Cool photo, Kate.

LOL Mel! Maybe this is true, it's just that they are not really "rockers". They're just guys with guitars who write their own songs and perform them in bars.

Re: "... like without too much singing." ::: Our Music Thread

Ok I know I keep posting about bands that people will likely not know because they are Australian. But it was Grinspoon last night! A St. Patty's Day celebration of rocking out. SO much fun and SOOOO good. Although I was a little disappointed that they didnt play Just Ace, which is one of my favourite songs. It was an older song of theirs though that didnt get quite the recognition as the others. Weird bit about it though was the bass player started playing the chords to it and the other members looked at him, shook their heads and then they played another song. VERY strange. But oh well. Excellent show and I am now exhausted!

Re: "... like without too much singing." ::: Our Music Thread

Oh and I bumped into a girl in the toilets and the Grinspoon concert and we both did that extended awkward look at each other and then pointed at each other and said KissChasy! Haha I was standing next to her for the line for KissChasy and then saw her at the Grinners concert. Small world like that.

I love rock concerts too. There is nothing quite like allowing yourself to just yell and scream and jump around and feeling the bass pump through you while next to you the person is bouncing around doing the same thing. So so SO much fun!

JAM!  I have never heard anything like Sleigh Bells before.  This is the third song in a row I've listened to.  It's weird as shit, but I kinda like it.  Be careful with the volume.  You have been warned.

My boyfriend is playing a gig on Monday night in Gwinnett and hes playing at the Arena Tavern. I know that you live in Atlanta, Deb so it would be great if you could be there. It would mean alot to him and both my boyfriend and I could meet you. The gig starts at 9 and ends at 12. Hes not sure when hes going to perform. I hope to see you there, Deb.  smile

Re: "... like without too much singing." ::: Our Music Thread

I'd love to, but Gwinnett is about 35 miles from where I live so I wouldn't get home till after 1 AM and I have to work the next day.  I'm way too old to stay out that late on a work night.  But if he ever plays there on a weekend, I'd totally go.  Please do keep me posted on any future gigs that might be close enough for me to get to.  I think it'd be great to come see you guys.

Re: "... like without too much singing." ::: Our Music Thread

Aw. sad
Its open mic there every Monday night. They always put the performances on youtube and transfer the audio to a cd for each performer. The videos of Warrin haven't been posted yet and hes performed twice at the Gwinnett Arena Tavern. He didn't perform until like one when I saw him perform and he only had the chance to perform 4 songs. He did 3 covers and 1 original. I met this girl Sky that he met in Stn Mtn park there and some of her friends. Shes nice but not too good of a musician. Here are links to 2 of her performances so you all can see for yourselves.

I can't get enough of this song.  It stirs my Celtic/Appalachian blood.

Re: "... like without too much singing." ::: Our Music Thread

I saw Livingston and Sunrise Avenue for free today. Both were really good, even though I barely knew any songs. Sunrise Avenue are such great entertainers on stage! Even though there wasn't much of a crowd and only very few hardcore fans, they still managed to get the crowd involved and sing and clap along. And with both bands it was just fun to watch how they enjoyed playing on stage. Always more fun if you get the vibe that the band is having a good time too.

That reminds me, I need to check out Sunrise Avenue's latest album. I have their first one, but then I forgot to keep track when they released the next one. Guess I'll check amazon soon.
I'd really like to see them live one day.

Its tragic. Every December 8 I think of no one except John Lennon, on his birthday October 9 too. I love what John Lennon left us. He is my biggest inspiration and I hope Mark David Chapman stays in jail forever.
