Re: Twilight (contains spoilers for all books and the movies)

Why did I know until just now that Nikki Reed is in this?

I don't know... because I did post that she's playing one of Edward's sisters a while ago.  Did you watch the first video I posted? She has awfully big shoes to fill, playing Rosalie wink

No, I haven't paid that close attention to the whole thing.  But I like Nikki a lot.  And with Mike in there too, damn, I guess I'll have to see it.

Well, Rosalie is impossibly beautiful and very often is kind of a bitch, but usually just because she's protective of her family.  I honestly think you'd love the movie, Deb... not only is it just a beautiful romance story, it's totally full of action too.

Well, at this point, I'd have to say I'm there.

Re: Twilight (contains spoilers for all books and the movies)

Oh yeah, Deb, I should probably warn you now about the pratfalls in Twilight... I don't really think there are any but Bella is really, truly the most accident prone person to ever walk the earth and live past the age of 9.  Of course, that means she falls.  Constantly.  But in the book they aren't for laughs 70% of the time.  The ones for laughs are in gym class, and gym class as a rule is inherently funny.

I'm just warning you, so you don't end up walking out of the movie in disgust because of all the "girly pratfalls".

Well, there's a big difference between a character trait and a stupid cliche played for laughs.

Looks really exciting! I haven't read the books, but I will most definitely consider watching the movie(s) if they show here without dubbing.

Re: Twilight (contains spoilers for all books and the movies)

I'm not a Twilight fan, so it's probably not my place to judge, but I like those fan-made posters you posted a while ago better than this one. It's interesting to read the opinions on the LiveJournal that you posted a link to. Seems that people either love or hate the poster.

Re: Twilight (contains spoilers for all books and the movies)

I think the fan made ones are better too.  But I'm not sure if this is the poster there's apparently gonna be at least three.

Personally, I don't love or hate it.  The excitement is what got me, and probably a lot of the others.  Some fans (including me) don't really give a crap what it looks like, as long as we have it.  It means the movie is just that much closer tongue

Re: Twilight (contains spoilers for all books and the movies)

Some people on the LJ page say the trailer looks like the movie will turn out a very bad B-movie. I personally didn't think so, though.

Re: Twilight (contains spoilers for all books and the movies)

Those people are most likely still holding grudges with the casting.  A good percentage of the fandom will never be able to accept Robert Pattinson as Edward.

Or it could be because the trailer doesn't show what the book/movie is really about.  Like they're trying to sell something that just isn't there, but I think they got across that it is an action/romance movie.  They just made it seem like there was more action than romance, which isn't how it is.

Re: Twilight (contains spoilers for all books and the movies)

Who does everyone think Bella and Edward should be played by?? I think a lot of people have their own thoughts on who they picture as the lead characters in their head. For me it's definitely Amber Tambyln and Chris Marquette, hands down. No question about it!  : )

Re: Twilight (contains spoilers for all books and the movies)

I honestly don't know why people are still talking about who the cast should be, everywhere I go Twilight related people are still bitching about the cast. roll  The movie's done filming, it's Kris and Rob, nothing's gonna change that.

But before the movie, I didn't really see anybody in the parts, I just made up what they looked like.  But my original Bella looked like Alexis Bledel (with brown eyes instead of blue) and Edward looked like a mix of Chris, Drew Fuller and Henry Cavill (Chris' face, Drew's hair and Henry's body).   All four of them are too old now though and it would be kinda hard to get Chris, Drew and Henry to morph into my dream super boy.

I'm perfectly happy with Kris and Rob though, when I re-read it I saw them.

Re: Twilight (contains spoilers for all books and the movies)

Rob Pattinson did an interview with G4, he talks a little bit about all the hate he got in the beginning but he's so adorably funny in it:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TeqQR62ok20

And here's his summary of the Edward/Bella relationship, which I feel sums everything up very well: "Well, there's definitely something wrong with her, and there's very obviously something wrong with me"

Re: Twilight (contains spoilers for all books and the movies)

We're getting four movies!  Well, if Twilight does well at the box office like it's expected, Summit Films and MTV Movies announced they'll be making movies for all four (three, so far) books in the series, but the last book is being released months before the first movie, so they won't have to sit around and wait for it.   And if all four movies get made, they'll most likely be filmed simultaneously to make sure no one ages drastically between films.  Because... having a cast where a majority of the main characters can't age past 17-23, actors aging can be a problem.

The only draw back is that Taylor Lautner (Jacob) will need to do some major bulking up and get rid of that baby-faced little boy look.  He better start eating his Wheaties now.   But I think having a skinny Jacob would be better than having the Cullens age.

Article here.

Just to followup on the discussion earlier about cast interviews -- MTV did, indeed, interview Michael. It will be featured in the next "Twilight Tuesday." Look for it here:

Re: Twilight (contains spoilers for all books and the movies)

Gah, I'm so excited for this that I could eat my socks.  I just read the first book, last week, and am waiting for the next books to come in the mail.  (Should've just gone to walmart!)  I'm just annoyed that Taylor Lautner is going to be Jacob.  I was really excited to see a young, native actor get a role in this (possible huge) film.  Instead, it's this kid that just looks very generically ethnic.  Wikipedia claims he's part native, but doesn't even name the tribe?  I guess it shouldn't really matter, but it really bothers me.  We're such an unrepresented ethnic group so, I feel a little cheated.  It makes me wonder how hard they tried to find a native actor.  Hey, here's a novel idea.  How about trying the tribe, which the actor has to represent?  -_-;  /rant.

Re: Twilight (contains spoilers for all books and the movies)

Anyone can edit Wikipedia, so I don't believe that he's really Native.  To me, he looks a tiny bit Asian without his wig.  But I think they did try to find a Native actor... they didn't have a Jacob for the longest time, because they couldn't find a good guy for him, a couple days before the filming started there was an open casting call and that's how Taylor got the job.

I'm not exactly sure of Native American customs, but you said they should have tried to find a Quileute boy to play him.  Can filmmakers do that?   Like, just walk on to the reserve and ask for a teenage boy with long hair to be in their movie?  Because, that could sound a bit creepy.
