Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

This is my e-mail to Universal:

Hello there,

I'm writing to you about the DVD for Alpha Dog. I just recently heard that it's going to be released in May, which is good. What's not so good is the extras. Just these two tiny specials that don't sound exciting at all? Excuse me, that's a joke, right?

I live in Germany, and while the movie is going to be released here this month, I have been looking forward to it ever since it was announced and I've been anticipating the release for almost two years now. The DVD likewise, especially when I heard from several sources that there were going to be lots of cool extras on it, like deleted scenes and the documentary by Heather Wahlquist. The more disappointed I was when I heard that none of that seems to actually be on the DVD.

I am honestly considering not buying the DVD now. I will still watch the movie in the theater at least once, but the DVD doesn't sound like something I want to spend more money on if it only has those meager extras that are announced. And I can't imagine that I'm the only one who feels that way.

If you would consider releasing a special edition DVD that has all the extras the fans are craving, I think you'd be on the right track. Isn't that what makes DVDs so popular in the first place, that's there's all these cool extras on them?

I would like to ask you to reconsider and at least release a special edition DVD with more extras, I am convinced there will be a market for it. I would certainly buy it in a heartbeat, as opposed to the version with that poor excuse for an extras package. Thank you.

-TeeJay

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

Then write them two sentences that say how much you think the extras on the DVD suck. That's still better than nothing. Or write a German text and let me translate it. And if you keep saying you can't do things, chances are you won't be able to. I couldn't do shit with PHP before we started this website. Now we've got a functioning PHP-based message board, news blog and image gallery. You didn't think you could ever assemble a piece of furniture before you came to visit me year before last, did you? Do you still think the same way? The trick is to ask the right people for help and then just try.

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

I may try when I've seen the movie in German, but I guess it's too late by then. But I don't feel comfortable writing to those guys about something I don't even get half of. (Well, not half, but still a part.)

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

Geez, you don't need to know the movie to ask for more specials on the DVD. It's not like they want a synopsis of the content of the movie...

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

Well, that's just the way I fell about that. I can't change that. But maybe you can write something for me if this is so important. Besides, I don't think that they're going to take "two sentences" too serious.

Anne, I thought you were as desperate to see the scene on the hill between Keith and Elvis as I am.  This is the only chance we have of making that happen.  Is that not important enough?

You could very easily copy the parts of the three examples of letters above and put together one of your own.  And please don't say you don't understand enough English to even do that.  You certainly do.

Did you write a Save Our Show letter when they were going to cancel Joan?  TeeJay and I could help you write something.  Maybe tomorrow night.  We have to hit them while there's still time for them to change their minds.

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

Well, maybe my English is good enough to write something. But it's still pretty rough. (You certainly notice this in some of my posts. Hell, I couldn't even write my letter(s) to Chris without Tina's help! She needs to polish up everything. I mean, I'm grateful she does, but it's kinda depressing to have to ask her for help everytime. roll

Your English better than a lot of Americans I know.  Trust me.  We don't mind giving what you write a polish.  Let's talk about it again on Sunday.

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

Pffffff! What kind of joke is this? I just got an e-mail from Universal:

Dear Tina,

Thank you for contacting Universal Studios Home Entertainment U.S.  Please direct your inquiry to the Universal Studios  Consumer Relations department for Germany at http://www.universal-pictures.de.

Sincerely,

Universal Studios Home Entertainment

Yeah, like they're gonna be able to help!!! What a joke, man! But at least it means someone read my e-mail.

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

You should probably forward it to them anyway, in case the American branch ignored what you wrote altogether.  Couldn't hurt.

I'll have to translate it first. Will do.

EDIT: Just sent a translated and slightly modified German version. Will let you know if they answer.

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

Thanks! I actually already considered that but then didn't look into it. Might be a good idea, but then we'd have to go and contact as many people as we can and spread the word, otherwise it's not gonna be much use. I guess we could start writing to fansites webmasters of the AD cast. There should be plenty.

No it's a better copy, the other one was really dark and looked like it was shot by someone with a camcorder.

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

Check this out:
http://www.cinestar.de/de/kinos-lokal/d … ilmid=6657

Yes, it's in German, but what I mean is that where they list the actors in Cast & Crew, Justin Timberlake and Bruce Willis are not mentioned, but Chris is. smile Also some trivia: The movie has a 16-and-over rating in Germany. Guess the Germans are less strict.

Illinois, I watched the other one you linked and it played great on my PC.  How weird is that?

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

YAYYY! I just called the Cologne theater and they said that they will definitely show AD from Thusday on. How cool is that??? The girl didn't know at what time yet, but it if's any time after 6 PM, I'm gonna be there right on Thursday after work. If it's earlier, I'm gonna watch it on Saturday. Awesome! The waiting is almost over!
