"...That I couldn't deny, even if the fact that he was wearing a tuxedo made me very nervous. Not quite as nervous as the dress. Or the shoe. Only one shoe, as my other foot was still securely encased in plaster. But the stiletto heel, held only by satin ribbons, certainly wasn't going to help me as I tried to hobble around."
That would have been fun to see!

I knew it was a stiletto! Alice wouldn't let her wear anything else. Really, I think Alice would rather break Bella's other foot than to let her to go the prom in sneakers.

Here is an early review.

It appears that the highly anticipated teen vampire movie, "Twilight", has been screened for some claims they saw it. From what I have read about the movie it seems like the real deal. The reviewer calls herself a "BIG BIG Fan", so it might not be the most unbiased review in the world . Also, what the hell is a "fan-pire?"
As a warning, the following review contains spoilers.
HERE IT IS:
Hello Nuke the Fridge my name is "Seattle Mama". I am a BIG, BIG fan of "Twilight" and had a chance to go see a "secret" screening of Twilight the other day in my hometown. I love your website and thought I would send you guys a review.
I am not great at writing reviews but I will try my very best....
Any true fan of this book would have "killed" to get an early view such as the one I was so lucky to attend. A sneak preview to Twilight is just icing on the cake for me because I was one of many joining in on the hysteria of Stephenie Meyer's New York #1 bestseller. Before the movie began a studio representative told the small audience that the movie was only 90% finished (Mostly some FX & sound not finished). Nevertheless the movie was still very impressive. For those of you who are not "Fan-pire's" this movie is a bit of a twist on the traditional Vampire.
It starts with Bella Swan (played by Kristen Stewart) an ordinary "Plain Jane" who doesn't care about any of the teen trendy stuff. She decides to move in with her father who happens to be the sheriff of the rainy, gloomy town of Forks, Washington. Not expecting much excitement to happen there she meets him, Edward Cullen (played by Robert Pattinson) a mystery as well as stunning sight. Bella can't help but get herself into finding out more about Edward and his family. She later finds out they're really Vampires. Bella starts to fall in love with Edward who is fighting himself not to kill her because of his love for her. Their relationship though has caused trouble with a clan of new Vampires passing by to threaten their town because of the fact that Edward doesn't just kill her.
So how is it compared to the book? I felt that the cast that was picked did an amazing job of trying to nail down the image and personality of their characters from the books (Rosalie - need I say more). Especially great was Robert Pattinson. I know what you guys at Nuke the Fridge say about him not being a good vampire, but to me he is the sexiest vampire ever on film.
Though I feel that this movie is not going to be as highly hailed as Lord of the Rings was for being "dead on" book wise. But for the most part the book and the movie are pretty close. There are a couple of differences, but I don't want to say too much other than one of the differences involves a death that didn't take place in the book. There were also some things that I had wished were in the movie but if I were not a fan of the series I guess it wouldn't bother me too much because it flowed pretty well. I did feel that the wire stunts were a bit too much at times. Almost took me out of the movie a couple of times. I do think "Twilight" will certainly be a hit and I feel that the studio will most likely continue on to making the next 3 films.
On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being best - I give it an 8 ½."

Today I've been reading Edward's view of the Twilight in Midnight sun at Stephanie Meyer's site. I just thought it's better than nothing. I thought it would be much shorter. It's over 260 pages. and I'm totally hooked. Again...
Here's a link to it (as if someone here doesn't know about it ):

I saw the theatrical trailer in the theater for the first time last night. I usually miss them because I rarely go to the cinema but I went up to New York for a play, and my friend and I went to a Halloween midnight showing of The Haunting of Molly Hartley in Times Square. I bet him that they'd show it and, sure enough, it was the very first trailer. Looks pretty good up on the big screen.

Haha, nice coincidence. I started reading the first book last night. I'm already on page 95. And somehow I think it would have been more fun to read it not knowing from the beginning what Edward actually is or imagine the characters looking like the actors. Whenever I read Mike Newton, I see Mike Welch. Which is not a bad thing, mind you.

Haha, same here.
I am not as far as you are although I started reading a few days earlier, but I always see Mike Welch when Mike Newton comes up and the same thing happens to Bella and Edward.

The funny thing is, when Michael was first cast all the fans who had read the books said that when they saw him that he was exactly what they pictured Mike Newton would look like! We have literally thousands of comments and messages on his MySpace as well as thousands of comments at all the various posts on all the sites that talked about it, and it was freaky how many said that. Almost every post which praised the casting decision (which was almost all) said that he was exactly how they saw Mike Newton.
So, in an odd way, I'm willing to bet that you seeing Michael Welch when you read about Mike Newton isn't so different from what you would have imagined even if you had read the book first!

