I noticed some differences between the directors, but as I said, there is no really "better" or "worse" for me.
I can tell you one thing, I definitely did not miss the blue tinted Forks from Twilight! Even the rainy/cloudy scenes were so much better in New Moon.

I agree with the directors comment. I'm think I like Hardwick better personally. Do we know who the director is for the other two>? I agree with the rainy/cloudy scenes. Those were awesome in the first one. I thought the warewolves and vampirese in New Moon were pretty cool. It had too much teen angst for me in this one though.

David Slade directed Eclipse and Breaking Dawn is not officially confirmed yet. Summit has stated it would be happy to bring the book to the big screen, but it's not ... uhm ... how do you say that in English? It's still not sure if they're really going to shoot it.
I heard Twilight was filmed through a blue lense and with New Moon they just something yellow/golden. Or how to you call that (again)? I hate when I suck at English. LOL I'm still looking forward to Sunday. I wish I could have a Double Feature every day! LOL Oh well, with the DVD I can have that!
Plus I heard that two other movies with Kristen Stewart are shown in Germany right now, but unfortunately not at my theatre! So I'm going to ask them on Sunday if there's a chance that they might still come ... I really want to see them but I am NOT paying money to see some crappy dubbing, you know?

I like Catherine Hardwicke better as well. She's one of my favorite directors.

I don't know how they are going to do that movie, because one of two things is going to happen. They are either going to have to change A LOT of stuff, or they are going to have to make it a rated R film which could prevent a lot of their core audience from being able to see it. I don't know, but it will be interesting to see what happens.
Also, I found this on another site and thought it was a pretty funny recap of the book. Obviously there are spoilers for those who have not read the book, and a warning that there is some offensive language used:

Breaking Dawn is my favorite in the series and I hope it's made into a R rated film. I at least hope there's a dvd version that's R rated.

I personally think hell would freeze over before they make Breaking Dawn into an R-rated movie. They'd lose 80% of their target audience if they did. If it's being made into a movie, I'd bet you anything that it's gonna be a PG-13. Nothing else would make sense from a business point of view. The times are long gone where creativity drove the movie-making process. Today it's all money, plain and simple. I'm sure that they're gonna cut down all the sex to something kid-friendly. Breaking Dawn would probably be the movie that's least like any of the books.
I personally am undecided if I'd prefer seeing a PG-13 movie rather than none at all.

Yeah, I don't think they're going to make an R-rated movie either. I'm also sure there won't be any sex scene, which I think is good because it wasn't even really in the book and ... to be honest, I'm not sure if I want to see it on big screen. Not because it is what it is, but as I said, it wasn't really in the book either and I just think it should stay that way.
My bigger question is, are they going to make one or two movies out of it. I kind of hope for two movies since the book is so big and they'd have to cut a lot for one movie but then again there are rumors that the main actors only signed on for one movie and I really don't want to watch a fifth movie with other actors.
Meanwhile I had my second Double Feature experience yesterday and now I am (thinking of going back later this week or next week for a single showing of New Moon) waiting for (the DVD and) Eclipse to come to big screen. Can we just skip the next six months or so? LOL

Exactly. I didn't read the books until this time last year, but I remember my friend telling me about how "hot" the sex scenes were in Breaking Dawn. Really? When I got to those parts I remember thinking, "ummm, did we read the same book?" lol Don't get me wrong though, I actually like that Meyer chose to be less detailed and leave more to the imagination. I know they can make it a good movie without showing any sex scenes, but that's not really the part that concerns me. I'm more curious about how they are going to handle the parts of the book where Bella is pregnant and the baby is tearing her up from the inside out. *shudder*
Anyway, I'm sure they will end up making the movie because, a) it is stupid to start a movie franchise with no intention of finishing it, and b) because they will make a ton of cash, and ultimately that is the number one concern of the studios.
Personally, Eclipse was my favorite of the four books, and I am looking forward to seeing it on the big screen this summer.

Yeah, that's what I think, too. I just hope they won't have to find new actors if they're going to make a fifth movie ... that would SUCK big time. But well, nothing is decided yet.
And I can't wait for Eclipse! And I could watch New Moon every day, which is kind of crazy since I 'hated' the book when I was reading it because I suffered so much with Bella when Edward left her. LOL But I LOVE the movie. Well, maybe this is because since I lost my job I lost a big part of my private life and I guess something needs to fill that whole. If I only had enough money to go to the theatre again ...

