I have been told that there will be a platinum version of Alpha Dog. I have always asked for the real story, audition scenes, deleted scenes, Heather's documentary (which is fab) to be included. So far, my requests have not been granted, due to time constraints and "legal" issues. I have so much stuff, it's unbelievable. My life is about lawsuits. I cannot really comment any further. Let's just say more will be revealed.

Nicko

Pretty good news... eventually. In the mean time, we're stuck with bare bones.

And I asked him about Cacciato publicly because he seems to be on the board RIGHT NOW.

Okay, cool. A platinum version would be great. Hope it doesn't take too long to be released. I will defintely wait for that one and not buy the cheap-ass version.

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

Got another censored dialogue:

Jake: Hello? Hello?
Johnny: Yo, it's me. The Midget.
Jake: You got some set o' nerves, calling me here.
Johnny: What's the matter, you don't answer a friggin' page?
Jake: We got nothin' to talk about.
Johnny: Oh, I think we do. I know you. We straighten out all this business, once and for all.
Jake: There's nothing to straighten out, the dumbbrain right now is you.
Johnny: I don't know what you're talking about.
Jake: Johnny, I know. I know. And you're toast.
Johnny: Don't threaten me.
Jake: Strike threat, it's a promise. No matter where you go, no matter what you do, I'm gonna seek you out. I'm gonna seek you out and then I'm gonna do something very bad to you. And then I'm gonna do something even worse and then I'm gonna top even that! You better pray, Johnny, you better darn pray that the cops find you before I do. Get on your little hairy knees and PRAY!! Hello? Hello?!

So tonight I took my Dorquette Shirt and red hoodie out to the cinema. Just got back home. Woohoo, I made my Big Screen Debut.
Tina, read my review in the German thread, I am too tired to post it in English too and I am pretty sure Deb doesn't want to read how much the German voices sucked. roll

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

Didn't I tell you already everything after I watched the English version? There's actually not much to add. Oh, and I realized that I did understand very well. Subtitles would have been enough, actually. I mean, okay, I surely didn't understand everything, but at least I could follow the story well, way better than I expected. I guess my Enlighs gets really better by the time. smile

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

Well, in a nutshell Anne said that the dubbing sucked, but that she kinda expected that. Chris's voice wasn't too high, it fit his character, but it just wasn't his. And Anton had the same dubbing voice as Luke Girardi, it sounded way too young. She liked the movie a lot, but she didn't like the ending with Sharon Stone's fat suit--not very sophisticated work. She thought Justin did a good job as actor, as well as Emile and Anton. Then there's some stuff about how they translated certain things, like the tube steak boogie or dickwad or sack of monkey shit. Really ridiculous. The poor Germans who have to watch this in German. hmm They translated dickwad as "squirter" (I guess what they mean is "ejaculator"). So weird. That's not even a German insult name! (Or is it?)

Deb, I posted the new PG dialogue on IMDb first, actually. No need to take it there. smile

Anne, I'm glad you still liked the German version of the movie and I'm glad you went. Wasn't it great to see Chris's face plastered all over the screen, real huge? It was certainly the best about the whole cinema experience for me.

Yeah, that was the good thing about it and the fact that I wouldn't have needed to watch the German version. I was very surprised how good I could understand the English version when I watched it. I didn't thank that it would go so well with that movie. I can see it with Just Friends, you don't really have to think about most of the dialogues there and I didn't even see the German version, but I never expected that with Alpha Dog. So thanks Nick for making the movie and thanks Chris for being a part of it. Even with the wig. LOL

It sounds to me like they're translating everything literally --- and not quite getting it right --- rather than trying to find an equivalent in German vernacular.  Now I get why this is so annoying to you guys.

I mean dickwad, if we want to grossly over-descriptive here is the ejaculate material itself; whereas "squirter" would refer to the ejaculator.  So it doesn't quite work and it just sounds ridiculous.

What did they do to tube steak boogie, pray tell?  That's a ZZ Top song, BTW.  Just a little pointless trivia for you.

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

Anne said that she couldn't remember 100%, but that it was something like "put the cucumber between the teeth", which is a nice analogy (and works), but it's not quite the same.

