Erm, you are asking the wrong person, I think.
I don't even own a DVD player!
I use someone else's on THEIR TV, which is also 4:3, a 1989 SONY. I normally just plop in any DVD and press play, unless I want to view the 'extras', or something.
I see the black bars above and below the movie, of course, but beyond this, I don't really notice what folks look like ... Just as long as they appear to me to be human, is all I really care about, ha!

Do you live in a Dorm? Just curious.

For some reason, I can't get registered on the Emile MB to toss in my two cents so I'll say it here. This is for Abbie:

It's not Chris's family who has invited us to a couple of premieres. Most of the time, his mom has no idea what's going on in that arena unless we tell her. We were invited to see Infestation by its director, Kyle Rankin. The invitation to the Fanboys screening came from the film's writer, Adam Goldberg. No one in Chris's family, not even Chris himself had anything to do with that. Yes, we have been invited to go to LA, but this will be our first time meeting his mom. We've only corresponded through email so far.

We do feel quite fortunate to have made contact with as many people surrounding Chris as we have. And yeah, we talk to him sometimes through email too. But we have always kept a respectable distance, and tried not to intrude on his privacy at all.

I just think it is so cool that you guys had the experiences you did with Chris, albeit peripherally, that I let my desire to live vicariously and my enthusiasm run away with me, our Deb.

Well, it's not all peripheral either. We've basically spent the day with him twice. Goodness only knows how much time we'll get in LA, but maybe we'll be lucky enough to hang with him a little bit at least.

Not sure why you are having the problems you are joining up, EXCEPT that Kel has to be the one to approve you, and .... she is busy, busy, busy with her brand new job! I think she only gets online about once every 3 days, currently.

Sorry, I guess I thought you meant that we only deal with people on the periphery. No harm, no foul. The EH MB says that the code is incorrect even though I'm copying and pasting it in from where it is on the page. Makes no sense to me. It's the same code TeeJay registered with on the same day. I'm a little slammed right now and I said my say for now anyway. Maybe I'll try again this weekend.

I didn't have to wait for approval. I had to enter two codes, the one that's posted in the newbie forum and the anti-spam captcha code that was given on the registration page. After that an activation link was sent to my e-mail address, and after clicking that, I had access to the board. Might just have been a glitch with the captcha code, Deb. Maybe you can try again some other time.

That jibes with what we've been told recently, at least it's closer to what we were told to expect if the movie comes out on 9/19. But we were also told that 9/19 is unlikely at this point. I hope that DVD date is right though. Make a helluva Christmas present.

We can't reveal the details just yet, but there's a very strong chance that TeeJay, Anne and I will get to see the movie in October. Hope you guys will keep your fingers crossed for us. :embarrassed:

AICN confirms that Fanboys will screen at this year's Fantastic Fest in Austin, TX. What they don't say is that this is supposedly going to be a special screening in honor of Harry Knowles, who helped Ernie Cline get the original screenplay seen back in '98. Sure would be fun to go to this!

No, it's not coming out on 9/19. That date fell through. Again. No new release date has been announced, but there is a DVD date floating aorund of 12/23 that no one has been able to confirm yet.
