Re: Infestation (SPOILERS FOR THE MOVIE BEGIN ON PAGE 15)

I heard more inofficial stuff about the German distribution deal. This is not confirmed, but it looks like in Germany the movie will go straight to DVD. Hm. Not sure I like that, but at least it'll spare me the agony of seeing the movie play in theaters near me dubbed only. So I guess we'll have to wait what happens in the US. Would be surprising to see the movie come out on DVD in Germany earlier than in the US. Maybe there's still a chance it'll play in UK theaters. Then I'd definitely fly over there to watch it.

Then I hope there will be some decent extras on the German DVD. I hate when they limit them just for Germany.

Re: Infestation (SPOILERS FOR THE MOVIE BEGIN ON PAGE 15)

I guess what extras we get will depend on different things, among them a) the existence of material to put on there b) the willingness of whoever owns the material to release it for the DVD and c) if the distributor for Germany bought the rights to include extras on the DVD. A barebones German DVD that'll come out fairly soon will still be better than nothing at all. If they choose to release a DVD with any or more extras somewhere else, you can bet at least one of us will find a way to get it. smile

That's good news that it will at least be released on region 2. I hope it's released in region 1 though soon.

Re: Infestation (SPOILERS FOR THE MOVIE BEGIN ON PAGE 15)

That's excellent news for us. So I guess it looks like there's not gonna be a theatrical release in Europe. I think the plan for Germany was also to bring it directly to DVD. FYI: One of the UK DVD sites I checked gave it a 15 certificate.

The Icon Home Entertainment UK website doesn't even mention it. Idiots.

LOL!  That's HIGHlarious!  First SyFy picks up and mishandles JoA, now they've bought Infestation.  Hahaha.  Why the hell not, right?  A double dose if Chris is August is a beautiful thing.  big_smile

I can't wait to see this movie! I kind of wish it would be released theatrically though.

Re: Infestation (SPOILERS FOR THE MOVIE BEGIN ON PAGE 15)

Thanks for the updates, Illinois. I'm glad we finally have a US release date too, though it's really a shame it isn't being released theatrically. Maybe it'll start screening at some film fests, who knows? They have FrightFest in the UK (I think in September), maybe it'd be a good candidate to play there... I'm still kinda hoping for the German Fantasy Film Fest.

Well. if anyone is in South Korea, it is showing at the Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival.  I don't think I'll be able to make it.

LOL!  Those are some creative ways to get it seen, and I guess that's all that's important.  Frankly, at this point, I just want the damn DVD.  Anything else is gravy.

Re: Infestation (SPOILERS FOR THE MOVIE BEGIN ON PAGE 15)

I found a German review about the movie from someone who saw it at the Berlin Film Fest this year:

INFESTATION

5/10

source: http://forum.cinefacts.de/200430-berlin … views.html

The first paragraph is just a description of the plot. The last paragraph is the review. Basically, it's saying that Infestation has a feel like the monster movies from the 50's, but it's not done very cleverly (as compared to, e.g. Arac Attack). After the first half, it runs out of steam and becomes quite predictable without any original ideas. The effects range from pleasant to trashy, but Ray Wise saves the movie in the end. All in all, the movie is a predictable horror flick for those who have the urge to see every single monster movie out there. Rating is 5 out of 10.

Re: Infestation (SPOILERS FOR THE MOVIE BEGIN ON PAGE 15)

Fine.  But I'm not interested in seeing it as a monster movie (compared to Arac Attack --- whatever the hell that is), so I guess that assessment doesn't really mean much to me.

Re: Infestation (SPOILERS FOR THE MOVIE BEGIN ON PAGE 15)

I think the majority of us won't be watching this movie for the story and great special effects, right? wink

I haven't seen Arac Attack, but I've heard of it. It's some horror movie about a spider infestation.

The description of the plot has two interesting tidbits: Cooper is about to be fired shortly before the infestation begins, and his father is obsessed with weapons and has a bunker.

My friend made me see Arac attack when it was in the theatres, but I thought it was pretty lame. That's why I wasn't very exited when I heard of Infestation for the first time, but now I am actually looking forward to see the movie.

FYI Deb, Arac Attack was called Eight Legged Freaks in the US.  I remember it, but I didn't see it.

Haha, it never occurred to me that the movie might have a different English title. I mean, what's with the Germans? Why do they give American movies different titles that are in English??? You know, kinda like renaming Just Friends to Wild X-mas....

Re: Infestation (SPOILERS FOR THE MOVIE BEGIN ON PAGE 15)

Beats me.  LOL!  I just learned today that the big cheesy mini-series I was kind of interested in, Impact, is a US-German co-production.  The reviews are terrible so I'm kinda glad I forgot to watch part one last night.  Wonder what you guys will call it when it airs over there...?
