Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

Very cool, Thanks Illinois!
One of my gripes about the movie was wanting more, so I'm even more curious to check it out now.

I bought this one for €7 yesterday. I don't know the movie yet, but Rob kept talking about it, so I got curious.

Yeah, that's just a tiny bit more than it would cost to rent it.

I think I watched that movie on TV once, but it was late and I fell asleep. LOL

I saw The Others on cable once. I thought it was a very good film. Good twist at the end too. (Which some may see coming from the beginning).

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

Just watched Enchanted. I thought it was an ok film. I was really hoping for more of a comedy, kid of like a fish out of water story. It had some of that at the very beginning but they kind of screwed up a little. For instance during the Happy working Song how did she know what a vacuum was? Or when she cooked breakfast, how did she know how to operate modern appliances/stove?

The ending was kind of a letdown, the dragon fx weren't up to par and I didn't really like the talking dragon at all. The ending wasn't thrilling to me.

Maybe I'm looking at it from a guy's point of view, but on a scale of 1-10 I would likely give the film a 6.5.

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

I think you might be looking too far into it with the vacuum/oven thing.  Remember, it is a kid's movie and they can't sit through someone kicking a vacuum to make it start for fifteen minutes tongue   When Edward was so confused about the TV and spinning doors, I just thought he came off as kind of an idiot.

The ending was weird, I thought the dragon was sorta pointless other than having Gisele save McDreamy.

I kind of thought that she was much more menacing as just a regular evil lady, once she turned into a CGI talking dragon it all went away for me.

As far as 'McDreamy" I don't see all the fuss, and the name reminds me of McDonald's. But that's just me.

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

I still haven't seen either one of the "Kill Bill" movies!  One of these days I'm gonna have to do it.  They look fun.

I loved "Breach"!  I'd rented it several times and was really happy when I found a good used copy in Blockbuster's bargain bin for $3.99.  Chris Cooper and Laura Linney (those alliterative rascals wink ) are always amazing.  Ryan Phillipe did a really good job, and Caroline Dhavernas (who starred in "Wonderfalls") was terrific playing his wife.

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

I held off on buying the Kill Bill films because there was supposed to have been a very nice set called "The Whole Bloody Affair" or something close to that. But the Weinstein company never released it and no news about it's release. So for $10 total it's not a bad deal. I've seen them on cable before but I can imagine how much has been edited out even for basic cable.

Breach is a movie I wanted for a long time, but it wasn't a must buy the first week of release. So I just waited till it got really cheap.

The stickers from Circuit City shows the following.
Breach $19.99
Kill Bill films $14.99 each.
So instead of $50, I paid $15.

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

There's a Kill Bill 1 & 2 box in Germany, not sure if hot-linking to the image will work:

kill_bill_1_2_box_bild_1.jpg

It's not the same as the "Whole Bloody Affair" one. These are the special features:

Kill Bill - Volume 1
   1. Making Of

Kill Bill - Volume 2
   1. Making of Kill Bill - Volume 2
   2. Gig of the band CHINGON at the premiere of Kill Bill Volume 2
   3. Additional scene: Damoe

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

Got this from the garage sale for 25 cents, opened but each keep case was still sealed. So basically brand new.
0009600916099_500X500.jpg

Can't find a artwork, but also got a double feature from Digiview, "Creature from the Haunted Sea/ She Gods of Shark Reef.

I watched Creature and it was just so bad it was funny. The creature looks like Mr. Hanky (South Park) coming out of the water.

Here is a pic of the creature.

I also got another Digiview dvd called Omega Cop, which for a low budget action film isn't too bad. Not great, well far from great, but a dumb action film.

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

Just got this from Target
1394278h.jpg

It's the "regular" version.  They had the special edition with a free script, but I didn't get it... even though I paced around the electronics area for about fifteen minutes holding both.  When I came home with the one I bought my mom called me an idiot for not buying the special edition.
