Had a great day in Mannheim, but the journey back home wasn't as great at all ... loads of drunk people on train and a very rude train conductor on the one to Stuttgart ... I've never met a conductor this rude in 10 years of traveling, seriously.
And when I was waiting for the metro back to my hometown I was sitting on one of the benches, thinking about RingCon and other stuff, suddenly a drunk woman half-fell on my, that wasn't a nice experience either. She only noticed when I moved a few inches away and said sorry but I still didn't find it amusing. I want to know whose idea it was to bring on the Munich Oktoberfest and the Stuttgart Volksfest on the same weekend ...

Our company Christmas party was at Reynolds Plantation on Lake Oconee. We stayed at the Ritz-Carlton Lodge, which was incredible. Only chance I'll probably ever have in my life to stay at a Ritz.

On the day of our arrival, we had a morning meeting, then after lunch and a break, we went to a gun range and shot skeet. This is me getting my lesson first. Never fired a shotgun before.

We had a flush and flurry team shooting contest. It was a blast but I got banged up a bit when the butt of the shotgun slipped a couple of times during the 52 shots I fired.

After some rest we gathered for a Prohibition-themed "Speakeasy" costume party in which we were "arrested and booked into custody" upon arrival.

We also had a magnificent dinner with a live jazz duo. More pics to follow...

awesome Deb! I thought Hotel Del Coronado was the most beautiful hotel (and I've seen a lot of them!) but that one is daw dropping gorgeous. What a great time!

Oh, I forgot to say that my team WON the flush & Flurry contest. They tell me I was a really good shot, especially for a rookie. It was kind of hard to tell who was hitting which targets since all four members of each team was shooting at the same time.

Heh. Yeah, I'm not Ritz material either. It's amazing that I got a chance to stay at this particular one too. It's the kind of place where millionaires vacation. I'll hang onto this memory.

Hello from Austria! I've been traveling pretty much all day today. I'm spending New Year's Eve here with my parents. The hotel has free W-LAN, so I brought my netbook.
We're going to do a cruise on Lake Constance with a big New Year's Dinner at midnight. Should be fun.

It already sucks. We had a minor car accident. Noone got hurt, but another car touched our side mirror somehow and it retracted and shattered the whole driver door car glass into literally A MILLION pieces. Now we're sitting in Austria, it's New Year's Eve and we won't get a new glass until at least Tuesday. That means we have to prolong our stay and I have to cancel a lot of appointments at home.

I will be going on a roadtrip to Italy in May. I am looking forward to it, finally a change of scenery for me, and it's been 11 years since I've been to Italy. This time we're going to stay in Tuscany and I am finally going to visit Florence!

Doing somewhat of a spiritual retreat this weekend with my friend and her husband pastor to start the summer and end the school year. Have a feeling timing couldn't have been better. I really need to get away from everything for a while! Just staying with them for 3 days in Elkhart, Texas. It will be in the woods so it will be nice to escape into nature for a while.

THen I have 16 days until I go with my parents to London for my 30th birthday!
