I liked that version of Manchurian Candidate a lot, Illinois.  I love the original too, but this one was very well done.

Make sure you're not feeling emotionally fragile when you watch An American Crime.  It's incredibly disturbing.  Messed my head up for days.  No exaggeration.

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

Oh, and even though Michael Welch is in it, his role isn't very big. I thought everyone did a good job, though. Ellen Page was great. I also have to agree with Deb, it's a deeply disturbing subject matter and very intensely done.

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

Never even heard of Shark Bait before.

Kind of looks like a combination of Finding Nemo & Shark Tale.

Now I know why I've never heard of it, according to IMDB it wasn't even released in the U.S. theatrically. It was however released here on DVD by the Weinstein Company.

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

I have yet to see An American Crime. The DVD went missing, but I found it yesterday. But somehow the Martian Child DVD is still missing, which is kind of strange because I remember looking at it. I want to watch this movie again!!!

EDIT: HA! Guess what I just found! The Martian Child DVD. I somehow messed up my Internet connection and paniced because I couldn't find the paper that has the security code, so I went through ALL my stuff and what did I found? Not the paper, but the DVD! LOL And the internet works also again, that's so good to know! big_smile

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

I just ordered three new DVD's. Wow, when did I ever before buy 7 new DVD's in the same month? Never.. I'm actually a bit... ms. Pinchpenny or something.. Anyways. There was a sale at cdon.com (it's pretty much for the scandinavians, originates from Sweden) and I got 3 dvd's under 12 euros. Pretty good. big_smile

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

Bought the Get Smart dvd from Best Buy
catgetsmartshoephoneopewv8.jpg

It's actually larger than I thought. The shoe folds out and it must be at least a size 13 size shoe. Also when you turn the dial it makes the old phone dialing sound.

I also bought a Fantasy- Adventure Collector's Set from Walmart for $5.00
It has 4 films that includes The Curse of King Tut's Tomb, Blackbeard, Merlin's Apprentice and the 2005 version of Poseidon Adventure with Peter Weller. It runs a total of 697 minutes.
Here is a scan from an ebay auction

Love the Get Smart casing. I still need to watch that. I find Steve Carell amazing in anything he's in.

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

Yesterday I ordered The sisterhood of the traveling pants. Now I'm having second thoughts but too late to change my mind; it's already in the mail. I started thinking maybe I should have waited for a while if I'd find a box-set with the sequal... What the heck, I wanna see it again anyway. big_smile
