Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

That's pretty funny! Freddie and I laughed about it when I read it to her.

Safely arrived in the UK, by the way. Will drool about Chris a little with Freddie later on. She indulges me, like best friends would. smile

Yeah, I mean how cool is it that Nick Cassavetes is teasing a couple of fangirls about drooling over shirtlessness?  He is such a cool guy!!!

Have fun with Freddie!

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

Per Nick, the LA premiere of the movie is January 3rd.

We should:
1) ask Tisha if Chris is going to attend.
2) watch Wire Image and stuff for pics!

I asked Nick C. if he knows who'll be attending, but he hasn't answered yet.  I'll let you know if he does.

Well, Tisha seems to be MIA right now, but I don't blame her. Probably has better things to do than writing to a bunch of Dorquettes. smile Deb, if you wanna go ahead and ask, I'm all for it. (Just got home, everything's fine, I'll write more tomorrow.)

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

Why from me? Like, she's not gonna talk to you or something? I think you're just being paranoid. But I'd rather wait for her to send something about how her meeting with Chris was before we contact her again. Guess we'll just have to be a little more patient.

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

Nick C. posted today that he had a marketing meeting with Universal and they are expanding the release of AD from 1000 screens to 1500 screens.  That's a HUGE opening for this kind of film.  And reviews are starting to come out now.  All mostly positive.  Can't wait!

Hehe, hacky sack Keith is pretty funny, in a way. Although you don't really see much of him. The clips all seem pretty gritty. Can't wait to see the whole thing on the big screen.

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

Yes, obviously it easier to see on the big screen.  In fact, he's just incredibly distracting in that scene on the big screen.  You know, unless you like that Justin guy or something.

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

The follwing was originally posted over the course of the day by Nick Cassavetes on the AD board at IMDb.  This is what people are saying about Alpha Dog:

Re: Advance quotes
by larry-411     1 hour ago (Wed Dec 20 2006 19:39:38)

I put all the quotes into one post:

"This movie is on fire! A fiercely original shocker. 'Alpha Dog' is a riveting look at a lost generation, an unpredictable real-life account of a group of teens in freefall. A great young cast deliver performances that can only be described as explosive. Justin Timberlake is a complete revelation, creating a whole new career for himself as an actor. This edgy and startling film definitely starts the 2007 movie year off with a bang."
--Pete Hammond, MAXIM

=========================

(3 STARS) "Alpha Dog evolves into something serious and powerful. Anton Yelchin is superb... enormously compelling."
-- Jeff Craig, SIXTY SECOND PREVIEW

===================================

"Cassavetes is right on target with Alpha Dog... The film has so many things right about it - such as beautiful cinematography and a stand-out cast of up-and-comers like Shawn Hatosy, Anton Yelchin, and Justin Timberlake, whose sympathetic performance practically brings tears to our eyes..."
-- Claire Connors, BLACKBOOK

================================

"Originally conceived and powerful storytelling. A terrific ensemble cast. Stylishly gritty, raw and electrifying."
-- Prairie Miller, WBAI

===============================

"Intense and hip! Alpha Dog is a contemporary new school classic."
-- Shawn Edwards, WDAF-TV (FOX), Kansas City, MO

==================================

"Nick Cassavetes paints a shockingly realistic picture..."
-- GIANT MAGAZINE

==================================

"Like a young Scarface or Goodfellas"
--Fred Topel, CANMAG.COM

================================

And more comments:

Brooke Anderson -- CNN

What a very solid film, such a tragic story, so compelling and sad. Justin was amazing.

==========================

Robert Abele -- Freelance journalist

Liked the film very much. Incredibly intense and very well done. He said he was exhausted by all the unchecked hedonism but the gathering pace of the film was very palpable. Impressed by JT and said he sees him as a "real actor" now.

============================

Mike Waco -- Fox

A bit skeptical going in and didn't know what to expect, but was soooo pleasantly surprised. Film was great!

==============================

Megan O'Toole -- Late Late Show (Craig Ferguson)

Wow what an intense film. Amazing -- so well made and performances were excellent. Justin Timberlake was great and Ben Foster was brilliant.

================================

YASMIN RAMOS -- BET

Such a powerful film -- really enjoyed it. Who knew JT could act so well. He was so believable.

===========================

TOM ROSTON -- PREMIERE MAG

Really liked. Thought Ben Foster and Justin were standouts and thought that not only the story but the way Nick went about making the film was very intriguing.

==================================

DESIREE GALLAS -- MENS FITNESS

Liked although hard to watch. Exceptional acting. Was pleasantly surprised

================================

Nikia Dawkins -- Ent. Editor ZINK MAGAZINE

Very interesting and didn't look at my watch once -- who knew that Justin Timberlake could act -- great cast.

====================================

Julie Halpern -- VHI

Really enjoyed the film. It moved very nicely and the story was told well. It was fun to see JT acting. I had wanted to see the film for months and it did not disappoint.

=====================================

Alysson Prado -- GIANT

Really liked and was pleasantly surprised. JT was amazing. Didn't believe how talented he is. It was a very thought provoking film.

=====================================

MTV --

Really liked the film -- the cast was great -- very believable performances. Very impressed by Justin and there were breakthrough performances. Film will perform well.

================================

LA TIMES -- KINSEY LOWE

The film was amazing -- It left me sad and disillusioned in the end but thought it was well cast and well made.

================================

FADE IN

Justin, Emile and Ben performances were amazing. The group dynamics were very interesting. Thought casting and directions as a whole was terrific.

=======================================

G-4

Great film -- still talking about it -- Emile, Justin and Ben gave great performances

==========================================

Jimmy Kimmel

I found it disturbing but it stayed with me. Emile and Ben were amazing.

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

I'm so happy for Nick that the movie seems to be received well. I can only say it again: It sounds like the kind of movie I would watch even if Chris wasn't in it. After seeing those clips on Yahoo Movies yesterday, I'm quite sure I'm gonna like it just as much as I thought I would.

Hey, that's awesome!! I hope there's gonna be good ones. Can't wait! Three more weeks... Is the premiere in LA? And I can still see that daydream of ours: 300 screaming Justin fans and three excitedly bobbing Dorquettes, screaming Chris's name. LOL

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

Yeah, the premiere is at that funky, round theatre in LA.  I think it's called the Cinemadrome or something like that.  It's pretty cool. I drove by there on one of my trips out there for the screenwriting expo.
