I really enjoyed Jumper. It's not the most fantastic film but it's very enjoyable.

I know. The first time I watched it was on a plane, might have been my flight to Toronto last year. I only watched it because nothing else was on that sounded remotely interesting. And I was positively surprised. You know, I don't even really like Hayden Christensen, but I did enjoy the movie a lot. Like you said, not the greatest movie ever, but I saw it in the store for just 10 bucks and thought, Hey, I'd actually love to see it in widescreen again, on a decent size screen with proper audio. So I bought it. I watched the DVD two nights ago, and I enjoyed it a lot the second time around too.

I watched it. I loved it... but I hated it. There's a secret Elisha's character has, it's revealed towards the end even though you get a hint near the beginning... hits a little too close to home for me. But it was a cute, quirky romantic comedy. It might not be classified as a comedy because it had parts that were dramatic/depressing, but the majority was just two people who are complete opposites having a chance meeting and falling in love. Which is basically the bones for all romantic comedies. The ending was a little cliche, but what romantic comedy isn't?
Ok, now that I'm done babbling... like I said, it just hits a little too close to home right now. If I wasn't going through what I am, I would probably love it all around.

I prefer romantic drama to the kind of crappy comedy that's always a hit. I also prefer quirky. And I'd like to see a grown-up Jesse Bradford movie where he's not an asshole. I don't mind a wee bit depressing either. Have you ever seen Bed Of Roses?

It sounds like this one is along the same lines. Sort of. You know I hate comparing movies to each other for the most part.

Yeah, it kind of sounds along the same lines. I haven't seen it though. I know My Sassy Girl is a remake of a Korean movie, which has the same name when translated.
It's not a cardboard cut out romantic comedy, but it's more funny than dramatic. Only near the end is it dramatic. There's no prat falls in this movie. I know you hate those. There's a few parts where she gets drunk and makes kind of an ass out of herself. But no prat falls. The whole girl-gets-fall-down-drunk thing might seem a little... overdone and prat fally, but it's not. Honestly, once you find out what's wrong with her, you'll feel sorry for her.
Netflix it. I think you'll like it.

Just had a look at these. The Gag Reel is only for one scene, which is when Toni Collette is in the car with Steve Carell after picking him from the hospital. It's a minute and a half long but its quite amusing, as Toni Collette turns the film into one of those R rated romantic comedies.
It was also interesting seeing Paul Dano in his Sunshine costume and wearing glasses. They just did not go well together.

My thoughts on the 2 that I recently watched that I bought recently.
Dragon Wars: Is kind of like two movies in one. First you have the Chinese part where the 'Evil' guy and his Dragon army attacks a village in search for a young woman with a special birthmark on her shoulder. Why are they searching for her, because she is somehow going to transform him into a dragon.
Then we are in modern time U.S. where a young male reporter is the re-incarnated protector of the birthmark woman from the Chinese part of the movie. Well the Dragon army appears and starts to search for the re-incarnated birthmark woman. Eventually the two meet and try to escape the Dragon Army. Eventually they are caught.
Now somehow they are transported to some other worldly place and she is about to be sacrificed so that guy can be transformed into a dragon. The protector escapes and prevents that from happening. The good Dragon appears and she (birthmark woman) emits some sort of glowing ball of energy from her body which goes into the Good dragon and the two dragons battle.
My thoughts:
Fairly good visual effects. Adequate acting. But the story was disappointing to me. The poster art and even the ads led me to believe that the good/evil Dragons was battling each other in the U.S. city, not this boring search for the woman story. Really only two good battles, the first one in China and the Dragon attack in the city. Just not enough battles or even action in it.
How exactly does this Dragon army appear after 500 years? Dragons are roaming around in the suburbs and a major city with nobody hardly noticing them at all. The military only does battle once in the city and gets wiped out far too easily and is never seen again.
Sure it's well made but the story left me disappointed. If I had to rate it right now on an A to F scale, I would say a C-.
Zoom:
Bought this because of Tim Allen.
About 80% of the film is about Tim's character training and "babysitting" these new children with super-human abilities. A few cute sequences, but fairly predictable as well.
All this leads up to is a battle with Tim's characters brother is a bad guy and has been in another dimension all of these years. To put it short, they defeat him, he changes to being good and they form a new Superhero team.
Again, the fx was good, but for a Superhero type of movie it was kind of boring. Kind of like X-Men light for kids.
I've seen the other film similar to this called 'Sky Kids' on cable and I think that one is better than Zoom. Again a disappointment for me. I would give it a grade of C.

Out of those lot, i've only seen The Living Daylights (i'm an uber-bond fan, so that explains that one) and Superhero Movie (which i admit did enjoy and was a nice change to what Friedberg and Seltzer gives the audience).
I've never heard of Stop-Loss, but it does have an interesting cast.

I saw Sunshine on cable a little while back, after you mentioned it being an original sci-fi movie, Illinois. It's weirdly compelling in a way, and very watchable. But it's pretty depressing.

Watched Meet Dave yesterday.
It's actually an ok movie.
Hopefully this won't give too much away.
Early in the film a small orb crash lands on Earth. This Orb was sent to Earth to absorb all of the salt from the worlds oceans to save their home planet. The crew starts to change after their contact with humans. A mutiny happens aboard and 'Dave' gets taken over. Eventually the Captain retakes command just in time to prevent the orb from absorbing the salt from the oceans. They leave Earth in the end.
As with comedies, it's a hit and miss. Some jokes work and some don't. It's also strange to hear Murphy in his un-typical Murphy voice. I think the best performances are by Elizabeth Banks as the boys mother and by Austyn Myers as her son. The visual effects are very good.
Is it a life changing movie? No. But it's also not as terrible as some made it out to be either. On a scale of 1-10, I think I would give it a 6.5.
