Juliana Margulies Gives TV Guide Details on Doug Ross & Carol Hathaway's Return To ER!!
An interview with Juliana Margulies in the new issue of TV Guide (the one with "Dancing With The Stars" star Cheryl Burke on the cover) reveals details of her reunion with George Clooney on "ER." Bullet points:
* Clooney and Margulies shot for two days.
* Their scenes will apparently be seen in the series finale.
* The original plan was to keep their return a secret, but the paparazzi that constantly shadows Clooney's movements may have derailed that plan.

Amy Madigan was the perfect actress to play Sam's mom. She broke my heart and made me cry too. I've been a big fan of Amy's since Lovechild in 1982. But most especially since Streets Of Fire, of course.

Stupid effing trolls! A flame war broke out last night on the Race To witch Mountain board and I got distracted from the show. And it was FILLED with Morris & his girlfriend. On reflection this morning I am SO PISSED that I let some stupid troll bitch take my attention away from the show. I have no idea what happened after about the halfway mark.

They had to get her into surgery. For a while, they didn't know if they would have to do a hysterectomy, and they asked Morris about it. He said to do anything that's necessary. One of the last scenes is how he sits at her bed after surgery. It looks like she's still under (she's intubated too) and he takes her hand and tells her that repair work went well and that they can look forward to lots of olive-skinned children with red hair and freckles--if she would want that. It is then that she squeezes his hand. It was really sweet.

They left it vague about Carter. The last scene you see is him in a hospital bed, being interviewed by the TV crew (it's unclear whether it was when he was still at County or after he was transferred to Northwestern). He talks about how he left County five years ago because every day was the same. And then he says, after going away he realized that every day isn't the same, there's always something new. (At that point a monitor next to him goes off with an alarm beep, and he just switches the monitor off.) He countinues that just when you thought you'd seen it all, something will happen that you would have never dreamed. He lapses into silence, and he looks tired and droopy, and the episode ends. For all we know, it might have been his last words (though I surely don't hope so because I'm beginning to crave the show again, now that Carter's back).

There was also an important scene at the end where Tony brings Sam's mom the clean blanket back, like he promised. They talk for a little while, and Sam's mom tells Tony that she wants Sam to visit her every day, and if Tony could tell her that. Tony promises that once Sam has made up her mind, she always follows through with it.
