Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

Oh God, Accepted is so awful.  I really wanted to love it because it's a very cool cast, but it's sooooo bad.  I'll be very interested to hear what you think of it when you watch it.

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

Ok.  Well.  I watched it.  Honestly, I can't say it was awful but then I have pretty weird taste in movies.  It was a doofy comedy that made no sense but made me laugh.  Exactly what I need right now.

Well, I'm glad.  To me it just didn't really even try.  All the jokes fell flat and just laid there.  It had no life and no energy.

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

I kind of liked Accepted.  Nothing special but I watched it on cable and I didn't shut it off.  Which I do when I don't like a movie.

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

I like so many people in the movie that I stuck with it hoping it'd get better.  To me it never did.  I was especially disappointed in how unfunny Lewis Black was.  I'm just glad everyone moved on and done much better stuff.  Especially Jonah Hill.  He was really struggling in this one and he's been golden in most everything since.  Luckily, as far as Justin Long goes, he was redeemed in my eyes when I saw him really soon after in a sweet little indie called Dreamland in which he got to be kind of mysterious and sexy... http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0417614/

The reason I only bought seasons 1, 4 and 6 is because they were just 15 EUR, the others were more expensive. I'll get them too eventually. They'll make great birthday/x-mas presents if someone asks me what I wish for. smile I was tempted to buy a few other DVDs, including Blindness, but then I figured they were all movies I enjoyed in the theater but would probably not watch again more than once if I had the DVD on my shelf.

I watched Accepted over a year ago on HBO and liked it a little. My friend Stephanie loves the movie. She told me she watches it a lot.

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

It's a company where you pay a monthly fee and you can rent as many DVDs a month through the mail as you want, depending on what level you sign on for.   I pay $8.99 a month for one at a time unlimited.  As quickly as I can watch them and send them back, I get the next DVD in my que.  It's pretty awesome and they have most everything.

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

I really enjoy it and it's so convenient.  I had a membership years ago, but I had to let it go.  Rick got me this new membership as a gift so I could rent Choose Connor when it came out.  Yay, Rick!

He's an awesomely nice guy.  You know what else?  When we met him to go to the Bones sound editing session, he had made a CD for me of the songs from the movie Streets Of Fire.  He's just cool like that.  smile

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

We have something like Netflix in Germany, it's called LOVEFiLM.de. At first it was a service offered by amazon.de, but now it seems to be a company separate from amazon. I've never tried it but a friend of mine uses it. For me personally, I think it's just too expensive since I don't usually rent movies. I'd probably pay for it and only use it once every six months. I could just as well buy my DVDs for that kind of money, but I agree that it's a cool service for people who watch a lot of movies and don't wanna buy them all.

Or for people who want to see TV series, or even copy them.  I'm finally gonna have Angel Season 3 for my very own, without paying $35 for it.  wink

Finally got this in the post;

It's funny cause I pre-ordered it, hoping it would come the day after my birthday. Instead, it finally comes 5 days after its release.

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

Oh, I see the European DVD has the stupid art too.  Damn.  Why do I have to hate almost every cover of every Chris-related DVD???

At least the movie's great.  Let us know what you think when you watch it, Simon.

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

Yeah, it looks like they changed the covers of the UK DVD now. All the websites now only list the one with the tennis racquet. Which is so weird, because he never held a racquet in the movie, did he? Maybe I'll scan the cover and exchange the stupid front cover with the nicer one when I get my DVD. They really have a way of screwing with Chris on DVD covers and movie posters, don't they?
