I woke up having a hankering to see this movie. I don't know what that says of me as a person to want to watch a scary movie at the start of the day! I should probably buy it, if that's going to be the case!

Watched Infestation last night and if im honest, it was not what I was thinking it would be. I actually really enjoyed it. I don't know if it was the way it was cut, but the trailer made it seem to me as a cheap and not terribly good movie, but when you watch it, its quite the opposite.

You know what Simon? I think we all had that same fear based on the trailer. But hey, that Japanese trailer was GREAT! And I was soooooo surprised by how much fun the movies is. And how great Chris is in it. I've actually been wanting to watch it again too. Especially after that dude on IMDb started insisting there's an alternate timeline in the movie, which is total BS.
Lindsey, I don't think it's weird to want to watch Infestation first thing in the morning. But if you wanted to watch Freddy Vs Jason, well, that'd be different. LOL!

There was very few bad CGI shots in the film and they were all fatured in the trailer, that's why i was expecting a very cheap looking film.

You know, I also thought the effects were going to be a lot more trashy B-movie, but they actually managed to hold up even on the big screen. Not the best horror comedy out there, but it's definitely an enjoyable, fun, little film. I wouldn't mind watching it again some time either.

It's a fun movie to watch. I wouldn't mind owning it either, Deb, did you find it holds up the more you watch it?
I think Kyle in the dvd commentary said he wants to make a sequal someday. I wonder if that's in the works.

I love the movie. So far, I haven't gotten even slightly sick of it. I watched it twice on TV and then devoured the DVD. I just find the characters really entertaining and our boy adorable. What's not to like?
I wouldn't count on a sequel. It took forever to get the first one off the ground and while we kow that Chris and Kyle both signed 3-picture deals with Icon, that doesn't mean much. It's just incredibly rare to see a small film like this that was never even given a chance at the box office get a sequel.
I'd love it, but I just don't see how they could ever get the financing.

I've seen Ray Wise guest star on so many things this year: Dollhouse, Psych, Castle and I loved Reaper - the short lived show on CW. I think its so great that he guest spots on these programs, it shows how much he loves acting and that no job is too small for him. I loved the chemistry he had with chris in this movie!
By the way, love the pic, definately drool worthy!

Couldn't agree more about Ray. Been a big fan of his for like 20 years.

Hello there!
I just joined the forum but I lurk on here sometimes. I just finished watching Joan of Arcadia on the internet a couple of months ago and grew fond of Chris Marquette's acting. He's pretty amazing. I guess you could say I turned into a fan of his.
Anyway, I'm from the Philippines. I was in the movie theater today and was checking out posters before the movie I was gonna watch started. I found a movie poster of "Infestation". I read that Chris Marquette's Infestation was straight to DVD beforehand (unless I was wrong though?), so I was pretty doubtful it was the same movie. But then, I saw his name on the poster It made me confused and thought was just seeing things. I walked forward and there was this display stand for the movie with pictures of screen caps surrounding it and a TV screen in the middle that showed the trailer. I just thought I'd share that little story. I think it's kind strange they're showing it in a movie theater here haha
Oh here's a link for the cinema's website that indicates "Infestation" is in cinema 10:

Hi there, welcome to the forum. Glad to have you! Infestation indeed went straight to DVD in most countries, including the US and the UK. In the US it first aired on SyFy (previously called SciFi - a cable TV station) before it came to DVD. The version shown on SyFy was edited, though, because the movie is rated R and the TV version had to be PG-13.
If you do get the chance to see it on the big screen, I hope you go. It's such a fun movie (if you're into that kind of thing). I was lucky enough to see the movie in the theater at the German Fantasy Film Fest last year. It was wonderful.

It has played in lots of theaters OUTSIDE the US. If I remember correctly, didn't Icon secure overseas distribution rights pretty quickly, but they just never made a domestic theatrical deal?
Welcome to the MB, Trolley. Glad you delurked. I believe you're our first member from the Philippines. Chris is always amazed to learn about fans from around the globe....

Hey cool. I think I will check it out. When I saw the trailer, it kinda reminded me of the movie "Eight Legged Freaks". I was really young when I saw that one but I remember it to be a fun movie haha
Yah, I am into that kind of thing. My cousin isn't. Her friend saw it and thought it was "corny" and hearing what the movie was about, my cousin thought so too. I love fun movies like that though

First off, the American trailer doesn't come close to doing it justice. The Japanese trailer is way funnier. I'm not normally into these kinds of movie either. Infestation is kinda similar to Eight Legged Freaks, but it's a very well-done flick. Surprisingly so, actually. And Chris is absolutely wonderful in it. He's funny and heroic and we even get a little romance and heart. I just love it. I've seen it probably 6 times by now and I'm not sick of it yet. Let us know what you think when you see it.

Welcome to the boards, thetrolley. Chris has a lot of great movies. You should check all of them out especially Alpha Dog and Fanboys.

So I watched "Infestation"...
Taking it for what it is, a creature feature sci-fi comedy, I liked it. But I can see why it wasn't terribly successful; without a bigger budget and bigger names in a film of that genre, there just isn't a large enough audience for that kind of film. It was totally something I might have come upon and watched on the SyFy channel (what the heck is up with that name by the way? Why is it not Sci Fi anymore??) and thought, "Hmm, that was decent," and then forgotten about. That's not to say Chris wasn't great -- I think it was the comedy, which he carried out so well, that saved the movie from being completely cliche/predictable. I mean, the plot itself -- aliens attack, few humans survive, they find the nest or whatever and destroy it only to leave you with a cliff-hanger ending -- they're still out there and they're coming for you! -- this story has been done, but the comedy made it a bit more original. It was definitely a different role for him -- all the action and whatnot -- so that was cool, seeing something different, and really, who would ever pass up a role where you get to be the hero and fight giant bugs? I wouldn't! But this unfortunately wasn't going to be his breakthrough into the mainstream...I enjoyed it though Hope that didn't come off as too negative. I did like it. It was a pleasant distraction from the fact that the basement, where my bedroom is located, has started to flood -- not my bedroom *yet,* thank God. Any of you all who believe in God, please pray for this wretched rain on the East Coast to stop!!

I agree with your take on Infestation. Taking it as it is, just a fun sci-fi, Saturday night horror flick is perfect for its genre. I really agree too with the comedy aspect. Chris did a great job and there were some great ad libs by him as well in the film. I still really enjoyed it. I hope to see it again sometime but there is just a long list of movies for me to watch!
Deb, that action shot of Chris with the shot gun makes me drool every time! What a great pic!

Oh yeah, I'm still using that as a wallpaper. I think I must be Infestation's biggest fan. I've seen it 7 times now. Can't get enough of Cooper. Yeah, Chris is funny in it, but he's also got a couple of really great serious moments. And nice chemistry with his co-stars.
