Wars, so don't expect that.

There was much hype about the animated truck sex sequence, all that is is a commercial for a product. Also the JT music video type sequence is brilliant. The use of The Killers song fits and JT goes from creepy to tragic in just a few minutes. In fact I may say that he gives a performance equal to or even better than in AD. He's not in it much on screen, but that sequence is terrific imo.

Perhaps I'll create another topic to discuss the film.

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

Southland Tales sounds pretty interesting. Illinois' right--I read some reviews of people who loved it, and others who hated it. I'll have to check  it out. I'm always down for some Sci-Fi!
I'm anxious to see the alternate ending for I Am Legend as well. Were there any other extra scenes besides the alternate ending?

Here's my new additions:(I went Disney Crazy)
Heroes Season 1
Dumbo
Fox & the Hound
The Jungle Book
The Little Mermaid
The Tin Man
11:14
Beowulf
30 Days of Night
Bee Movie
Enchanted
Hitman
Atonement
The Deaths of Ian Stone
Wind Chill

I watched Enchanted and Atonement the other day.  Enchanted is hilarious, but very off beat.  When you watch Atonement, be sure to have your remote handy wink

Hehe, I'll have to check it out.
have any of you seen the Tin Man?  A friend recomended it. It's some kind of a Sci-Fi Channel remake of the Wizard of Oz.

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

One of my co-workers was raving about it when it aired so it must be pretty good.  She's got excellent taste.  She loves all the shows I watch, including JoA, Medium, Lost, ER, Bones, Prison Break, Grey's...  I trust her.  She said I'd love it so you probably would too, Sean.

I bought "Enchanted" last week, but haven't had the chance to watch it yet.  I'm really looking forward to it.  I'm gonna have to pick up "Tin Man" one of these days.  It really sounds like something I'd like.

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

No there are no more deleted scenes on I am Legend.

You get some digital comics on disc 1 and disc 2 is the complete alternate version with the alternate ending.

I went to Best Buy yesterday and they were basically sold out of the Steelbook.