Not all German dubbings are as bad as this, usually they're actually very good. You know, in the Monty Python movies some German translations are almost funnier than the English original. In Holy Grail they put in a "God Shave The Queen" (in English like that), whereas in English John Cleese says something like "Your mother was a hamster and your father smelled of elderberries." I thought that was really funny. It's just hard when it's special names, especially insults or swear words and it has to match the lip movement too. But they could have tried a little harder!

And what should I write there? "Hey Nick, thanks for making that movie, I just watched the German version, dubbing sucked but I noticed that I could understand the English version almost perfect." Great, and then he's going to wonder how I could see the English version ... uhmmmmm ... no, sorry.

You could just say you saw both the OV and the dubbed versions in different theatres, just for comparisons sake.  That's plenty good enough.  He won't know the difference.  Or don't.  Whatever.

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

OK, so it's Tube SNAKE Boogie in the ZZ Top song.  Works either way.  Check out the lyrics.  It's not terribly coy:

I got a girl she lives cross town,
Shes the one that really gets down.
When she boogie,
She do the tube snake boogie.
Well now boogie little baby,
Boogie woogie all night long.

I got a girl she lives on the block,
She kinda funky with her pink and black socks.
She likes to boogie,
She do the tube snake boogie.
Well now boogie woogie baby,
Boogie woogie all night long.

I got a girl, she lives on the hill.
She wont do it but her sister will,
When she boogie,
She do the tube snake boogie.
Well now boogie little baby,
Boogie woogie all night long.
Blow your top blow your top blow your top.

Pretty clear what they're talking about.  Kind of a cool little song.  It was a hit single.

Okay. Will do that later. I'm in class right now and supposed to search for jobs. Haha. Now look where I ended up the first day we're allowed to go online! big_smile
Maybe it's just the fact that I'll somehow talk to the director in person which makes me nervous as always. I mean, I know it's only a public message board, but it's he himself who posts and reads there, and I never did something like this before.

D'oh! Sorry, you were talking about Nick as movie director. I thought you were talking about the director of your employment course thing. I think you need to lose some of that star-struck-ness of yours. smile Nick is just a regular dude too. If you created something that was shown to the public, wouldn't you embrace any positive comment on it too? Especially when people love the stuff you've created. Come on, go and post over there. With the troll invastion that's thankfully come to an end now (we hope), you don't know what Nick had to go through. He will absolutely love any positive comment that anyone makes.

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

star-struck-ness? Not only that I don't really know what you mean by that. I can tell you what you need to do: Reading the posts more carefully! tongue
This day was sooo boring. We were in the computer room and you're not going to believe this but there are actually people in that class who have never worked with computers in their whole live and the teacher was some old guy with a voice that makes you so sleepy ... ugh! I ended up surfing the net for half of the day because I don't need to learn how to write with 10 fingers on the keyboard. I work with computers since I was, like, four years old. I teached myself.

Anyways, back to topic. I am going to post something, but I'll keep it rather short, I can't post a whole novel about the movie with my [crappy] English. And I am sure noone on the imdb boards wants to read an endless rant about how much the dubbing sucked.

EDIT: I just went there to post but ... no way I am posting there. No. Forget it. Maybe one of you two can post what I said there. But I'm not going to do that. No way. Just forget it.

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

WHY?  What's so scary about about talking to a bunch of dumbasses on a message board?  If you don't want to, fine.  But I don't see why anybody else should have to do it for you.  I guess it's enough that the five people who post here know what you think.

Re: Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT)

What I meant was that you need to learn that people like Nick C. aren't Gods. There is absolutely no need to be so reluctant to voice your opinion over at IMDb, especially if it's something positive. I can't force you post there, of course, but I have to admit that I don't get it. Your English is just FINE. Watch how Abbie (GimmeKitty) went off after seeing me post how the Europeans are so metropolitan and how the Americans should at least learn a second language. You'll impress anyone over there with your English. I mean, some of the Americans can't spell as well as you can.

Everyone on that message board is just glad that the troll is gone and hasn't come back yet. They will rejoice at anyone saying something positive and constructive about the movie. (Just make sure not to mention Justin's hat or the price of the DVD. wink)
