Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

There's actually only one "sex" scene, between Ben Foster and Heather Wahlquist.  The one with Anton in the pool doesn't show anything but kissing.  And then there's an almost sex scene with Emile Hirsch and Olivia Wilde, but he can't "perform" so nothing happens and it ends in a fight.

I'm not gonna tell anyone how to watch the movie, but aside from the rather vile scene with Ben and Heather, there's really nothing to shy away from.

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

Yes, I did cover my eyes for the sex scenes; cut me some slack I'm only 18.  And sure it might not be such a big deal for most people but for me it is.  I just don't think I need to see any of that stuff until I'm absolutely ready (which won't be until I get married.  And if I don't ever get married then I'm not going to expose myself to any movies that show that stuff or even experience it out of marrige.  It's just not me.)

Well, everyone is entitled to their opinion and behavior. It's fine to have a strong view on this. I may find it odd, but then I have things that other people find odd about me, so... wink

It's not odd, just very idealistic.  Which is kind of refreshing.

Thanks for accepting my opinion/views.  My parents have just always raised me to wait on that stuff until marriage (and away from drugs and drinking.)  I've grown up old fashioned I guess you can say.

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

Yeah, well, I have my strong views on sexual things too. I would never sleep with anyone I'm not in love with. There's nothing wrong with a bit of old-fashionedness. I've been raised to stay away from drink and drugs, and I'm proud of the fact that I've never touched a cigarette, never used drugs and have never been really drunk. Some might call that boring. Yeah, so what? What's so exciting about drinking until you can't control what you're doing and end up puking your guts out? I think we're all in good company here. smile

Same here. I have exactly the same view. Many people called me weird because I want sex to be something special to me or because I don't drink that much. They get at least one reason about me not smoking - my illness. But do you know what? I don't care if they think I am weird. In fact I am proud to be different from them. wink

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

Yes, we all are who we are. Which doesn't mean you can't change as a person. Being in a relationship and making it work always has to do with changing or at least bending enough to accomodate your partner's wishes and beliefs. Not that I have a great deal of experience with this, but I know enough that a relationship rarely works when you say: I am who I am, I'm not gonna change, so just accept me that way. We're all set in our ways, and it's great to be single and live the life the way you want to, but sometimes I'd rather have to compromise and be with someone instead of being on my own where I'm pretty much doing what I want.

Ah, but we're starting to wax philosophical. Maybe we should continue this somewhere other than the Alpha Dog thread...

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

Yeah, we kinda did go a bit off topic.  But not really.  It's OK.  We're discussing how the explicit scenes in AD made SW feel.  That's fine for this board.  No problem.  I'm gonna stay out of this conversation myself because I'm way older than you guys.  LOL!

Banshee, I want to give you a big hug right now...

You will be quoted on our site. I hope that's OK!

Making people cry is Chris's stock in trade. He's been doing it consistently for about 12 years. As well as making us laugh. And sigh. OK, I'll stop now. :-)

Haha... go for it. I meant every word I said, too. He was incredible, probably the most likeable male character in the movie (for me, at least), cause he seemed more real than the rest of them. I mean, every group has that guy who loves to goof off and seems kind of cruel, but when it comes down to it is better than anyone else.

When he ran up to hug Zack just before they led the kid up the hill, that's when I lost it. I was like, "Oh, jeez, I'm not going to be able to hold this together anymore... where's my gun? I'm gonna go kill Johnny." Well, that last part might have been stretching the truth.

I swear, I'm going to look into him more in the future. Jake might have been my favorite character, but Keith was definitely the one I liked the most (him and Susan, who I need to mention because she was the only female that I really liked in that movie, possibly excluding Olivia). He was truly incredible.

Yeah, thanks for bringing that over, Deb. Our site has gotten a lot more hits since the Alpha Dog release. Lots of people find us through Alpha Dog keywords too. Cool. I'm curious what'll happen, once the movies show where he actually looks likeable, like The Invisible and Fanboys. smile

From the Chris IMDb board:

Re: GREAT in Alpha Dog

This kid finally got a dramatic role and just like I knew he would, he knocked it out of the park. His whole body language after he and Elvis went and did what they did was great. Kudos, broseph, keep up the great work.

And yeah, he stole all of his scenes in "Just Friends"

Couldn't agree more, though of course I can't judge his AD performance. But I trust everyone who says he was great. We should add this to the AD feedback notes, Deb. Can you do that, Deb?

This guy hasn't seen much of our boy if he thinks AD is his first dramatic role.  Did you straighten him out on that, TeeJay?

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

I wish we had a DVD already, so I could make decent screencaps. And I have to grin every time I see Justin's torso tat with the est. 1976 writing. That's my birth year too. If they make any avatars of Chris, let us know, I'm curious. Too bad we don't have that many good stills of him from the movie. Not to mention him wearing the fright wig in them. LOL

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

Those are great.  I would totally use a naked torso Chris vatar!  But nobody is going to have pics of that scene because none have been released and no one's got any good caps of it either.

You know what somebody said on IMDb?  There was a girl in one of the screenings with a digital camera taking pictures of the screen.  How funny is that?  But I must say I'm tempted to smuggle mine in with me when I go see the movie again tomorrow.  If there's no one in there, I might try to snap a shot or two of that scene.  LOL!
