Tell us what you think of Alpha Dog once you see it, Simon. It's my favorite movie ever after The Girl Next Door of course.  :}

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

Why do people think...

Susan & Keith are brother & sister?
Sharon Stone in the fat suit interview scene is the real mom?
Susan is Frankie's girlfriend?

Do they even pay the tiniest bit of attention when the watch a movie?  roll

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

Can you believe Universal is releasing this new direct to dvd sequel with more extras than Alpha Dog ever had?

Universal Home Video has announced  The Scorpion King 2: Rise of a Warrior which stars Randy Couture, Michael Copon, and Karen David. This straight to DVD film will be available to own from the 19th August, and should retail at around $29.98. The film itself will be presented in 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen, along with an English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround track. Extras will include deleted scenes, a Making of The Scorpion King 2: Rise of a Warrior featurette, a Visual Effects of The Scorpion King 2: Rise of a Warrior featurette, 4 additional features (Fighting Like an Akkadian, Becoming Sargon, Beauty and Brawn, Creating a Whole New World), and a gag reel. A Blu-ray release will also be available for $39.98.

Why in the world do they put such good extras on such a thing? Whereas Alpha Dog basically was barebones. AD should at least have had deleted scenes, several featurettes and a gag reel would have been a hoot to see.

Stupid Universal.

Even though I kind of liked the first one, I have zero interest in this. Who in the world is Randy Couture?

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

Remember how I noted I couldn't see much during the night scenes, well I found out why.

My TV is going out. I played AD on his tv and I could see everything during the night scenes including the windmills and the gun shot wounds.

It was dark last year, but now it's even darker. I tried to change the brightness level and other picture settings, but it's still too dark during dark scenes. So looks like I'll have to buy a new tv, but since it's getting close to the HDTV switchover, I'll just save and buy a new HDTV set.

Of course if the TV totally craps out on me, then I'll have to buy a used one to carry me over.

That's a bummer, but hey what a great excuse to get that HD TV you know you wanted, right?

I was looking for around a 26" widescreen HDTV which I found usually sells for about $600.

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

I saw a post on dvdtalk.com forum and  a site has the AD HD-DVD/DVD Combo on clearance for just $5.99.

Amazon.com is selling it for about $18, Overstock.com is selling it for around $31 & deepdiscount is selling it for around $12. Considering that the SRP is around $30, it's a good buy.

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

Actually, I think my own TV won't make it very much longer either. It's been having these blue and red and yellow spots on the screen for a while now. You don't usually recognize it when you watch something darker, but if you have something white on the screen (like when I have my laptop connected and open the Windows Explorer), you see them. It hasn't bothered me when I watch something so far, but it might also mean the TV is gonna give out at some point. And when that happens, I'll be getting a flat screen HD-ready something that's halfway affordable, even though I don't have any other HD equipment (yet?).

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

Hey TeeJay, did I tell you that Elaine's giving me a 32" TV for my living room?  I can't remember.  Her friend Amy just got an HD TV and gave the old one to her, but she has no room for it.  She snagged it specifically for me.  I just have to pay to ship it from Detroit to Atlanta.  It actually might not fit in the bookshelf in the living room, so it might have to go in my room and I'll put the 27" in the living room.  The only trouble is Amy can't find the remote.  I can get a Universal one, but I hate those.  Not sure when this will happen.  Depends on how much it ends up costing to ship it.  But it's pretty cool that I'll basically be getting something that big and nice for free.  big_smile

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

Just finished watching Alpha Dog for the first time, and i was surprised on how much me and my brother enjoyed it. Chris's performance was the usual greatness, as well as the rest of the cast. Nice to see half of the Tripod together on screen again, and was actually surprised on how good Justin Timberlake was.

I hardly ever feel emotional from films, but the ending changed my feelings dramatically.

Yeah, the ending packs a wallop, doesn't it Simon.  We can make you a Fanboy if you'd like.  TeeJay...?

Changed to Fanboy. smile

I was pretty much overwhelmed by the ending of Alpha Dog when I saw it for the first time. By the whole movie. Very impressive, if not very much in a good way.

hmmm Fanboy or Fangirl? hmm tongue

Even though i knew about the outcome of the character before i watched it, it was Anton Yelchin's performance just before the scene that really hit.

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

I've just found out that the video montage at the beginning was footage of the cast young. I thought i saw a small boy looking similar to Anton.

Anyone know who the other stars are?

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

LOL!  I just answered this same question on IMDb today.  Shawn Hatosy is in there.  Ben Foster.  Lukas Haas and Alex Solowitz (Bobby 911).  Chris is not in it, but his younger brother Eric is the little boy who aims the toy gun into the  camera.  Those are the only ones I remember.
