Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

It's a really good movie. I wouldn't put it in the "horror" genre (since I don't like horror movies, haha), but it's definitely dark fantasy.

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

After a loooong time I bought some new DVDs again:

IMG_2958.jpg

True Blood Season 4 (at last! Season 5 is still too expensive for me, though, especially since it sucked.)
The Mentalist Season 1 + 2 (Did I mention that I love Simon Baker?  big_smile )

At the shop they had this "Buy three for 25 €, so I bought those three DVD boxes. And as I was walking up and down in front of the movie DVDs I found that fourth DVD for just 5 bucks. I had no idea that movie existed but since I have a soft spot for Anton Yelchin (I think I am not the only one on this board  wink ) I bought it. Will probably watch it tonight or tomorrow.
Look at the PC rating ... 16, 16, 16, 0. LOL

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

I totally forgot about Like Crazy.  Thanks for reminding me.  I wanted to see it.  It sounded really sweet.  Lemme know what you think when you watch it.

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

I will probably watch it tomorrow. The DVD says "Anton Yelchin (known from Star Trek) - tzzzzz, Star Trek! We've known him long before! I should watch more of his stuff, though, I haven't seen that much yet.

I liked Like Crazy, coming of age romance but its a more serious one than romantic.   Great acting by both leads.  Lots of angst so be prepared smile

I pre-ordered Much Ado About Nothing with a gift card a friend gave me and I hope to get Grimm Season 2!

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

I like angst.  I like real.  I like romantic DRAMAS, which I feel are rare things.  Most romantic dramas have a supernatural aspect.  Think about that for a minute.  And it kind of drives me crazy that a basic, human romantic drama can't succeed.  They do exist.  But isn't it funny how they're mostly indies?  And mostly coming-of-age?

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

agreed.  I like the supernatural concept, hadn't thought of that but your completely right.  You'll like Like Crazy then, to me it was a 'real' romantic coming of age stories about too young couples that fall in love and make mistakes as a result.  Sometimes I think romance movies give people a fantastical experience.  Not often do they really show the difficult sides and how to overcome them, that's real love to me anyways.

Re: Post your recent DVD purchases

So I just finished watching it. Well. It wasn't what I excepted it to be from the description on the back of the DVD. At the beginning I constantly asked myself "Where is the plot?" because it felt more like a documentary than like a movie. It is definitely not your average teenage love story. Like EOcean said, it feels more 'real' and serious. A few situations even slightly reminded me of my brother and the relationship he had with his former wife. Although this story is completely different, thank God.
Maybe I need to watch the movie again to fully understand it, but I like that this movie also shows the not-so-great moment of a relationship, that's what makes it feel real. Most normal romantic movies have this "In the end everything is well and everybody is happy" touch, but real life isn't always like that.

And I just realized, this is the third Anton movie I bought. I smell a trend here. lol

I just didn't like or buy the ending. The characters kind of drove me nuts by the end. Glad you liked it though :-)
