I know there's been a lot of discussion about whether they cast Edward right. Now that I'm almost through the first book, I gotta admit that they might not have made the best choice. I couldn't suggest anyone else right now, but somehow I feel that they could have done better than Robert Pattinson. It's not that I hate him or anything. And he's not a horrible choice. I just think there might have been better options out there. Of course my impression so far is only based on pictures and the first trailers and clips. Maybe I'll think differently, once I've seen the movie.

I didn't like the casting at all, not at first. I kept seeing Mike Welch as Edward in my mind. The way he looked like at JOA but without the classes and with better posture, maybe a bit more buffed. I thought Robert didn't have enough edge, he's too soft looking. Now I'm starting to see a bit Edward in Robert when I checked some pictures. The eyes mainly, I could totally see that look on Edwards face as he was in some picture I just saw today. But I still think they chose the wrong girl to play Bella. She looks all wrong. I can't explain it. In some pictures she looks like Bella but the clips and trailers confuse me.. Other Cullens are ok casted. I loved the guy that plays Jacob. That's one thing they did right. Now that i'm half way thru the third book, I can totally see him as Jake. The smile is just as it was written. See:

Edit. Here's more in the subject of Bella/Edward casting: http://www.portraitmagazine.net/kristenstewart2.html
Michael Welch told Portrait: "I don't see how you can get a better Bella and Edward than Kristen and Robert. Once I heard that Kristen was playing Bella, it seemed like it made the story fit. She's so interesting and has a mysterious quality about her that's perfect for Bella."

Hey, the movie isn't even out yet, and they already placed Edward as number one of all time pop-vampires: http://www.ew.com/ew/gallery/0,,2023455 … 15,00.html
What would be your pick on this subject? So: name 12 well-played vampires.
I haven't even seen all of those movies that are on that list. And I was wondering where's Spike. My own list would propably be all about Twilight and Buffyverse, but there would be couple of vamps from the Cruise-movie they mentioned there. And that Dracula (in that Keanu version) was pretty darn creepy.

I didn't expect much for the actor who played Edward, or any of the Cullens. There's no one who could look like them, so I didn't have very high expectations. I think Kristen Stewart is a good Bella though. I like Taylor, who's playing Jake... but I hate Jake, so the fact that I want to punch Taylor in the face is a good thing

I love Kristen Stewart too. I'll see anything she's in.
Top 12 vamps:
Spike (Buffy/Angel)
Angel (Buffy/Angel)
Dru (Buffy/Angel)
Darla (Buffy/Angel)
Jerry Dangridge (Fright Night)
Regine (Fright Night II)
Bill Compton (True Blood)
David (The Lost Boys)
Dracula (as played by Frank Langella)
Severn (Near Dark)
Armand (Interview With The Vampire)
Frost (Blade)
Miriam Blaylock (The Hunger)
Ooops, looks like I have 13. Oh well. I'll see if I can find pics later.

Chances are that you haven't seen it yet, but wait till you see Let The Right One In. It's being released in various places around the world right now (it's from Sweden). It won the Best Picture award at Tribeca and has gone on to win a slew of awards at other festivals. It is, by far, the most acclaimed festival film of the year.
An American version is being made which will be out in late 2009 or early 2010.
Here are some of the awards. This is not up to date because it only goes through mid-October:
Sitges International Film Festival of Catalonia: Golden Melies Award
Edinburgh International Film Festival: Critical Consensus Awards
Tribeca Film Festival: Founders Award for Best Narrative Feature
Woodstock Film Festival: Audience Award - Best Narrative Feature
Austin Fantastic Fest: Best Film Award
Dead Channels San Francisco Festival of Fantastic Film: Audience Award – Best Feature Film
Calgary International Film Festival: Best International Feature
Neuchatel International Film Festival: Best European Fantasy Feature
Natfilm Festival Copenhagen: Metro Critics Award
Göteborg International Film Festival: The Nordic Film Award & Best Cinematography Award

Why do you hate Jake? I just finished the third book and I love him. If I were Bella... Does he do something really really bad in the fourth book? Tell me.. Don't tell me..um.. I don't know if I wanna know. I hope the book comes as soon as possible to my mail box. I feel like I'm on fire, that's how much I wanna read it. I'm ordering such editions that have a freaking teaser in the end: the first chapter of the next book. Drives me nuts! I'm absolutely obssessed about reading these books. Just this week I read the second and the third one in like 5 days. There was about 1000 pages when count together. Why do they keep getting thicker and thicker? Hmm.. I don't care, they should be 1500 pages each!

