Deb, another alternative to QuickTime is the free VLC player. You can get it at http://www.videolan.org/vlc/. And it plays pretty much any video format that's out there.

VLC is actually my favorite player. I originally got it because I could not play AVI files with WMP. I highly recommend it.

I also have a solution for the "video stops after 2 seconds" issue, if anyone is still having that problem.

Someone rather important, who I like very much suggested that in order to keep interest up in Fanboys as we suffer another delay, we share a few of our non-spoilery pics. I'm going to dole these out slowly on IMDb. But I'm gonna flood you guys. A couple of them are not even from the movie. I tried to chose mainly just cool fairly close-up pics of the cast. Enjoy...

Funny, I don't recall ever doing that one. But I guess I did. It's kinda cute how he models the gear.

We should photoshop an actual lightsaber into this one, it looks weird with just the handle (or is it not a lightsaber handle?). And there's a bit of green wall in the top left corner:

However, somehow I get the feeling that on IMDb you're casting pearls before swine. I think they'll be much more appreciated on message boards of the actors (other than IMDb).

Gee, so much enthusiasm. If you think the original shot without the lightsaber is good enough, go for it. No need for me to touch it up.

I've been doing enough promotion for Fanboys on the actors' various message boards lately, and I've found that most people just don't care. So I'm giving up. Being met with ignorance or silence has finally gotten me to the point where I don't think it's worth the effort anymore. The only place that was really nice and halfway responsive was Kristen's FanForum board. But since Chris1010 is there too, I guess he'll be seeing the pics on IMDb, and he might just post the Kristen ones on Kristen's FanForum himself.

I certainly will agree that the value of posting on a given IMDb board is directly proportional to the intelligence and courteousness of the fans who read and post there.

I think we've all had our experiences with banging heads against the wall *cough*alpha dog*cough* and decided it's just not worth it.

Right, now I see it too. Why would he hold that up, though? Am I missing something? Or were they maybe using it as a replacement "tool" because they didn't have a lightsaber handle handy at the photoshoot? Maybe they were planning on photoshopping a lightsaber into Sam's hands.

Oh, uh, I just noticed. Wrong. I knew I hadn't just imagined Sam holding up a lightsaber. Here, this is one of the promoshots--and what's that in Sam's hands? (It's not photoshopped.)

I also just realized... Why is Dan wearing sneakers in the torch photo and black boots in the lightsaber photo?

Maybe they shot this stuff on two different days. The first day they didn't have a lightsaber so they improvised. They didn't seem to have any other "weapons" either. Then someone brought in all the toys and they shot some more stuff. Seems like the easiest explanation to me.

Kristen Bell meets Darth Vader as the long-delayed Star Wars-themed spoof Fanboys finally gets a release date.
New Fanboys Date, Trailer
A new trailer and release date have gone live for the long-delayed Fanboys on Yahoo! Movies.
The Star Wars-themed spoof, starring Dan Fogler, Kristen Bell, Jay Baruchel, Christopher Marquette and Sam Huntington, will open on Feb. 6, 2009. It was originally slated for release in August 2007.
The movie centers on a group of die-hard Star Wars fans who make a cross-country trip in the early 1990s to break into George Lucas' Skywalker Ranch to steal a print of Episode I: The Phantom Menace before its release.
The movie, directed by Kyle Newman, will have a running time of 90 minutes.
