Brandon is confirming the delay: "The starting date was July 14, but as I understand it, there is a SAG strike going on in Hollywood. Now, I'm not sure if the strike has happened yet, all I know is there were threats of it happening and everyone in Hollywood was sort of holding their breath, maybe they still are, and production has, like, frozen almost-- You see, I don't know, but I've just... it's what I've heard a lot of productions of other movies have just halted and they're holding their breath, waiting what's gonna happen with this SAG strike, Screen Actors Guild strike. So, production-- No, shooting of Kid Cannabis, as I understand it, has been moved, pushed back until later in the year, probably in September."

About Chris he said: "First off, movie, Kid Cannabis, [...] stars Chris Marquette, you may know him from Joan of Arcadia and a lot of other things, he has a huge resume." Thanks, Brandon! Finally someone who's saying it out loud.

Hey Buffy. Nice to see you again. Let me try to explain why I'm stuck on the subject of who the "main character" will be in the movie...

I know that it's Nate's story, but I do fear that it will be told from Topher's point of view, with everything seen through his eyes. So that he's the one who's feelings are explored and not Nate's. If that's the case, then HE is the main character. What worries me the most is that Cam Gigandet seems to be getting top billing in this thing.

Honestly, I don't wanna hear Topher's whiny little bitch story of how he got sucked into Nate's scheme. I don't want to get to know Topher, I wanna get to know Nate. I want to see inside his head. He's the really interesting person in this story. But they've got this bland movie-star-looking joker playing Topher and his name is at the top of the cast list on IMDb, not Chris's. That scares me.

It's a fact that John Stockwell makes movies that are very pretty to look at. But they often center around vapid, terribly uninteresting characters. And it's also a fact that he has NEVER made a movie that could be considered deep. Or gritty. Or particularly challenging.

I'm just not sure we can trust him not to turn this into the story of how a shallow pretty boy got mixed up in the craziest, yet most successful amateur drug ring ever.

You know what I mean?

I Have Not Had The Opportunity To Read The Script....when John Approached Us With His Idea To Do This Movie I Don't Think Nate Or I Were Ready To Even Talk About It Yet...so John Has Not Really Kept Us Updated....sad I Would Love To Read It!

This movie sounds so awesome, and like it will be made well but like Deb says, lets hope it DOES get made and Chris won't be dropping out before then. He's getting a lead role in something that sounds like it will show his true skills in acting. They better make this dang thing and he had better stay on damnit.

Yup. I'm hoping we start hearing more and more about it in the next month or so. It may get pushed out a little further because the labor issues might not be worked out till after the SAG election on 9/18 though.

Oh now that's lame. I hate when they give you a taste of something and then make you drool over it for ages and ages *cough*Fanboys*cough* to the point where it doesn't matter if you see it in theater or DVD or somewhere online you just want to SEE it!

Or they tease you with the idea and then don't follow through. THAT one bugs me the most.

If not for the blasted SAG problems, the movie would already be a few weeks into shooting by now. I'm so sick of this stuff I could just scream long and loud for days on end. The good news (kinda) is that many many actors in Hollywood feel the same way. A lot of them are joining the dissenters and breaking away from this Membership First crowd at SAG that's trying to undermine AFTRA and kill the deal. I just don't undertand why the same deal the WGA and the DGA made is not good enough for SAG.

I would still love to read a script! Hollywood's so slow and frustrating!
But that read makes me go back to its the "Topher show" ! Sad.... they will just use Nate for their profit! I might feel different if they really worked with him! But so far they have NOT!