Yahoo has a new page dedicated to Twilight, including a new, exclusive clip. It is embedded with an available code plus there are HD links.

No, he doesn't do anything bad. The fourth book actually makes me almost like him. Almost. I just can't stand him. That whole "love meeeeeee!" thing just rubs me wrong. He didn't care if she was happy with Edward, he wanted her to be with him... whether she would be happy or not.

I just saw this on TV... one of the funniest trailers for the movie

You know you are a bit obsessed by The Twilight saga when every song you hear reminds you of some relationship or moment in the books... This I noticed today while I was listening to one of my mp3's on the stereo. When I was in song 52 I realized there hadn't been ten songs that didn't remind me of something Twilight. :embarrassed:
And also... You know you are a bit too much into the books when it's all you can think about. Possible ways the story could have turned if it hadn't turn out the way it did. Or how it could continue... And yeah, I'm gonna strangle the mail lady if she don't bring me my fourth book tomorrow!
Hey, I'm just trying to be funny here. I hope you guys don't think I lost it.
I don't know why I'd prefer Jake over Edward. I think Bella would be better of with him.
Might have something to do with the fact that I've always liked wolves. As a kid I wanted to be one. :embarrassed: And in... native americans have always interested me. And I like exotic guys. But maybe mostly because Jake is so warm. Not just by his skin but his whole personality. The warm skin isn't a bad quality on my boyfriend either, JTT is pretty warm too. And I have something weird going on in my bones. If I touch something cold or the air is moist or drafty, I get this sharp pain in my fingers. Only thing that helps is to get something warm on them. Then the warmth hurts at first too before it eases. So if I'd hold Edward's stonecold hand, I'd be in constant pain.

I wish I could read English books faster. I'm still not very far with my book and forgetting it at home while having an extremely boring weekend at my parents's place isn't really helpful either.

That's a very cute trailer. I'm still at the stage where all love songs remind me of Adam & Joan. I'm a dork.

Oh crap. Imdb says the Twilight release date in Finland is in january. Damned, I really wanted to see it in our cute theater in town. In Sweden it is 21 november. So a good thing that I live on the borderline. Gotta find nearest Swedish theater then. Never been to one before.

Kinda the same with me. In Germany it starts in January, but I think in the Netherlands in November or December. However, I don't think I wanna see it so urgently that I'm willing to drive to the Netherlands for it. Now, if it was a Chris movie......

I just registered to Twilight Lexicon Forum. Anyone other Dorquettes over there?
Here's my introduction there.. as if anybody cares. http://www.twilightlexiconforum.com/vie … f=5&t=2419
EDIT: I don't want to flood so I just add this here..
I was just surfing around the theme Twilight and came across some pretty good fanarts and videos. And I now realize that Steven Strait would have been even better as Jacob. Maybe too old to play the pre-wolf Jacob but maybe they should change into older actor when he changes because Bella once thinks that Jacob looks a lot older than her, did she even say close to 30?

Are there screenings this week? One of my co-workers said her daughter wants to go to a screening this week and needs to get the tickets today. Does that sound right?

No, not that I'm aware. There are hundreds of events surrounding the release taking place -- appearances at malls, book signings, interviews, trips, parties, etc. Nobody will get to see the film before 12 midnight Thursday night November 20 (i.e., Friday November 21).
Hundred of screenings are already sold out due to advance sales. Some theaters are sold out for every screening the entire first weekend.
Maybe there are advance sales today for some screenings that will take place that weekend which are on sale today and that's what she meant.
Only press screenings are taking place and they are very limited.

That's what I thought. Thanks for the confirmation.

I should probably buy tickets in advance... I just don't want to because the minute I do, something will happen the day we were supposed to go.
