"Only Hutch's voice is different..." So sayeth some German dude on Kyle's Facebook page. LOL! I know a German chick who will definitely beg to differ on that one. They all sound like they're on hellium, especially Windows.

Chris's German voice is horrible. WAY too high. Ugh. I can't believe I'm subjecting myself to 90 minutes of that. I wrote an e-mail to Capelight (German distributor) and begged them for free tickets. If fans who turn up in costume at their giant lightsaber in Berlin tomorrow night get a ticket for merely attending, I want a free ticket for promoting the hell out of this movie!
I just posted a news item on the site about it, btw. Not that the chances are very high a lot of Germans will read it, but you never know.

Good luck. Hope you get a ticket. You definitely deserve it and you'll probably hate the dubbing less if you don't pay for it.

I don't foster an illusions that they're gonna give me a free ticket. Life's just not fair that way. But at least I asked! (I did include a link to my rear window promo sticker...) I'm earning these guys more money too because Ralf and Dirk are probably going to go with me.

The German Star Wars website that published the articles from yesterday (starwars-union.de) has a short biography of the Fanboys actors, and they say this about Chris:
Man darf ihn ohne Übertreibung einen der wandlungsfähigsten Schauspieler seiner Generation nennen: Der gut aussehende, charmante und witzige Chris Marquette besitzt die seltene Fähigkeit, mit jeder seiner Figuren förmlich zu verschmelzen. Kein Wunder, dass der 24-Jährige bereits auf eine recht ansehnliche Filmografie blicken kann.
Translation:
Without exaggeration one can say he's one of the most versatile (in the sense of "chameleonic") actors of his generation: Good-looking, charming and funny Chris Marquette has the rare ability to literally merge with each and every one his characters. It is not surprising that the 24 year-old actor has already accumulated a sizeable filmography.
Yes! Finally someone noticed. Thank you!

Hm... I've checked the websites of three big Berlin newspapers, and none of them have anything about the Fanboys lightsaber promo event from last night. Headline was always the German premiere of Inglorious Basterds in Berlin or some other movies that are currently in the news. Either the event was a big flop or the papers didn't think it was worth reporting, even in the entertainment section.
I'm gonna see the movie again in the theater on Friday, together with two friends from the Trekdinner. Expect me to angrily rant about the horrible German dubbing afterwards.

The movie isn't showing at the playlist for my theatre yet, and I am not planning to see the German dubbing, so I'll just wait a little longer if my usual theatre is going to show the real version. I'd love to see it on big screen again.

Apparently, this is the list of theaters that will show it: http://www.starwars-union.de/sw/fanboys/seite/Im_Kino/
Neither the theater in Cologne nor in Düsseldorf is showing it in OV, so I'd say the chances are slim it'll come to Stuttgart in OV. But for your sake I really hope it happens!

Okay, so I watched the German version of the movie. I must say the translation was excellent, there wasn't anything that was wrongly translated. All the jokes worked in German too. The dubbing voices were still horrible, but I tried to ignore them. Worse than Chris's voice yet was Jay's voice. It really sounded like he was on helium. Didn't suit Jay at all.
Dirk and Ralf both liked the the movie and laughed a lot. There were eight other people with us in the theater (in the Friday 8:15 PM show), so it's safe to say Fanboys isn't going to become a big hit in Germany either. They had the Wookiee mask poster hung on the wall in front of the theater and I was tempted to steal it.
And here's a video of the (not so) spectacular promo thing with the lightsaber in Berlin: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b69irmIJbT8

I'm listening to my favorite radio program, and right now they're doing the new movie reviews. And Fanboys is this week's best pick. The reviewer loved it. They're also playing lots of clips from the movie and this guy loved the nerdiness of the movie. Very cool!

I finally got a chance to watch Fanboys last night, and I loved it. I'm leaving New York to go back to Florida tomorrow, so I wanted to catch it before I left...nothing like waiting until the last minute, right? Anyway, I don't have a lot of time to give a review or anything, but I did want to say that I thought it was a funny movie with a lot of heart. I have to admit, I have never seen any of the Star Wars movies, (something that surprises and horrifies people every time that I mention it lol) so I didn't really get any of the inside jokes, but I loved it nonetheless. Of course Chris was great, and I really liked how it was mostly about 4 friends who lost their way a little bit, but were able to put aside their drama to be a part of something that they all loved. I can definitely relate to that

WHAT THA F????? Did they use 12yearolds to dub the guys? And ... poor Kristen Bell. I couldn't even finish the clips. Too painful for my ears. I think I need to watch the real movie now. LOL

LOL! Fanboy's co-producer and Kevin's Spacey's business partner, Dana Brunetti bought a real stuffed alligator in Louisiana while overseeing the Fathers Of Invention shoot. Here he is having it hung in the new Trigger Street offices...
