Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

My newest purchase (along with the DVD player):
51X2ugmyAFL_SL500_AA240_.jpg

It's the 2 Disc Special Edition. "Extended and unprotected": lol
The Cover is German, but the DVDs have the Original titles. Thank God. I hate German covers. roll
I actually wanted to buy 27 dresses, but it was still too expensive. Well, next time.

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

Bought these today

From Best Buy

666901h.jpg
I bought their exclusive edition that comes in a lunchbox

1416619h.jpg

Then I went over the the Circuit City to check out their Store Closing sale.
Basically they raised just about all the prices up on the dvds. And the TV on DVD selection was terrible.
Anyways I bought these 2 titles

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

One thing they could've included in that Apocalypse Now set that would've made it really complete and really special is the great doc, Heart Of Darkness: A Filmmaker's Apocalypse.  It really tells the nitty gritty detailed story of what Francis went through on this one.

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

That was wonderful!  I remember Martin Sheen telling AN stories in an interview.  He said that after his heart attack his wife flew in and met him at the hospital.  They'd had to airlift him out of the jungle where they were shooting.  He said he was lying on a gurney and saw his wife walking in through the glass doors.  She walked over to where he was, patted his hand and told him, "It's only a movie, Babe."  He said up 'til then he was pretty sure but after that he KNEW he'd chosen the right woman.

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

LOL!  Yeah, that's a great story.  My favoite thing in the doc is when Dennis Hopper shows up onset and he's so completely stoned out of his mind he doesn't even really know where he is.  He just kinda giggles a lot and keeps asking people to tell him where he's supposed to stand and what he's supposed to say.  Yep, that's our Dennis.  lol

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

You'll never guess what I just ordered from cdon.com! lol

1617561.jpg
:embarrassed::embarrassed::embarrassed::embarrassed: As if JTT didn't already have lots of fun watching me exersize... wink

And also I ordered Koss SparkPlug. It goes inside the ear. I wonder if it will sound as good as the ones my brother had with him once...

And since these two purchases costed over 16 euros, I had an extra special offer and got one DVD for only 7 euros. I picked a double DVD with Alvin and the Chipmunks & Night At the Museum (2 disc). big_smile Something for me, something for the kids.

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

Bought these today from Best Buy.

Price matched it from the Target ad and got each one for $12.98 (That is after about 10 minutes of them checking to see if they would price match because the cashier was making a big deal about the words "Collector's Edition".

1122703h.jpg

Basically I got one free plus some. Normal price at Best Buy was $29.99 each.

Bought this yesterday, on the day of release. It's a CD/DVD combo. The amazing this is that I got it cheaper in the store than it would have been on amazon.de. Happens very rarely.

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

Since it's dvd related I'll post it here.

The video rental store I used it buy a few used dvds closed up last week. No going out of business sale, nothing. Noticed it because I drove by and gone was all the posters on the windows and it was clear everything inside was gone.

What was nice that the used copies came in the regular cases and even came with slipcovers and inserts if they originally came with them.

Is the Forrest Gump dvd you bought 2 discs?
It's not a film I watch very often. But the effects are very well done.

Speaking of effects. I have watched the featurettes on the Lord of the Rings dvds and even though they go into great detail on how they did them, some of the effects still leave me confused how they actually achieved it.

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

I just watched Gump again last night.  I saw it about a week ago too.  I've seen it so many times it's ridiculous. I just love it.  Can't help myself.  If it comes on and I'm not doing anything, I get sucked in.  I've had the 2-disk DVD since it came out too.  smile

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

Aw, I wanted the 2-disc special edition, but it wasn't available here! THAT SUCKS!!! sad
I love this movie so much. Almost as much as TTC. big_smile Loved it since I saw it for the first time more than ten years ago. That's when I became a fan of not only Tom Hanks, but also of Gary Sinise.

EDIT: Boo. I'm disappointed. The DVD doesn't even have bonus material. That sucks! I want the Special Edition!!!

Bought this from Wal-Mart tonight

It's probably gonna take me forever to actually watch it all the way through.  The tagline was covered up with the price sticker, when I took off the wrapping and saw it, I lost it.

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

I'm hoping for that set that has both movies and the first book.  I've asked for it for Christmas.

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

Just came back from Meijers $9.99 TV season sale.

I was hoping to have been able to buy all 4 seasons of Knight Rider for $40 total. But sad to say it was only the first seasons of each show.

So just bought 3 TV DVD sets.

Normal prices are:
Knight Rider $21.95
JAG $19.95
Atlantis $44.95

Saved $57.00
