FYI just made arrangements to see the film on opening night at the #1 movie theater in America, the AMC 42nd Street in the heart of Times Square in NYC. The audience should be quite interesting. I'll bring my camera.

The only thing there I haven't seen before is the behind the scenes thing and I can't get it to play for me without freezing up every two seconds. Maybe you guys will have better luck. This has been a very frustrating day for me and I'm over it already.

Listened to the Forcecast. It's really good. Nice chunk of Chris in there. Yum! And I learned a couple of things I didn't know. My favorite thing Kyle talked about --- cuz I'm a girl not a geek --- is that yeah, he and Jaime met onset, but they didn't have a chance to talk much. Months later, after the first cut of the movie was complete, he had Chris and Jaime over to his place to watch it and that's when he and Jaime reconnected and started seeing each other. How sweet! Chris was there at the start of that relationship and he'll always be part of Kyle and Jaime's love story.
Kyle talked about losing that beautiful scene where Linus throws his pills away and surrenders to his journey at the "Awesome" Canyon --- because they couldn't get permission to shoot at the Grand Canyon. He loved that moment. Says it should be on the DVD. It better be! If you don't know what I'm talking about, it's the first thing I posted in the Deleted Linus thread...
http://www.chris-marquette.com/forum/vi … 543#p25543
Kyle also apologizes for some Weinstein jokes in advance. Hee. He said breaking up that moment between Linus and The Chief for a cheap laugh was "not us, not us!".
There's a lot of information in there about how everything went down. Check it out if you really want to go behind the scenes on this one.

It's not just you having issues with the site. Here at work, I can't even get the page to load. It stays black and Internet Explorer says there are "errors on the page". So I'll look at this at home. Maybe I can convert the video somehow.
Am I being a pessimist or a realist when I say we shouldn't put all our hopes into getting on the DVD what all these people are promising. Maybe I've been burnt one too many times. Nick Cassavetes promised us an awesome Alpha Dog DVD with tons of extras, deleted scenes, behind the scenes footage, etc. What did we get? A barebones DVD with just the movie and a few lame extras hardly worth mentioning. Luke Eberl promised deleted scenes on the Choose Connor DVD. What did we get? No extras to speak of. The Weinstein Company and Kyle promised us both cuts of the movie on the DVD and deleted scenes, and I guess it would make sense to put all the exclusive Comcast stuff on it too. I'm sorry, but I'll believe it when I see it.
I didn't get to listen to the Forcecast yesterday, but it sounds like it's well worth checking out. Will do so when I find the time.

I listened to the ForeCast for almost an hour, then I had to stop because my concentration went away. I'll finish it later, but yeah, it's really interesting.
I don't put high hopes in the DVD (anymore). I'll just buy it if I'll have the chance to sometime to have my collection of Chris movies complete. I saw this movie on a private screening, which is something I would have never expected to attend and I want that to remember as a good thing, so I don't expect anything else from it.

The only thing there I haven't seen before is the behind the scenes thing and I can't get it to play for me without freezing up every two seconds.
It froze for me too, so I grabbed it off the site and played it from my hard drive. The b-roll thing isn't all that great. It's basically a sequence of 5 to 10 second chunks of behind-the-scenes footage, but nothing that's really fun or worth bragging about. To me it looked like someone just just let the camera roll, filming filmmakers making a film. It's nothing like the "Disturbances in the Force" behind-the-scenes reel. This isn't even cut together to make sense or to be funny. Chris is in it here and there, but there's no dialogue to speak of. Like I said, really not all that great at all.
However, Frosty has two clips of scenes I have not seen popping up online elsewhere. It's a clip from the Halloween party scene and a clip with Shatner. Some of that was in the trailer(s), but these scenes posted are longer than what was seen in the trailer.
If they keep releasing clips from the movie all over the place, very soon the whole movie will be online in chunks. According to my count, there's eight different clips of scenes from the movie out there now.

