Cool artwork!

BTW the release date was actually announced last December 15 so that's been official for awhile.

I don't think this has been announced anywhere else yet but I am pleased to report that Michael Welch has just officially signed on for New Moon. :applause:

Great news about Michael. I like the artwork, though it's not really a surprise it would look pretty much like the first movie's logo.

Re: Twilight (contains spoilers for all books and the movies)

I hope it's not too soon to start talking about the third movie in the series, Eclipse.

Summit has set a release date of Wednesday, June 30, 2010. It's only seven months after New Moon but the two films will be shot very close together. It's a Wednesday because it is the first day of the five-day Independence Day holiday weekend (July 4th falls on Sunday),

Short synopsis from Summit press release:

"As Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge, Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob — knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf. With her graduation quickly approaching, Bella has one more decision to make: life or death."

Also, the titles for New Moon and Eclipse will now add The Twilight Saga's before the names.

Re: Twilight (contains spoilers for all books and the movies)

I finally saw Twilight in theater yesterday. It was almost like having my own private showing since there was only six other people there. And I had the best seat. big_smile I still like the movie the same as before: first half was stiff and made me think it was badly done; second half I loved. I'm starting to see the movies and the books as separate things; don't compare them so much anymore. Of course it was expected that the movie wouldn't be as good as the books. The movie didn't look that much different that my torrent, but I noticed there was 10-20 seconds in the kissing scene that was missing from the torrent; and the final credits of course. It was a nice experience. Two hours just for me to relax... big_smile

The weather was horrid when I drove back home. Icy and a small snow storm. Our car is really crappy in situations when I have to stop on icy crossroads and start going again... I guess I've got my reflexes to thank again for getting back home in one piece..

Re: Twilight (contains spoilers for all books and the movies)

Our theatre was pretty full last week but I remember when my friend and I went to see Nights in Rodanthe, there were only two other people in the room with us. That was kind of cool. LOL But at least we didn't have any teenage boppers (this time I'm spelling it right! LOL) there with us, that was good, too.

That's interesting. I wonder if you saw an earlier cut, because after the film was "finished" they did some recuts (just a few weeks before it was released!) and one of the things they did was to extend Rob and Kristen's kissing scene.

That's the danger of watching bootlegs online.  You never know what you're getting.  I was so disheartened by people saying they were going to watch Fanboys online because it wasn't playing near them.  If they do that, they could end up watching any one of the number of different cuts and not see the real movie the artists intended.  If they end up seeing the Brill cut with the stupid, downer ending, they're going to HATE it.

I have to say, I did not "enjoy" the kissing scene as much as I did when I was reading it. But well, when I was reading it, I wasn't thinking of Spunk Ransom, so ... lol

Re: Twilight (contains spoilers for all books and the movies)

Here's a quick box office update. Twilight has broken $190M domestically.

The film is still showing legs. Of the top 36 films this weekend, of all the films that dropped, Twilight had the smallest percent decrease (6.1%). In fact it was the only single-digit drop of all the films that declined.

It went from #27 to #24 an took in another $460,000, for a domestic total of $190,094,000.

I heard that they offered the direction of Eclipse to Drew Barrymore. Don't know how much truth is behind that, though.

Re: Twilight (contains spoilers for all books and the movies)

That actually doesn't sound half bad.  I doubt it though.  They're gonna film New Moon and Eclipse back-to-back, wouldn't it just be easier to just keep Chris Weitz on?

Drew Barrymore will definitely not be directing Eclipse. However, it is true that Chris Weitz will not be directing it but that is because he will be more valuable in the post-production of New Moon.

Therefore, his brother Paul Weitz will be directing Eclipse.

New Moon and Eclipse will not be shot back-to-back, however. Eclipse will have a separate production company (i.e., personnel, crew, etc.).

New Moon begins shooting on March 23 in Vancouver. They may also be shooting in Volterra, Tuscany, Italy.

Breaking Dawn is now officially an optioned property, that is, Summit has acquired the rights. Production will begin mid-2010.

Here are some more details about the hour-long extras on the 2nd of the two-disc DVD to be released on March 21:

    * Audio commentary by Catherine Hardwicke, Kristen  Stewart, and Robert Pattinson
    * Muse music video: "Super Massive Black Hole"
    * Paramore music video: "Decode"
    * Linkin Park music video: "Leave Out All the Rest"
    * Five extended scenes with director introductions
    * Five deleted scenes with director introductions
    * Seven-part documentary: "The Adventure Begins: The  Journey from Page to Screen"
    * Comic-Con "fandom" piece
    * Comic-Con NY sizzle reel
    * Three trailers
    * Penelope  trailer

In addition, the Borders set will have:

       1. Exclusive Twilight Cast Interviews with Kristen Stewart (Bella) and Robert Pattinson (Edward)
       2. Exclusive Twilight Cast Interviews with Cam Gigandet (James)
       3. Exclusive Twilight Cast Interviews with Edi Gathegi (Laurent) and Rachelle Lefevre (Victoria)
       4. Exclusive Red-Carpet Interviews from the Twilight Movie Premiere
       5. Exclusive Never-Before-Seen Red-Carpet Footage! Includes extra interview footage with Kellan Lutz (Emmett), Ashley Greene (Alice), rock band Paramore, and Nikki Reed (Rosalie)
       6. Exclusive Borders Book Club: Stephenie Meyer talks about the Twilight Saga

Tri-Fold Packaging

    * The finish of the rigid case is a tactile coating called "soft touch", which is a smooth, almost velvety/rubbery matte finish. A pattern of tree branches will be foil stamped over the matte coating, which creates beautiful tone on tone imagery. The title treatment is foil stamped in a silver/blue, which completes the effect.