Okay, so I finally went to see the movie tonight. New Moon, I mean. Can't say I'm very impressed. I don't know if I just wasn't in the mood or if it's because the second book is my least favorite. It just didn't grip me or draw me into the story. I never even cried, which is very unusual because this was the kind of movie where normally I would have cried at least five times. It probably also had to do with me being somehow "anti" where the movie is concerned. Too much hype, too much dislike on my part of the Pattinson guy, too many people going crazy over things I can't grasp... Felt like I already had my mind set on not liking this movie, even though I thought I had an open mind. Or maybe I'm just over-interpreting.
I'm not gonna write up a long review because I just don't feel like I have much to say about New Moon. It wasn't all bad, of course. I didn't hate the movie or anything. But I thought I'd like it more. Let's see how I feel about it when I eventually get the DVD.
Thankfully, though, the theater was pretty empty, but I still didn't manage to dodge the teenie girls. I had another group of four or five of them sitting next to me one seat over. And of course they giggled and whispered at times. One of them even texted twice during the movie, which was kind of annoying because a cell phone screen can be really bright in a dark theater. *sigh* I'm getting too old for this.
Since I really gotta go to bed, I'm gonna read up on all your thoughts later (which I avoided until now). Maybe I'll have more to comment on tomorrow.

New Moon is my least favorite in the series as well. I agree with a lot of what you said, TJ, especially about annoying people in movie theaters.

Ok went and saw it the other night and I might be not liked very much for saying this but I just couldnt get into it.
Don't worry, Kate, I felt the same way. I definitely didn't like New Moon as much as I liked Twilight. And I still don't know if it's the script, the director, the cinematography, the acting or a combination of some or all of them. In retrospect, I think what also bothered me was that Kristen didn't portray Bella and her feelings the way I had imagined them.
What was kind of funny, in the scene where we first see Jacob's abs (when he takes his shirt off to wipe Bella's blood away) two or three people emitted a loud "ooohhh" and the whole theater laughed.
I myself can't decide for any team. Even though I really don't like Robert Pattinson (and I'll gladly repeat that in every post), I can still sympathize with Edward and some of his actions. Same goes for Jacob's actions, but they also both didn't do everything right. Emotions can make things complicated and messy, and that's just life. None of them is perfect. In the books I always leaned more towards Edward, but in the movie I actually rooted a little more for Jacob.
What also struck me in New Moon is that even though they stayed close to the book, a lot from the book was missing. Of course that's the nature of compressing an extensive novel into a 90-minute film, but somehow it bothered me more in New Moon than it did in Twilight.
Next time I'm gonna see New Moon is gonna be on DVD, I didn't like it enough to spend another 6.50 EUR on a theater ticket. That said, I'm curious what they do with Eclipse, and possibly also Breaking Dawn.

Same here. I actually remember really hating Jacob in the books. I think it was because I was an Edward fan and anything that tried to mess with the Edward/Bella relationship just annoyed me. However, after seeing the movie, I found Jacob to be a lot more likeable. He just seemed so much more warm and comfortable (which as we know is literally true) than Edward. I guess it didn't seem as noticeable to me in the books because I was just going by the picture in my head as opposed to seeing actual people. When I was watching the movie, I found myself actually annoyed by Edward popping up on screen. Who knew?!
And no, I don't just feel that way because of Taylor Lautner and his abs of steel. I swear!!

I actually really liked New Moon. Not really sure why Bella was stupid enough to get on a motorcycle with a random guy, though. Walking toward the guys wasn't bad enough?
By the way, anyone else notice the Christ the Redeemer statue in the background of the shot of Edward in Brazil?

Yep. I did. I was actually surprised they showed that scene in the movie. That was something I didn't expect to see. Not because of the statue, I just didn't expect Edward to return on screen between the breakup and Italy other than in Bella's visions. But that's just me.

Watched it yesterday for the third (Well, actually the fourth time, but I'm not gonna talk about the one time I saw it outside of the cinema) time. The people at the cinema must think I'm crazy by now. LOL
And did I tell you already how much I LOVE the New Moon score? I ADORE it. A friend recently sent me both the soundtrack and the score and I just can't stop listening to it. I mean, I love the Twilight score too, but the New Moon score is just awesome. At least I think so.
