I had to move the message board to an older version software today because of some issues with the latest update that I'm trying to fix. The old version doesn't have the spam protection, so I closed down the guestbooks for non-registered users for now. We already had one spam post in the guestbook earlier that I've deleted.

The spambots never sleep. I'm not gonna implement the spam protection in this old version, too much fiddling when I don't really wanna stick with this version.

It's not really people, Mel. It's email accounts that are hijacked and the spam is sent out automatically by a program. We've got it going out in our name because of that time we got hacked.

What we were actually talking about here is not bots sending out spam in our name, it's bots finding message boards where they can post their ads for adult YouTube channels, the latest Viagra wonder pill or replica watches. There are little "programs" out there that roam the net and post this on message boards that don't have a spam protection.

Anyone who changed their avatars within the last few weeks should check their avatars. Due to the fact that I reset the forum to an older version, it might be that your avatar was changed back to the one that was in use at the time of the forum backup.

Guys, I'm sorry about this, but I'll have to put the board in maintenance mode for a while on and off over the next few days, which will mean no one can access it. I will also have to completely redo our message board because of board software issues, but don't worry, we'll be able to keep all our posts. For you that won't mean much change other than the fact that we'll be losing a few of the functions we have now. Nothing major, but you might stumble upon little things that are different (like the absence of the calendar, different smileys, buttons missing, interface languages missing, etc.).

I will be trying to put the message board back in shape over the next few weeks, but it will take a while until things are back to how they were. It would be really great if you could e-mail me if you notice any missing functions or things that aren't working because I'm not sure I'll be able to monitor each and every function that people use.
