I think I uploaded it to my MySpace videos. YouTube doesn't allow it because you can only upload videos that aren't longer than 10 minutes. In fact, I'm pretty sure I have it up as an embedded video on our site. Or else you can try to right-click the video file link on the website and choose "Save link as..." to download it to your hard drive. If you play it from there, it shouldn't have any problems.

Just make sure you're in the mood, Maria. Alpha Dog is really intense stuff. I couldn't stop thinking about it the night I first watched it and a few days afterwards. It surely isn't a movie that you should watch when you feel like light popcorn entertainment.

It is quite heavy stuff. Even knowing the outcome before watching it, i still had it on my mind days after.

I hear ya, Simon. And I loved the movie for that. These days there just aren't enough movies on the big screen that make you think, make you feel, make you wanna talk about it even days after you saw it.

ok, so i looked around this blu-ray thing a little. so they think alpha dog deserves 1, but 30 days of night deserves 4??/ now i am really convinced of their in-depth viewing of the movies.

I was going through the films credits doing an update for the dvd profiler program and found that Tom Woodruff Jr. & Alec Gillis did the make-up effects. I am assuming that this has something to do with the Sharon Stone fat suit and/or the murder scene.
I wonder if those that always complain about the make-up during that scene even knew that those 2 likely did it.
Usually these 2 do very good make-up effects, so I wonder if it has anything to do with the films budget, lighting or the film process?
FYI: They do the Alien effects in the newer films.

Actually, I think Nick Cassavetes once explained why the fat suit looks so obviously fake on camera. I'm not sure I recall this correctly, but I think he said that he originally wanted it filmed with a certain filter or camera effect and asked the make-up department to do the fat suit the way they did it because it would work for what he had in mind. But when Nick got to the set for shooting the scene, he realized that the camera or filter was different from what he wanted or wasn't available. By that time it was too late to have Sharon Stone go back to make-up to fix the fat suit, so he had shoot the scene with what he had. And obviously it didn't turn out as well as everyone wanted.
Maybe Deb will remember the story in more detail.

Kind of remember that now.
I don't think the make-up in that scene is really that bad. But I think how it "looks" onscreen is what makes it look worse than it actually is.
I'm going by memory here, but perhaps Nick shouldn't have filmed it so close-up. The closeness is what draws your attention to the makeup. Perhaps he should have filmed it from a distance, perhaps with Matt Barry in the foreground and Sharon further back as if the camera was on a tripod.

Yeah, he was gonna shoot in a process that would make it look like it was on videotape, but for some reason, at the very last minute, they couldn't. The makeup was done for that process so it just didn't look right in the process they used, but for budgetary reasons they were not able to go back and shoot it again. I agree with Illinois, they should've shot it from a bit of a distance. And I would've loved to actually see Matt Barry onscreen being that I've enjoyed his acting since we were both teenagers.

I bet he'll appeal.
Anyways, I wonder that now that the trial is over will Universal release a better features laden dvd?
I just hope they were waiting for the actual trial to conclude so then they could include an in-depth featurette on the real life case.
Offline
I doubt it. To me, it felt like Uni just didn't care about the movie at all. Is there even an audience for a special edition anymore? The trial got no real publicity in the mainstream press outside Santa Barbara. I just don't see that happening.

Jesse James Hollywood gets life sentence in Santa Barbara murder
Convicted killer Jesse James Hollywood has been spared the death penalty by the Santa Barbara jury that found him guilty last week of first-degree murder and kidnapping. He will spend his life in prison.
The jury concluded that Hollywood, 29, ordered the execution of a 15-year-old West Hills boy after snatching him off the street near his home and driving him to Santa Barbara. A marijuana dealer at the time, Hollywood kidnapped Nicholas Markowitz to avenge a $1,200 drug debt owed by the boy's older half-brother, Ben.
Defense attorneys contended that Ben Markowtiz had been threatening Hollywood's life for months and had poisoned his dog before Hollywood impusively picked the boy up. They claimed the killing was done independently by friends of Hollywood who wanted to earn his approval.
The trial, which started May 15, was attended every day by members of the Markowitz and Hollywood families.
The crime was notorious when it was committed in 2000 and became the basis for the 2006 film "Alpha Dog.''
The last of four men convicted in the case, Hollywood fled after the crime and was arrested in Brazil in 2005.