Exclusive Photo Cards

    * The exclusive photo cards are printed on 2-sided pearlescent shine stock, which has a sparkle effect imbedded in the paper. The (10) photo cards look really amazing on this special stock, and the back sides have the same tree pattern from the inside of the rigid case, carrying the design throughout.

And then there's Walmart...

BENTONVILLE, Ark., March 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Walmart today announced detailed plans to bring teens, women and "Twilighters" of all ages more access to their beloved Twilight story as it gears up for the March 21 DVD release from Summit Entertainment. Bringing "Twilight shops" to all Walmart stores next month, the retailer announced today it will also host midnight events and giveaways in its 24-hour stores upon the DVD's release, including a program for fans to interview Twilight cast member Taylor Lautner on BlogTalkRadio.

Today, its special micro site www.walmart.com/twilight shares more details on these events, viewing party ideas, new behind-the-scenes movie footage, and a way to engage friends with a create-your-own electronic invitation ("eBite") on the site.

"Fans of all ages have fallen in love with the Twilight series and we will bring to as many as possible special access to the stars, great priced products and additional, memorable activities around this DVD movie release, both in our stores and online," says Greg Hall, vice president, Merchandising at Walmart.

Behind the Scenes with Taylor Lautner (aka Jacob Black) on BlogTalkRadio

In partnership with BlogTalkRadio, Walmart will host actor Taylor Lautner, who plays "Jacob Black" in Twilight, on the "Stardish Radio" program March 9, 2009 at 9 pm (EST). Speaking from the set of The Twilight Saga's New Moon, Taylor will take questions from fans "logged in" to BlogTalkRadio with hosts Jo Ann Kubasek (Stardish Radio) and Amy Clark (MomAdvice).

"BlogTalkRadio is excited to join forces with Walmart to bring Twilight fans direct access to one of the year's hottest new actors," said Alan Levy, CEO of BlogTalkRadio. "By logging onto our live broadcast, they'll be able to interact with other members of the hit film's rapidly-expanding global community to talk about the movie and hear directly from Taylor about his experience."

Midnight Twilight Events and In-Store Giveaways

Walmart plans to give fans thirsting for more Twilight a good reason to be at its 24-hour stores late Friday evening Mar. 20 as they await the midnight DVD movie release. Among store activities will be ideas and products for fans looking to host their own Twilight viewing party. And, especially for Twilight super fans, Walmart has reserved exclusive Twilight gifts for those first 50 fans in line to purchase the DVD movie at each 24-hour store.

Send an "eBite," see exclusive movie footage, download your Twilight widget

If you ever wondered what a Twilight vampire bite might look like on you, and want a way to gather your Twilight friends together, Walmart.com/twilight has the perfect "eBite" (electronic invitation) for groups and events. Fans can use the eBite to invite fellow fans to activities like the Taylor Lautner interview, midnight DVD movie release or their at-home Twilight viewing party.

In addition, customers can visit the Twilight pages on Walmart.com to see new behind-the-scenes movie footage and to download a widget that tests their knowledge daily with Twilight story trivia.

Walmart this spring aims to be the source for fans everywhere to find more Twilight with in-store and online activities and the best prices for accessories, apparel, books, music and the upcoming DVD movie. All Walmart stores will have a special Twilight section days before the DVD movie release, pulling together a wide assortment of Twilight items. Pre-orders for the single disc DVD movie (a Walmart exclusive for only $17) and the special edition DVD are available today at Walmart.com.

The Borders one sounds the most appealing to me. Now I guess I'll just have to find a Borders on March 21, wherever we end up going in or around DC that day. smile

I don't trust Walmart at all. On more than one occasion I have purchased a DVD or CD at Walmart because of what they called an exclusive -- even saying "available only at Walmart" on a sticker -- only to find the same bonus material elsewhere.

I'd go with the Borders set if I could only get one. There are other ways to get the bonus material you're missing. whistling.gif

I already have mine pre-ordered from Barnes and Noble.  As much as I'd like the one from Borders, I'm not gonna spend fifteen dollars I don't have for features I'm probably not gonna watch.

Re: Twilight (contains spoilers for all books and the movies)

I wanted to buy the movie book today, but the stupid bookstore didn't have it. They only had the German version. Hmpf.

Do I look like I'd wanna buy the German version? No!!! :fedup: Well, there is still amazon. But if I had known about that earlier, I would have purchased it with my latest online shopping tour ...
