Re: Welcome to the Whedonverse (Buffy/Angel/Etc Appreciation)

Cabin in the Woods gets good reviews.  90 % rating from fans, around 75% for critics.  EW gives it a B-.  The preview doesn't seem to do it justice.

A little interview with bradley whitford and fran kranz on cabin in the woods - doesn't go into a lot of detail but did say that it was a funnier scary movie!

Re: Welcome to the Whedonverse (Buffy/Angel/Etc Appreciation)

Watched Cabin in the Woods over the weekend.  It was super fun!  May sound weird but I've never laughed so much and had so much fun and left throughly entertained.  Highly recommend it for a fun Saturday afternoon after a long week.  Expect to be entertained not so much scared.  I'd go see it again just because it put me in such a good mood because it was so different and funny.  Felt good to watch a Joss and Drew production again.

Re: Welcome to the Whedonverse (Buffy/Angel/Etc Appreciation)

I've wanted to see it since it was announced. I don't read reviews before seeing movies I'm going to see no matter what they say.  Sometimes, after I see the movie, I'll go read what others thought.

Last night I watched the Joseph Gordon-Levitt movie, Hesher, on cable.  It's amazing.  Extremely crude, but also very real and sad. And in it's way quite beautiful.  Highly recommend it.

Re: Welcome to the Whedonverse (Buffy/Angel/Etc Appreciation)

So glad to hear Hesher is good.  Want to see it!  I almost made myself go when it was in theaters but backed out.

This movie 'Lust for Love' isn't joss whedon but basically everyone from 'Dollhouse' is in it: Fran Kranz, Dichen Lachman, Felicia Day, Enver Gjokaj, Miracle Laurie, Maurissa Tancharoen

It was one of those kickstarter movies - looks like your typical romance movie. But if it does release I'll probably see it.  Am a big dollhouse fan!

Her eis an interview with Fran and Dichen when they were promoting it for kickstarter and answering some fan questions.  Cute interview talks a little about dollhouse too.  It is three parts, here is the first part:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WCvWaKgCEz0

You can catch the other parts after the video finishes.

Cabin In Woods was kinda obvious about what would happen. I liked it a lot my favorite movie of year so far!

Re: Welcome to the Whedonverse (Buffy/Angel/Etc Appreciation)

When you see Hesher, be prepared for crude.  And it's NOT a comedy, despite how they tried to sell it.  That said, I loved it.

Also saw Beautiful Boy.  So sad, but remarkable performances from Maria Bello & Michael Sheen, both of whom I love.

And Resurrect Dead, a cool documentary about the bizarro Toynbee tiles mystery.

Re: Welcome to the Whedonverse (Buffy/Angel/Etc Appreciation)

I heard about beautiful boy.  Thanks for the movie suggestions.  I think that's why i didn't see hasher in theaters because I read the reviews saying it was a little crude and thought it would be easier to watch on dvd!

I had no idea the avengers opens this weekend!  any takers on that one?   Totally been on a joss whedon buzz since cabin. Been watching all my dollhouse dvd's.  Starting on buffy again!

We were going to see The Avengers tomorrow, but things fell through.  I might go see Cabin In The Woods by myself instead.  Thanks for the Joss interview.  I'll definitely check it out!

PS: Yes, Hesher is crude.  But it's also quite emotionally satisfying and kind of brilliant.

I Hear Avengers is awesome.  I've been invited 3 times to see it this weekend. I'm suppose to see it tuesday and although that's a late night for me i'm excited about it:) Might break up the week a bit.  So proud of Joss and seeing his name on big movie deals.  Let us know how it is!

I want to see Cabin again, I'll probably end up buying it, had so much fun watching it.  Just a fun, entertaining watch.

Just finished reading my Dollhouse comic, sad there aren't more to the series or the comic book.  If you decide to watch it, stick through it.  The first 4-5 episodes aren't great, but then it just gets awesome!

Re: Welcome to the Whedonverse (Buffy/Angel/Etc Appreciation)

Saw the Avengers and it was AWESOME!  I think I like Captain America more in this movie than I did in Captain America.  So good to see Joss' name in the credits!!! I felt so proud lol  All actors were great, and Robert Downing Jr was awesome in delivering whedon's more humorous lines.  Stay for the credits as always.  Really beautifully shot I thought.  A bit trite and vague review but don't want to give too much away!  Now off to bed for me!

Saw the avengers again today for mother's day with mom.  Holds up the second time!  The theater was packed, not an empty seat.  So proud of Joss.
