Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

I might give it a shot.  But the naked torso scene is one of the darkest ones in the movie so it'll probably be impossible to see.  But I might have a look, just to see.  ;-)

And I won't feel like I'm stealing it because I already paid to see it twice and of course I will be purchasing the DVD.

Yes, I'm up too late again.  Going to bed now.  Just happened to remember that I wanted to say to the AD refugees that when I asked Chris what he was proud of among his recent films, he said Alpha Dog.

Not to be rude, Illinoisguy, but I would really appreciate if spoilery Alpha Dog things were only posted in the spoiler thread that was created especially for that. I'm THE biggest spoiler avoider, so I'd love for this thread to be kept spoiler-free. Would you mind if we moved your post to the spoiler thread and deleted it from here?

Thanks for sharing, however, even though I didn't actually read what you wrote.

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

There's a chance that AD might come out on DVD in April, based on Universal's other releases.  Just think, TECB at Tribeca, TI in theatres and AD on DVD.  What a month!  Can't wait!  We've definitely gotta get another interview then.

I found a couple more Chris pics that I think we have similar ones of but not the same ones. Some are from IESB. Take a look:

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

Dude, a couple?  When you said a couple I thought two.  I almost didn't even pop over here to look!  I count eleven.  A couple does NOT equal 11!!!  And some of them are very different than what we've had before.  For instance, this is the first time I've seen his shoes.  And yes, his pants are way too long!  So much for the perfectly tailored suit!  roll

And why does he look more into his co-star than his date?  Hmmmm?  hmm

Anyway, love them!!! Thanks for posting them.   Of course they look like crap on the work computer.  Can't wait to see them at home.

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

When I say "a couple", I mean "a few". Is that not how you use that in English? If so, I've been using it wrong for years. 11 is a few. The more, the merrier, right?

And while we're ragging on his apparel, the tie is also a little long, IMHO. Ties should stop at the trouser waistband. His is clearly knotted in a way that it's longer than that.

Can I just say I still like him? wink So I'll shut up now. And btw... IESB said "Chris Marquette and guest". I think WireImage is the only place that actually lists Cristina's name.

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

A couple = two.  A few = 3-5.  More than 5 = several.  Eleven would be several.

I think his tie would be the right length if it was tie properly and pulled tight.  But I really don't care for ties so I like that he's wearing it loose.

Now that I can see these on a screen with normal resolution, they're great!

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

Okay, not to be a wise-ass, but Webster's dictionary says:

Main Entry: cou·ple
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English, pair, bond, from Anglo-French cuple, from Latin copula bond, from co- + apere to fasten -- more at APT
1 a : two persons married, engaged, or otherwise romantically paired b : two persons paired together
2 : PAIR, BRACE
3 : something that joins or links two things together: as a : two equal and opposite forces that act along parallel lines b : a pair of substances that in contact with an electrolyte participate in a transfer of electrons which causes an electric current to flow
4 : an indefinite small number : FEW <a couple of days ago>

I mean, I know that a couple can also mean two, as in married couple. But when I say "a couple of something", I always mean a few. I will give you that 11 is maybe more than a few, though. smile

I'm not a big tie person either, but they can look very classy if tied right and worn with the right outfit. Chris's is not bad at all. When I went suit shopping with Lars a few months ago, we picked this really nice black/dark gray/dark purple diagonally striped tie that I really liked. It went very well with the dark gray suit he bought. (And the clerk who sold him the suit thought we were a couple. LOL)

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

I wouldn't want to ever be in a couple that was more than two. And a couple will never equal 11.  That's all I'm saying.

We're not arguing, are we? As far as I'm concerned, we're just discussing. But you're right, who needs to discuss semantics when you have new Chris pics to look at. I'm sorry you're sick, Anne. Hope you feel better soon.

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

Here's an interesting interview with Nick that I haven't seen before:
http://grouchoreviews.com/index.php?mod … scope=page

G: Right…one of the things that I noted while watching the film is that for a lot of those young actors—I noted Shawn Hatosy and Chris Marquette and Anton Yelchin and Emile Hirsch—for all of those guys, their work in this film struck me as unique in their body of work thus far.

NC: Uh-huh.

G: And I wonder if you attribute that to anything in particular about the process. Was it that build up to shooting or something about the day-to-day filming?

NC: Well I can take them one at a time. Emile does the tortured kind of loner guy. He does that. That's usually—you know what, it's weird. We must remember that we do this—we're not hobbyists. We do this for a living. We make money. And kind of the financial side of that is that people always want to be first to be second. If they've seen you do it once, they want to do it again and make money off of it.

G: Right, right, right.

NC: So actors keep getting offered the same type of parts that they've been offered before. And you become a certain type in that respect. Emile has never played anybody that has been physically a huge presence, or somebody that's been a tough guy. Anton is a miraculous actor. He can do anything. Chris Marquette, I feel the same way. He's just awesome. And Shawn Hatosy might be the most accomplished of all the actors, right there. He's very dear friend of mine, and even though this was a different type of part for him, Shawn has—he's a director's dream. You say, "What's the hardest part in this movie? Let's give it to Shawn. He'll figure it out. And I adore his work...

You hear that? "He's just awesome." Thank you, Nick. smile

Also, this is what appears to be the Italian movie poster. Quite different:

alpha-dog-poster-2.jpg

And if you want to read a review of someone who really doesn't like the movie, check this out:
http://domapp01.shu.edu/depts/affairs/S … enDocument

Here's an excerpt:
The rest of the supporting cast is equally as unintentionally hilarious. Chris Marquette must have made good friends with Hirsch on the set of "The Girl Next Door" because there is no other explanation for his role as a dysfunctional pothead.

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

Wow, cool interview! Nick's such a cool guy.

The poster ... well, maybe there are a lot of JT fans in Italy, so maybe they thought they need him on the cover. LOL I still like the other one more.

And I think here:

The rest of the supporting cast is equally as unintentionally hilarious. Chris Marquette must have made good friends with Hirsch on the set of "The Girl Next Door" because there is no other explanation for his role as a dysfunctional pothead.

is every comment completely needless. Whoever wrote this has not get the sense of that movie. Definitely not. (Plus he doesn't know what makes an good actor. Because Chris didn't get the role because of Emile.)

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

Nice stuff from Nick.  Thanks!

But why would I wanna read another review by someone who didn't like the movie when I've spent months reading that crap on IMDb?  No thanks.  And that idiot knows nothing about the casting process.  The fact that Chris worked with Emile once has nothing to do with his getting a part in AD.  It was the fact that he'd been hired by Matt Barry for FVJ and Matt loved him and introduced him to Nick --- who in turn fell in love with him --- that got him the job.

And for the record, Chris does not appear in one single scene with Emile.  He's not part of Johnny's gang.  He's just a hanger-on friend of Timberlake's Frankie who ends up in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Damnit, I wish people would check their facts before they shoot off their mouths!

$17,680? That's pitiful in the grand scheme of things. A May DVD release would be great. Can't wait to see it! Although if things go well, I will have seen it in the theaters by then.

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

Yeah, me too. With a little luck I may be travelling to Saarbrücken to see it with my dear fellow Chibi, but then it has to be dubbed and I don't know if it's going to be shown undubbed near here (the middle of nowhere), plus I don't know if I can afford watching it twice ... but well, otherwise I'll just wait for the DVD. I just hope they'll keep the Specials on the German DVD version.
