Yeah, well, I'm used to not seeing any of his stuff as early as the general (US) population, so I don't even get jealous about it anymore. I'm not gonna see this movie until it's out on DVD, and that might take a while. A looooong while. So back into patience mode. <drums fingers>
I hope some of the guys up near NY can catch one of the viewings, though. And then come here and talk about it. I don't think I would mind spoilers very much either for this one. I couldn't bear not hearing/talking about it for a year or longer. Or however long it takes for the DVD to come out.

I've got one extra room. Whoever emigrates first can have it. The other one is SOL.

Ok, I don't really get what SOL means, but I suppose it includes dog-pee?
Well, in that case, I'll wait until the carpet is replaced. LOL Otherwise, I'd move in in no time.

I believe SOL stands for "shit out of luck". (And, Deb, I wasn't making fun. I know all about Lacey's problem--and it's not really something I should be making jokes about.)

I think the film is really moving. I think it will take a lot of Durst fans off guard, because it sure ain't rock n roll. It's more like Squid and the Whale in tone and tempo. It's an intelligent film. It's an emotional film that is tense at times, tender at other times. Tender... Durst? Yes, tender. So I imagine some Durst fans will be very surprised indeed. But I really hope the film is recognized for the small gem that it is.

This is kinda cool:
Gore Will Open Tribeca
Having already landed Spider-Man 3 for the movie's U.S. premiere on April 30, the Tribeca Film Festival announced Thursday that it will not open the festival on April 25 with any high-profile feature film -- as most major film festivals do -- but instead with seven short films about global warming hosted by Al Gore.

Have you guys seen what the Tribeca website put up?
Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst makes his feature directorial debut with this potent coming-of-age drama about Charlie Banks: a pensive, honorable college student forced to come to terms with his past when he gets an unexpected visit from a hometown bully-who may or may not know that Charlie once ratted him out to the police. A tense, compelling narrative on the surface, the film adds heft with its subtle ruminations on identity, courage and fate. As it opens in New York in the 70's, we see Charlie and best friend Danny as city youngsters watching in awe as Mick, ""the baddest kid in the Village,"" struts into the schoolyard smoking a cigarette. A few years later, Charlie (Jesse Eisenberg) witnesses Mick's (Jason Ritter) savage beating of two teens. When Mick is charged with attempt- ed murder, Charlie initially agrees to testify, but later recants. The film then fast-forwards to 1981, with Charlie and Danny (Chris Marquette) rooming together at a private college when Mick shows up out of the blue, insinuating himself into Charlie's life and even bedding the object of Charlie's affec tions (Eva Amurri). As Charlie-and the viewer-nervously look for signs as to whether Mick knows his secret, Mick goes about trying to reinvent himself: wearing preppie clothes, auditing classes and reading The Great Gatsby, all the while wondering how different life might have been. But as the explosive denouement confirms, Mick cannot outrun himself or fate; no matter how hard he tries, Mick-like Gatsby-is ""borne back ceaselessly into the past.""

Nope, hadn't seen that. Sounds VERY cool. Can't wait to see it. I sure do wish we could get a look at Chris in costume. Remember what he said about the tight white pants?
It's gonna take a lot of serious thesping from Jason Ritter to make me buy him as a badass though.
