Isn't it fun to go back and listen to a CD you haven't heard in years? I think I might make this a habit. I got inspired when I heard a riff similar to one in an Ellen James Society song so I pulled out the Survivor's Parade CD. What a great record! I really need to get Reluctantly We on CD too. I love it even more.

The singer/guitarist on this song is the ex-girlfriend of Amy Ray of the Indigo Girls, Cooper Seay. I used to love seeing this band live. They were awesome, so punk.

That CD was good for about one listen for me before I couldn't take it anymore. Those songs are great in the context of the movie, but I can't listen to them outside of it. And now there's a TV commercial done in that style and I just about want to scream everytime it comes on.

is anybody here watching american idol?
we don't get it here in romania. but a friend of mine told me she listened to a guy from this competition and really like him. and she gave me the vid. and from that moment on i was hooked. i am now watching it online just to watch this guy. he's name is adam lambert.

i don't get all the thing about him being gay or not , i am more excited about him being really talented and exciting.
try listening to some of the songs he did on idol. they had a michael jackson week and he did black and white. i like o lot of mj songs but i always thought b&w to be really silly but adam sang it in such a way that it really got me to like it. and he also did " satisfaction " - let me tell you i still have dirty dreams about that performance. anyway, he did not have one bad song. i can't watch american idol in romania but i can watch the performances on the site i posted the link in the post above.

and i also would like to rumble on about something. here in romania being gay is still not accepted. i actually don't know anyone who is out except a guy on tv.
and i happen to like a lot of talented people who happen to be gay. i like adam now a lot. but i also am a figure skating fan and i like johnny weir a lot ( he is also american , maybe you know him ). i loved "queer as folk " - the american version.
and i had lots of my friends asking - yeah, you like that guy but you do know he's gay right? and they mean it like what's the point in liking a guy who is not into women. and i really don't get that. like if they were not gay they would have come all the to romania, make me get a divorce and sweep me of my feet??? :doh: i always find this question so weird. because nobody asks me what's the point of liking brad pitt? - yes, he's not gay but i am pretty sure even if he is into women he is not gonna come knocking on my door. and why is it that if a like the way a guy sings or the way he figure skates , i also have to have like another reason to like them? why is it that lots of people can't believe i like a guy just because he's talented.

ok, no need to say anything, just that this bothers me a lot and felt like saying it somewhere.

No, I understand. I happen to be a huge fan of a couple of late, great gay actors, Roddy McDowall and Tony Perkins. And yes, I think that they were both gorgeous and sexy and I don't give a crap that they were gay. I have also loved Derek Jacobi and Ian McKellan since the 1980's when I discovered them through Masterpiece Theater an PBS Mystery! I have lots of gay friends and I love a lot of gay movies and shows, including both Queer As Folk (US) and The L Word. As with everything else in my life, I like what I like and I make no apologies for it.

My hero right now is out gay political pundit, Rachel Maddow. To the ridiculous degree that I've been trying to get myself the same haircut as her. LOL! I watch her show everyday, religiously.

I think it would mean a lot to gay or questioning youth to have an out gay man as the next American Idol. A lot of them are struggling and positive role models help a great deal. Especially if you live someplace where you are not accepted. Sometimes just knowing that you're not alone is a life-saving thing. And knowing that people love you in spite of how they feel about that part of who you are can make all the difference in the world. That's why I think it's important that he could win.

ok, so i must be loosing it because i stayed up until now. it's 5.30 in romania. i wanted to see adam's performance tonight. he is my favorite and a close second is allison iraheta. and they both sang great tonight and they also had a duet together . awesome. but i have to wake up in like 2 hours to go to work.