Oh, I finally get it. What it is that bugs me about Twilight. It was seriously disturbing. It was like something hovering above me; I knew it was there but I couldn't see it. And NOW I get it. The story is just like something I could have written my self. The way she writes, the way her characters act and talk. I actually had something like it morphing in my mind before I'd even heard of Stephanie Meyer. Well, now I can't write it anymore; it's already done. Like so many other stories before... Just when I get the inspiration for something, I find out that someone had the exact same idea. There's no way to be original anymore. All the greatest stories have already been told.
I just finnished the Edward-version on Stephanie Meyer's site and whilst reading it this came clear to me. And another thing. I can so relate to Stephanie. We have so much in common. I read some of the story behind Twilight, how she got the idea. It's just as I get most of my ideas. There's always a dream that gets stuck in my mind and starts to evolve. I get exited about it, feel it warming me inside. And then at some point I realize the idea is too stubid to follow thru; people would think I've got either too much of imagination or too little. Or I find out there's already a story very much similar to mine. And there's the point that I'm always afraid I'll subconsciously plagiarize someone else's words, because there's so many stories I've read or watched. That's the main reason that I don't ever write anything or stop in the middle of it. The fear of not beeing original. I don't just want to recreate somone else's story. I want to create my own...
Another thing that makes me relate to Stephanie is the way she tells how her family life effects on her writing.. I too have millions of things to do thru the day just keep sure the kids are safe and clean and fed and all. And the diapers.. I'm so sick of diapers! Just while writing this little post I've stoped about ten times to do things for the boys... And i too would nothing but stay up late at night writing if it wasn't for my beau. JTT really doesn't like it when I stay up late. Sometimes it feels like he holds me back in these things.. Lately my insomnia has gone worse again due to my growing urge to write. New synopsis' keep coming to me... day and night; asleep and fully awake. Just this morning before I woke up I had this dream, of this guy with steel blue eyes looking into another pair of eyes and I could feel the tension between them...
I know this is totally not making any sence and I'm not sure if this even belongs in this thread... :embarrassed: Just wanted to share these thoughts before they make me explode.

'Twilight' film features an author cameo
By Carol Memmott and Scott Bowles, USA TODAY
Stephenie Meyer has a cameo in the movie version of her novel Twilight, but the author isn't eager to see her acting debut."That's the only part I'm never going to watch," she says.
Meyer has no lines in the movie — she says she was too shy — but she can be seen sitting at a lunch counter in a diner. It's a scene where Bella and her father are dining out in Forks, Wash., the town where most of the story takes place.
"It just seemed like the kind of thing the fans would love," director Catherine Hardwicke says. "And she was great."
Meyer spent time on the Oregon set of Twilight, which is based on the first of her four teen vampire novels. The film stars Kristen Stewart as Bella and Robert Pattinson as the vampire heartthrob Edward, and is due in theaters Dec. 12.
Last week, 6,500 fans, some camping overnight, showed up at Comic-Con in San Diego to see a trailer and talk with Meyer and cast members. Meyer hasn't seen the entire movie, but she likes the 15 minutes she has seen.
The toughest thing for Hardwicke was deciding which parts of the book to leave out. "I wish I could make a six-hour movie," she says. "When you're a fan like I am, it's hard to let anything go."
Meyer likes the choices the director made. "I'd be watching what Catherine did with a scene, and I'd think to myself, 'Why didn't I think of that?' "

I just ordered New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn. I'm on page 157 of Twilight now. Wish I had more time to read.

Me too. I'm only on page 50 or so. Not that far yet, but I can't read English books as fast as German books yet.

I hope you get more time to read Twilight, TJ and Anne. I think you'll really like it and the other books as well.

My new books finally came yesterday. New moon and Eclipse. Last night I already read the first 200 pages. Would have read more but it was half hour to 1am and I had to wake up 6.20. I didn't want to have my eyes to be like big tomatoes today. Blowded and sore... I couldn't have read more! Now I'm going to order the last book today. If I'll be reading it this fast and the last delivery took 8 days, then it's the right way to go. I don't want another week long pauses between books.

That's spooky. In a way. Edward's way too white in the face, even for a vampire.

You read the Twilight series fast like me. They can be really addicting.

They can be really addicting.
Feels like an understatement!
I'm driving JTT crazy. Yesterday i read practically the whole day, I had to stop when I had about 260 pages read (I have to admit this most be the longest book I've ever read. That and the fact that this is just the second book I'm reading in english -as in not-my-own-language, makes me pretty impressed by my self to read this fast. ). My eyes felt like they couldn't handle any more at 6pm.
I was so anxious about getting back to the book that I completed my chores in almost vampire-like speed and managed to follow the kids at the same time as I was devouring words. Sounds bad, like I'm negoletging my kids. :embarrassed: Not true, they were fed, bathed, dressed and all, even if I was pretty darn fast about it. I did take few minutes every hour to play with them too.. My little daredevils are so easy to entertain. They love to hang on my back upsidedown and do other crazy stunts. They're gonna do it anyway so they might as well do it with me when it's save.

That funny that there's an article asking if Brooke Smith will get the boot from Grey's Anatomy. Tonight was her last ep. She's fully booted. And I HATE it.
