Re: Fanboys

Derek, that's great, glad you checked in. I've sent a message to Frosty from collider.com yesterday. He's seen one of the early cuts at a screening (before Brill touched it) and has been writing up things about the progress of the movie as well. Let's hope we get some more publicity.

The Stop Darth Weinstein guys have caught on already: http://blogs.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuse … =465624385 Awesome!

And I've sent my e-mail to the Weinstein Co. employee list just now. Let's see how many addresses will bounce. Six "out of office" notifications so far. smile

Re: Fanboys

Well, darn, most of the e-mail addresses we listed on the page don't work anymore. About 20 or 30 of them bounced back undeliverable. Just now I went through the list and removed the ones that don't work. We're left with 43 that should still be working.

Yeah, they probably laid a bunch of people off because the company is tanking big time.

Re: Fanboys

I got an email from someone else who's helping with the campaign and he said all but 4 of the addresses were bad.  Also, the marketing department at TWC has sent up a warning that they do not want to be harassed by another protest and that it could hurt rather than help our cause.  Yeah, bite me so-called marketing dork.  You have no idea how to sell this film.  And that has always been the real problem.

Also, I just got word that they are going to put a feature on the official movie site where you can vote for the city you want it to come to.  If that happens, it's pretty damn cool.  We'll switch to using that.  Now, I'm not ready to get too excited about the idea yet because I really do not trust these people.  They've lied too many times.  But let's all keep an eye on the site and see if this feature does go up...

Re: Fanboys

I got the e-mail about the bouncing addresses too, and I had already answered it. I didn't realize it was sent to all of us. The e-mail I sent to the Weinstein employees was polite, so I don't think I was harrassing anoyne. How can us e-mailing these people hurt the movie any more? They're not gonnna pull it out of theaters or put a hold on expanding it to more cities because a bunch of fans e-mail Weinstein Company employees.

The voting feature is pretty cool. But I'll bet Europe will not be on the list. Hope the DVD comes out fast, I have a feeling the rest of the world is not gonna see Fanboys in theaters.

I also just got an e-mail that Premiere Props will be selling some of the original movie props and costumes, probably on eBay like they did with stuff from Alpha Dog, The Invisible, etc. Stay tuned for more news on that.

Re: Fanboys

Could be true.  But it comes from a reliable source that if we flood them with emails and we're rude, it'll do more harm than good.  And that voting at this email addy is the best way to go for now.  Trust me, I'll call bullshit if I smell it.  You know me!  wink

Re: Fanboys

Well, look at that, a scene from the reshoots. smile

Here's also a Fanboys widget that you can share wherever else you post. Please spread the word: http://www.clearspring.com/widgets/497a … d7d82b9758

http://www.clearspring.com/widgets/497a4aff2994a28a?p=497ae3d7d82b9758

Copy and paste code for Facebook, MySpace, etc. can be found when you click the asterisk in the bottom right corner of the widget.

Re: Fanboys

Yep, it's a pretty funny and cool scene (even though it was directed by Brill).

And I can't believe the Weinsteins are going for the "Road Trip" thing in the widget they created. It's like, Hey, we're only releasing the movie in 8 cities, so you if you wanna see it, you better damn well do like the fanboys in the movie and take a 1000 mile trip to drive out to the nearest theater that shows it. Sweet idea, but here's a reality check for you: No one is gonna do that.

Re: Fanboys

I feel kinda stupid, but can you explain what the hell a widget is and what exactly we're supposed to do with it?

Re: Fanboys

Take a look at our front page. The widget's on there. It's kind of like a little application that you can put in a webpage. Not sure if this will make any sense to you, but...

Today when people use the word widget, in a Web 2.0 world, they are referring to piece of self-contained code — a small application actually, that opens up a doorway to a much larger application.  To this end, you can find widgets that provide stock quotes and news, search boxes for Google, eBay and other popular search-based Web sites, clocks, counters, games, feeds and more.

source: http://www.webopedia.com/DidYouKnow/Int … idgets.asp

In this case, it's a little animated graphic thingie that let's you click different Fanboys links. With the right code, you can embed it in your Facebook, MySpace, LiveJournal, website, etc. so that others can see it, share it and/or click on it.

Re: Fanboys

Right on, I'm curious to see what props they're gonna be offering out.

Jacen and I were at the movies last night and decided to take a couple of pics with the Fanboys poster in the lobby. Even though it's the poster no one really cares for, we still had to do it big_smile

Re: Fanboys

Awesome! Nice photo, now please without the blur. tongue Glad to see they're putting posters there, at least. Though, where was this? Albuquerque? I thought the movie wasn't playing there? What's the point of putting posters where the movie's isn't gonna play?

I emailed requesting Toronto, Canada. This is just an idea but would it help to email the theatres and ask them to request the movie...is this possible or just annoying. Just an idea?

Re: Fanboys

Elaine just told me she saw a poster in Detroit.  And there was that poster in San Diego.  So posters are obviously going up in the expansion cities.  Which is great!  I like what Sean did here.  If we see posters in our theaters, let's take pictures!