The difference between this and Alpha Dog and Choose Connor is that, in those cases, there were no "extras" of any kind that were posted anywhere before the DVDs came out. So it was all talk. In this case we have, for example, all the Comcast material. I can't imagine any way that all that stuff on Comcast wouldn't end up on the DVD. In fact, in my experience, that's exactly what all that is -- the DVD extras being delivered in advance through an exclusive deal.
I've never seen any "extras" (deleted scenes, interviews, etc.) posted as "exclusives" on sites like AOL, Yahoo, etc. that didn't turn out to be the DVD extras. In general, that's what they were created for -- they are made to be the DVD extras, and then a deal is cut to show them at these outlets as "exclusives."
I can't imagine any way that the DVD wouldn't have the material being shown on Comcast. It would mean that they did all those segments only for Comcast and that would be a very bad business decision, not to mention that the contracts the talent has with the producers generally do not allow that. Nor do the unions. The actors, photographers, editors, etc. who do those "extras" generally do them primarily for the DVD itself. The fact that the distributors then dole them out on AOL, Yahoo, MSN, Comcast, etc. is just an ancillary.
That said, anything can happen (Larry covers his ass lol).

None of us has seen the Comcast specials, but from the sound of it, they're pretty cool. Larry, you have a point when you say it doesn't make sense not to put them on the DVD, so let's cross our fingers that's what's gonna happen. Kyle was specifically talking about the canyon scene, I'm curious to know if that one's among the Comcast exclusives. Guess we'll see when the DVD comes out.

I have to admit I haven't watched them. I really try to avoid seeing any trailers or clips before seeing a movie. I prefer to go in as cold as possible.
Would the canyon scene be a deleted scene or one of the clips? That would narrow it down and maybe I could go check them out instead of watching the whole package.

It would be a deleted scene. It didn't make the final cut. Linus is throwing away his pills, that's the one Kyle was talking about. (And I know how you feel, normally I also try to avoid knowing too much about a movie before seeing it. If I can.)

Speculation is fun, isn't it? Well, this is the end of speculation because I asked Kyle over email and he said yes, the Comcast stuff is the same stuff that's intended for the DVD. As to the old idea of having "both versions" on the DVD. That's out the window because there's not two versions anymore. There's only one. TWC only ever agreed to both versions on the DVD when they needed to find a way to shut the fans up who were screaming for the cancer version. Now that there's a definitive version, there's not going to be a 2-version DVD. That's kind of covered in the Forcecast. Everyone now feels that we have the best version possible. But the deleted scenes will be part of the DVD. If you don't want to believe that, I can't help you.

Here are the deleted scenes. I just fast forwarded through them:
1) Six Fingered Man 1:05
2) Big Chuck Board Room :50
3) Sex with Ewok or Wookie 1:40
4) William Katt Scene 1:33
5) Kyle as Yoda 2:25
6) -- at this point the Comcast connection froze but it was a scene with Kevin Smith. I got a message saying I had to call Comcast support. this is VERY common with their On Demand. Now I can't get into On demand at all.
I did see a lot of Chris in there. I didn't see anything about pills being thrown away but I can't go back and look now.

That's good to know, glad we get to see all those Comcast extras eventually. I'm not sure if I should be annoyed that the cancer-free version won't be on the DVD. As much as I hate the concept, I think I still would have liked to see for myself how much it sucked.
Also, thanks, Larry. Dan, the six fingered man will be on the DVD! Yay! Doesn't sound like the canyon scene is among the ones you listed.

That doesn't mean it won't be on the DVD. Kyle LOVES that scene. And I bet if we make sure he knows how much we want to see it, it'll be there. It's only like a 15 second scene. Maybe that's why it's not among the Comcast scenes.

T, I think we're more or less seeing it. Because the final cut has most of the big Brill jokes, but also has our beloved plot and ending. It's a compromise. The DVD might contain the alternate ending in the deleted stuff. That's enough for me. Though Kyle did hint at an eventual definitive version somewhere down the road --- probably Brill-free and containing all the sick Linus stuff we don't get in the final cut.
