Re: Twilight (contains spoilers for all books and the movies)

Hahaha yesterday a popular radio announcer was making fun of how obsessed his girlfriend was with Twilight and then was just rambling. He hadnt read or seen twilight himself though and he starts talking about the baby on air, not realising what a HUGE spoiler that was. He got SOOO much hate mail, it was hilarious. Having read the books ages ago, I already knew but for those that had only gotten into Twilight through the movies, they were out for blood. I swear this guy is so lovable and it was so amusing just how large the response was to it. I found it amusing anyway...

No, I haven't, Mel.  I'll get around to it one of these days.

That is really great!  Wonder where she got all that footage.  Looks like something really bad happened to Alice's car.:o

The crash was the motorcycle, I think.  It looked to small to be the Porsche.

Yeah, probably so.  The yellow threw me.  Jake did some great work on those bikes.

Yeah, the yellow did make it confusing, but that's not footage from the movie.  Probably should have said that earlier :embarrassed:.  Hopefully the bikes in the movie will be red and black.   The only footage available from New Moon is from the real trailer.  The shots of Kristen crying are from The Messengers, I think.

That fanmade trailer is really good, even better than the original.

I wonder where the scenes that aren't in the new trailer came from. Like the yellow Porsche and all the stuff in Italy.

Re: Twilight (contains spoilers for all books and the movies)

Record ratings for Showtime's "Nurse Jackie" premiere last night -- 1.35 million viewers -- has earned the series a second season pickup.
Though the number is the combined total of its two Monday airings, that's still better than the premiere numbers for "Weeds," "Dexter," "Californication" and "The Tudors."

The season premiere of "Weeds" did pretty well too, drawing a combined 1.68 million people in its two airings. That's a 25 percent jump over last year's finale.

The new season of "Nurse Jackie" will start shooting later in the summer and premiere next year.

Read this on a torrent website.

Re: Twilight (contains spoilers for all books and the movies)

I didn't know it premiered already.  I guess I'm just used to the cable series premiering on Sunday and thought it was this weekend.  No biggie.  I'll watching on On Demand.

This is a fanmade New moon trailer that is praised to be better than the real one. It uses as much the video of the actual trailer as possible but it has been recut to many times better. It has better music and some of the words have been changed to match the book. There's a few short scenes that aren't in the actual trailer.

Re: Twilight (contains spoilers for all books and the movies)

That one's good too, but I like the one Laura posted a little better. So, when does Chris get to be in a movie that'll have so many creative, computer-savvy people in their fanbase? Though, come to think of it... I'd rather not have Chris become a modern day teen idol like Rob Pattinson. I think Chris would blush nine ways to Sunday if he was facing a crowd of hundreds, if not thousands of teenage girls screaming because of his mere physical presence.

Yeah, same here. I actually feel sorry for the Twilight cast. They cannot go outside anymore without having a crowd of paparazzi or crazy fans behind them. Poor people!

Re: Twilight (contains spoilers for all books and the movies)

I've read some comments on this movie and I'll paraphrase what they brought up.

1. If a vampire is hundreds of years old, how come he can keep up with all the terms, slang and music that modern day teenagers are into? Wouldn't he be into old classical music and have zero knowledge of what terms/slang that teens are using today. It would be kind of like when a parent tries to be hip with their kids and dress up like a teen and try to use their slang, but sticks out like a sore thumb and is laughed at.

2. If a vampire is hundreds of years old, then why is he lusting after a high school kid? Even though he may look like a teen, he really is very old, so wouldn't he at least be interested in someone in college or something, instead of a kid?

Just wanted to see what your guys reactions are to what I read on another board.

My own question is, what is so appealing about vampire movies in general?

Personally I find most of them rather dull and really never understood how the women in the movie get all gushy over someone who wants to such their blood (even when warned).

Re: Twilight (contains spoilers for all books and the movies)

Okay, I can't really answer this last question because I'm not into vampires as such. I think to me the Twilight books would have appealed just as much if the protagonists (or antagonists, depending on how you see it) had been humans, mutants or other creatures. I just like the characters and the stories that are being told. It's well written and entertaining--an easy read that takes you on an interesting journey.

Other than Twilight, I think the only vampire movie I've watched was Interview with the Vampire. I liked that one too, but more because of the acting and the story than because of the vampires as such. I guess to some people, vampires and the myths around them hold a certain kind of fascination that people are drawn to. Some people love science fiction, some love fantasy, some love vampire stories. I think we all have our own little "worlds" that we are fascinated by.

Also, I won't even attempt to comment on the first questions posted because the only answer I can think of is: Stephenie Meyer imagined it that way. The only other thing I can add is that Edward seems to be the only vampire in the Twilight universe that fell in love with a human high school girl. All the other vampires have vampire mates. It's not explained why Edward fell for a teenager, but does it have to be? Love isn't always rational, I'd even say it seldom is. Why do 20-year-olds fall in love with 60-year-olds and vice versa?

Hm, to take a stab at the first question after all, Edward and the other, younger-looking vampires are actually going to high school. They would pick up a lot of the vernacular there and start using it themselves.

I think they were hinting at that it's wrong for him to be in love with an underage girl regardless of what his outside age appears to be.

I only like three vampire movies.
1. The original Dracula
2. Bram Stoker's Dracula
3. Interview with the Vampire

Yeah, well, like I said, love isn't always rational or adheres to concepts such as right or wrong. I didn't really have a problem with it, but then again, I never looked at it from this angle. There is such a thing as overanalyzing, you know? wink

Re: Twilight (contains spoilers for all books and the movies)

Edward hasn't been to college since roughly the early 1900s, when it was unacceptable for woman to attend formal school.  He lives his life as a teenager, since he "died" at seventeen he'll never age past there, so he's kind of stuck in high school.  In the book and maybe the later movies, Edward does say he's had potential mates in other vampires, but he never felt for them what he does for Bella.

And the Edward in the books didn't use much slang, but he did sometimes.  He and his family had to blend into the ages they were playing and that meant picking up vocabulary from other people their ages.

I have no idea what the draw to vampires is, but I'm not that into the older vampire tales.  I do like Twilight, House of Night, Vampyre Academy and the young adult novel vampires being released now.
