Yeah, isn't it amazing how much prep work they need for a few minutes or seconds of film? Kind of a waste, isn't it? But I guess that's the way it goes. So, Sean, when's your next part as extra lined up? We need to get Gary Lundgren out to Albuquerque to shoot Calvin Marshall, so you can go ahead and harrass Chris on set!

Hey I'm always willing to stand in the background of a scene! But unfortunately there's nothing lined up. I did come across a shoot at my job a few weeks ago though.
There's a film called "In the Valley of Elah" that was being filmed here in Albuquerque with Tommy Lee Jones and Charlize Theron. They were doing a shot where Jones pulls up to the front of the airport terminal in a pick-up and he has a brief conversation with a female in the passenger seat before she gets out and walks into the airport. They took all evening to film this one scene. During the scene, there are tons of people walking by, as well as cars driving by, and after each take, each car had to reverse back to their starting position. There were about 30 cars total. It was pretty impressive to watch. I took a few pics with my camera phone but they are far from impressive. Anyways, since I work security, I decided to walk down to the shoot and talk to some of the crew guys since I recognized a few from Fanboys. They told me that it was the last day of filming and the movie was going to Tennesee for a awhile to finish up shooting and then they were done. I asked them if Tommy Lee Jones was a cool guy and they said "No". Lol. I'll leave out the expletives that they used, but basically, the general consensus was that he was not a pleasure to be around.

LOL. Well, he is a crusty old bastard after all. Or maybe we're all just spoiled from dealing with Kyle Newman's bunch.

I'm jealous. Why? Because I found that a Jaime King and a Pell James fansite seem to have a good quality DVD version of either the 10-minute highlight reel or the whole movie. They have great quality screencaps of Pell and Jaime up on their sites: http://www.jaimeking.net/gallery/index.php?cat=49 and http://www.pell-james.com/gallery/thumb … p?album=45.
I wanna!!! Kyyyyyyyyyyyyyle!!!!! Someone needs to nag Kyle to get that highlight reel to us. I'm pretty sure he forgot about us as soon as he left the con. Not that I blame him, I'm sure he has more imporant things on his mind. But we don't have his contact details, so we can't go nag him ourselves. Guess I'll have to keep sitting on my hands until I either get to see the movie in the theater (months and months later) or buy the DVD in the stores (at least a year later).
I'll go pouting for a minute or two now. Hmpf.

Actually, the caps are from the trailer on the Clerk II DVD, so the webmistress of the site doesn't have the highlight reel or the movie. I asked her if she could cap Chris from it for us, but she said she only rented the DVD and doesn't have it anymore. Bummer. I'll add her Pell James and Jaime King websites to our co-starts links.

Yeah. I think by now we have more links in the co-stars section than links to other Chris websites. Because there are none. Well, at least not anything worth linking to, really.

Well, at least the Weinstein Co. now has info on the movie up on their official website. Granted, nothing great, but it's a start:
Isn't the red-haired dude behind Jay and Dan one of the Mos Alba guys, Sean? I remember him from some of your photos.

That's cool that they updated..kinda Cool picture too!
Yea, the guy behind the Fanboys with the dyed red hair is from our SW group. He also got to be one of the Stormtroopers in the dream sequence as well as a Trekkie. He had to wear this awesome Beatles wig in the Trekkies scene because they didn't want his red hair to stick out since he was playing multiple characters.
I kept staring at that picture because it looked strange how certain people were seated, and then I realized they blended in a couple of pics together to make that arrangement. I can see a few of my friends in that pic that weren't seated the way they have them in that photo. What a trip.

That's just weird. Where's Eric in that photo anyway? Is he the arm with the beer next to Hutch?

TheForce.net did a phone interview with Kyle a while back in 2006. They put it in their weekly podcast, which is 90 minutes long, so right now I'm listening to the Kyle bits in four of the podcasts, trying to extract some information from it that we might not have heard before. It's kinda hard to understand him on the phone. In the first podcast they talk mostly about how much of a SW geek he is. And, trust me, you can't be a much bigger one. Which we already knew.
Out of the three "old" SW films, Kyle likes The Empire Strikes Back best. Where was Kyle in 1999 when Episode I came out? He says he read the novel before it came out. He said he did it because for him it wasn't so much about seeing it play out visually as it was about the story. Kyle said that George Lucas is an interesting role model for a filmmaker because he funded the first movies himself and made a few really gutsy decisions.
They talk a little about one of his first movies, The Hollow and some of his short films. They talk about fan films and that it's cool that George Lucas condones it, even support it. (I wish Paramount was that cool about fan stuff.) They're talking about when Fanboys will come out. This was still when Kyle thought it was coming out in February. He again talks a lot about what the movie is about, that it's about Eric having drifted apart from his friends and the SW fandom, that it's about finding out that you don't have switch certain things in your life off to "grow up", that it's about the friendship. And that it's not only a movie for SW fans, even though they talk about it a lot. I wish I could understand it well enough to transcribe it literally. Maybe I'll try at a later point with headphones.
Ah, finally they're talking about the cast. Kyle says Sam was great. "His best friend is being played by Chris Marquette." Yep. Can't understand what he says next, though. Kyle says again he's the emotional core to the group. I'll transcribe you the missing stuff later. Dan plays the "loud, wild and crazy friend". And he's kinda like this movie's Chewbacca. Nice analogy. LOL! Jay is the classic über-nerd, who owns a comic store and chats with chicks in SW chatrooms. Kristen's character is just as much of geek as these guys, but she can turn it off. And they have some phenomenal cameos. (I dare say!)
Kyle says once they made clear to George Lucas's guys that this movie was actually like a love letter to George Lucas and SW, they were cool and opened the fences and didn't place any obstacles in their way.
One of the best fanboy moments for Kyle was filming on the Skywalker Ranch. And he said some of the sets were really impressive. Kyle doesn't know if George Lucas read the script, but he thinks that he may have and was cool with it.
And that's all that's worthwhile telling you, I think.

In the Star Wars geeks are everywhere department, you guys will appreciate this:
At a Krispy Kream in Marietta, GA today, there was a fundraiser for the Special Olympics. Cops were out with buckets, collecting money at trafic stops. One of the cops, a very tall guy, was dressed in a perfect Stormtrooper uniform. But he had his department's patch on the armpiece and a yellow police safety vest over it. It was totally cool!
I wish I'd had my camera.

Over at IMDb, they're heatedly discussing whether Fanboys is gonna be PG-13 or R. Somehow I always assumed it was gonna be R, but now that what Deb said at IMDb makes sense, it's probably gonna be PG-13. And I don't like that in the least.
