Re: Fanboys

He edited to add that about Mothersbaug and TWC after someone asked him for a source.  Before he added it, I emailed Kyle via MySpace to ask if it was true.  He hasn't answered yet.  I looked at the selections for Cannes last night and it is not listed.  I don't believe it.  It seems utterly ridiculous that this film no one at TWC believes in would be sent to Cannes.  And I seriously call bullshit that the score is STILL being worked on.  No way.  This doesn't even come close to passing the smell test.

Re: Fanboys

Guess we'll see if it's true or not. Could it be they're doing more edits right now, and that's maybe why they're still tinkering with the score?

Though I think the guy is who he says he is: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0757932/ Look at his e-mail address in his contact details, it's eyescor@mac.com. Same nick.

Re: Fanboys

It gets even more ridiculous. This guys says they're still working on the score. Why would they be doing that, the score would long be finished. Unless..... Lucas saw the recut, didn't like it and told them if they wanted to go ahead with that version, he'll revoke his permission for Weinstein to use the original Star Wars sounds and FX.

And if that's the case, as Deb said, the movie's toast. R.I.P. Fanboys. We had a great time for as long as it lasted.

Re: Fanboys

Guys, I heard from a reliable source today that TWC tried to get Fanboys onto the August release calender but it's all booked up.  So despite what the know-it-all composer guy says, it appears that there's no way Fanboys will come out in theaters this year.      sad

Re: Fanboys

Uhm... isn't there September, October, November and December to go for? Can't say I care much anymore. I just want the DVD. It's gonna be the corporate cut in theaters. I'm not interested in seeing that anymore, Chris or no Chris. Harvey has finally managed to totally dim down my enthusiasm for the movie. Congratuations.

Are they gonna go for a 2009 release then? If so, when can we expect the DVD? Summer '09? Yeah, thanks. By then I might not even have any more interest in the f**king DVD.

If anyone of the creative team of the movie reads this, I'm sorry, guys. My patience only reaches this far. My heart goes out to you for having to put up with all this shit.

Re: Fanboys

Did you read that post on IMDb about how hard it is to squeeze a movie onto the schedule?  That poster is absolutely right.  You can't just sneak a movie into theaters like they're trying to do.  We have to just acquiesce to the fact that Harvey screwed the pooch and this movie is dead.  If we get it on DVD sometime before 2012 when the world ends, we'll be lucky.

Re: Fanboys

Yeah, of course I read that. Like I said, they've ruined the movie for me by now. The only thing that might bring salvation would be if they put the original cut in theaters, but we all know that'll only happen over Harvey's dead body. Dee dee dee.

Re: Fanboys

This really sucks. I actually would have liked to see this movie even with out Chris, and even without the cancer plot line if that was how it was originally written, but I was REALLY looking forward to seeing Ernie's vision. Who knows when/if that will ever happen now.

Re: Fanboys

No, Donna, it was written WITH the cancer plot.  Ernie's whole idea started with the question, "what would I do if I was dying and wouldn't get to see Ep 1?"  Removing the cancer plot a year and a half AFTER the film was already complete is what started this whole mess in the first place.

Re: Fanboys

I know that, I mean to say I would have been interested in a "fanboys" movie before all this crap happened regardless of the plot, writer, director, actors...but since Ernie's sounds wonderful I was even more interested in it. I totally agree that it is terrible what they are doing to it  at this stage of the game. As a star wars fan though, I WOULD have seen anything, but not now.

I don't think Fanboys should be in theatres anymore. It would be way better if it automatically went to dvd instead.

Re: Fanboys

Donna just told me that the movie's not on this year's Cannes line-up (big surprise). One guy on IMDb who claimed he was working on the score said it was gonna show at Cannes and then be released in theaters. Uh... I don't think so, not after we heard that the August release date Weinstein applied for was rejected because the schedules were already full.

Cannes line-up for 2008 can be seen here: http://www.timeout.com/film/features/sh … annes.html

Oh, and Donna? The "Report" button is usually used to report bad language or inappropriate behavior. If you wanna contact us, just use the E-mail link on the left below the avatar. Which, uh, I just realized isn't working. Darn. Okay, I'll try to contact the forum support guys to see if it can be fixed.

EDIT: I'll have to switch the forum to "debug" mode later today to find out what the problem is and how it can be fixed. Bear with me. Not sure if it'll affect the functionality of the forum during that time.

Re: Fanboys

This may explain why Fanboys is going to Cannes...

Cannes Marketplace Expands

Some 8,000 producers, sales agents, distributors and investors from 93 countries have registered for Cannes' Marché du Film, the deal-making side of the Cannes Film Festival, which opens next week, the Marché announced today (Monday). The figure represents an 8 percent increase in attendance over last year and a 40 percent increase since 2003. The burgeoning number of film professionals has resulted in the festival's decision to install three additional screening rooms -- bringing the total to 12 -- to host a record 1,600 planned screenings.

It may go to market and not play in the festival.  Maybe Harvey's trying to sell it off.  That would be...

THE BEST THING THAT EVER HAPPENED TO THE MOVIE!!!

Re: Fanboys

That's kinda like what they did with Graduation and RTD at the Berlin Film Festival. Remember, they played at the European Film Market? I guess those were screenings for potential overseas buyers, sounds very much like what you just posted.

Question is: Which version of the movie will they sell? Or does the deal not come with a specific version of the movie?

Re: Fanboys

Which version?  You're kidding, right?  You know which version.  The score guy said they were working on the no-plot version and that he'd never seen the real movie.  This has been over for weeks now.  We lost.  The real Fanboys is gone.  Or maybe we'll see it on DVD.  But I seriously would not expect TWC to honor their intent to release both versions on DVD.  I wouldn't trust Fat Bastard as far as I could throw him.
