I own the dvd versions of all of those, well except that the Close Encounters is the old Collector's Edition.

Bought this today for $6.96

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

I love A.I.  It was on TV last night, but I didn't watch it.  I'd rather see it uninterrupted and widescreen.

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

I watched that movie once, but somehow I didn't like it and I don't even know why. I remember looking forward to it when it was about to come out in Germany, but when I watched it I was disappointed. I probably expected something else.

Bought these today. I had a $10 off coupon good for $40 or more on general merchandise at Meijer. So used that coupon to get these for about $15 each season.

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

Yup, I bought this one today.

1433003h.jpg

Was it worth the $20+ what I paid for it, no. But it does have a chuckle or two in it. The best part is at the very end when they sing their version of "I'm f***ing Mat Damon". The 2 actors that stood out the most to me was Matt Lanter & Nicole Parker.

I really didn't need to see Beuwolfs naked butt in that one scene.

Their must be lots of fans of this movie, because on Monday when I went to the store there was at least 6 copies on display, today there was the last one which is the one I bought.

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

OK, I didn't buy the following.

Some neighbor must have had a fight or something because they threw out some boxes of stuff. Well one of the boxes was full of dvds.

Most of these are in very bad shape, lots of scratches. How people can treat things they own so badly I don't understand.

Anyways, this is what I got from the box.

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

Wow, quite a catch!

I just bought this:
51NEl1OAEKL._SS500_.jpg

It's the UK version because the German version a) only comes out in February and b) has some of the signs and written things in the movie translated into German.

If you're thinking about a big, cute German Shepherd dog, than yes it's the same Rex! I used to watch it all the time.  smile

Oh yeah! I love this movie, I initinally bought it just for the soundtrack, because it's briljant, but after watching this movie I just love it smile it's hilarious. Jared Leto and Jake Gyllenhaal are really good in it.

I've never really watched it, but at least it's an original German show, right? A lot of TV shows on German TV are (cheap) rip-offs of US TV shows. Like they tried to create a German version or ER (which sucked).

I don't watch any German TV anymore, so I don't know what kinds of shows they're doing right now. However, I believe there still are a few good quality oringally German things around, like Tatort (which is how old now? 20 years? 30?). I also used to love Der Fahnder. Not everything that the Germans create on TV is bad, but I feel that there's a trend towards more trash rather than less these days.

Of course we also have our Germanized versions of Who Wants To Be A Millionnaire, American Idol, Big Brother and what have you. I don't watch any of that anymore.

Rex is Austrian. It was all filmed in Vienna. Might be a combined Austrian/German production though.

I also used to watch Wollf, not about a wolf wink It's a detective series that centers around the detective Andreas Wolff. I've watched a few eps of Tatort but it didn't appeal to me, just like Derreck or Der Alte.

Oh yeah, we also have the Dutchified (is that a word?) versions of Who Wants To Be A Millionnaire, American Idol, Big Brother and what have you. I don't watch any of that, neither do I watch any of the Dutch original series, except Baantje (a detective series).

I'm not sure if it was Austrian, since they replaced the owner of Rex a few times. The first one was called Moser, i used to watch it with my grandma when I was visiting her during holidays. That was fun! LOL
A few years later I started watching it again and they had him replaced with some guy called Brandtner, I think and nowadays there's this other new guy. I don't even know his name, since, like Tina, I don't watch German TV anymore. At least not if I have enough English stuff to watch.

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

Moser and Bradtner sound like very Austrian names. I wouldn't know if it was Austrian or German, I've never paid attention to that show. tongue

Derrick was so cliché, as was Der Alte. In later years, we used to watch Derrick only to take the mickey. I've never seen Wolff either. Tatort, there were only a few "cities" that I really liked, among them Munich, Cologne, Berlin and Münster. I haven't seen any Tatort for years, though.

I don't even know Wolff. Never heard of that. But Derrick's a classic, don't bash him! tongue I was actually sad when I heard that Horst Tappert died a few weeks ago.

Oh well, doesn't really matter, we know that they speak German in Rex wink

Oh yeah, I like Richard Moser the best. I saw Brandtner but only in about 10 episodes thanks to the weird tv schedule of the Dutch tv channels. Plus I was bummed out that they replaced Moser. Never saw the third guy, don't know his name either.
