Generally it is safe to say that if a movie continually gets pushed back it is because it is no good.
Though Scott Mosier is directing re-shoots and re-editing it, and Kevin Smith made a cameo.
Who the bleedin' f'ing hell is Scott Mosier and where did this guy get this stuff? Somebody ELSE is tinkering with it? That's not what Kyle said.

The name Scott Mosier somehow rings a bell. Not sure why, though. I don't really recognize any of his stuff on IMDb to a point where his name should sound familiar. Maybe we'll be lucky and Kyle is gonna get back to us after Sean gives him our letter. Don't really think he will, but you never know. You know, maybe Kyle will be busy with another project and someone else will have to take care of the re-shoots.

RE-SHOOTS. Don't you get it? When you let someone else do re-shoots and re-edits on a movie, that means something is terribly, terribly wrong. Like the Weinsteins FIRED Kyle. If this is true, then the movie is in terrible trouble and Kyle is helping the studio cover it up by saying that they gave him more money to go off and shoot stuff he wanted to originally but couldn't afford. There is no way in hell Kyle just went, "Ah, OK, let this other guy tinker with my movie, I'm busy elsewhere." But I'll still promote it for you at the cons. No way.
Something is incredibly fishy here. We've gotta find a way to get to the bottom of it.

Uh-oh! I hope that theory about the Weinsteins fired Kyle is not true! That would be BAAAAD!!! And I don't think Kyle would leave that project alone.

Just read on IMDb that they showed 45 MINUTES of the movie at C4. And I guess Kyle said once again that they gave him the money to go back and do some scenes he couldn't afford. Looks like they'll be doing it in September. Maybe this Mosier thing is just a flat out lie or rumor with nothing to back it up. I asked the poster to cite his source and he has not done so yet.
Maybe Sean will post about the C4 panel sometime soon and clear things up a bit.

So is this going to be another movie we thought was gonna be great that turns out crap? God, I hope not! I've invested emotionally in this movie, I'd be really irked if it turned out to be anything less that I'm expecting. Maybe I should start scaling down my expectations with all these apparently bad news rolling in. So Fanboys might suck. Okay. No, not okay. But I guess another disappointment I'll get over eventually.
Deb, maybe I should come over in August (or some time later this year) anyway and we'll just have a good time, no matter what happens with Fanboys. I'll think about it. And let's see what Sean has to tell when he gets back home. All the more important now that Infestation turns out to be something really cool.

I just found this old-ish snippet on some website and Scott Mosier did some work on Fanboys already, it seems. Maybe that's why his name came up on IMDb now. That's probably also why I thought the name sounded familiar.
Kevin Smith did NOT direct/delay Fanboys
Kevin SmithLast week we relayed a quote from Fanboys star Chris Marquette, who claimed that the film had been delayed due to sound effects rights and a cameo from Clerks director Kevin Smith.
"Kevin Smith had seen it, and [he] came in and was like, 'Oh, man. I love it.' So they let him write and direct one of his own scenes in it. So they added that in," co star Chris Marquette revealed. He went on to also blame George Lucas for the film's delay.
We were extremely excited to receive an e-mail from Kevin Smith, who added a little needed clarification.
"That's not exactly true. Scott Mosier, my longtime producer, was brought in to reedit the flick. Based on his involvement, I jumped in for a quick cameo during a re-shoot day that'd been scheduled long before I'd ever seen the flick. While I did write the scene, I didn't direct it," Smith wrote. "The flick's good - I don't wanna give the impression it's not."
"I just wanted to make sure I didn't get credit I didn't deserve, as far as directing my scene; that was Scott Mosier (as Kyle [Newman], the director of the flick, was busy on the Revenge of the Nerds remake during the Fanboys pick-ups). I only got the chance to be in the flick because Harvey Weinstein asked me to do the cameo during the pick-ups re-shoot."
So there you have it, direct from the Kevin Smith's keyboard.

Yeah, we already posted that a while back. Guess I forgot about the Mosier thing. OK, I'm fine now. Mosier directed the Smith cameo and re-edited. Big deal. We'll hear more after this weekend with C4 going on and everything.

Oh, they better!!! Geez. Now here's a way to really annoy the fans. If things keep going this way, I'm gonna burn my Fanboys t-shirt and sit the hell on my money instead of spending a whole shitload of it on a trip to London just for Fanboys.
Okay, so I'm royally pissed off now. But maybe Sean has some good news to report when he gets back that'll restore my faith.

Come on, it's not THAT bad. I kinda like the tagline. I've calmed down now that I know the Mosier thing was only about the Smith cameo. I can't believe they showed 45 MINUTES of the movie at C4! Man, I feel ripped off now with that dinky little 1o-minute reel I saw in Orlando!

I'm gonna wait with calming down until I've heard from Sean. Getting Mosier in to replace Kyle might still be real, who knows. I bet those 45 minutes they showed were really cool. And I wonder how much of the scenes from the edit they have now are gonna fall victim in the editing room to make room for all the new stuff they'll be shooting. I swear, if this is gonna be another movie where they cut all the cute scenes, I'm gonna run in circles, cursing whoever is responsible to heaven and back.
And WHY do they come up with a crappy poster like that when they have all these great promo photos?? Like the Abbey Road thing. Man! If only I could design their poster!!

The poster is probably only a "teaser" which is why it doesn't feature the cast yet. And someone at IMDb just confirmed that Mosier is a collaborator of Smith's and that his contribution was only directing the Smith cameo and doing a re-edit last year. I think it's safe to say that all is good considering the fact that Kyle is directing the additional scenes and he's still doing the cons.
Don't give yourself an anyeurism over nothing.

Yeah, well, there's my German pessimism again, you see.
Man, I wish Kyle and the Weinsteins would realize just how much bad press and comments the latest pushback is generating. I've read some comments online on different boards tonight when I was looking for more info, and it was almost all bad when they talked about the January pushback. Basically the same what we're saying: That they're re-shooting because something really wrong, like the movie not doing well at test screenings and so they're trying to save it by adding new stuff. Even if that's not true (which we don't know), that's what the fanboys/fangirls community is seeing and thinking. It is really is doing the movie more bad than good at this point. And I don't think we'll ever get any really honest comment out of anyone, least of all Kyle, and especially not at C4.
And forgive my frankness, even for a teaser poster, this one SUCKS. At the bottom it should say: Coming to our galaxy in 2012, maybe even 2013. And "five friends stole their way into history"?? Presumtuous much? If it were true, this wouldn't cause so much as a blip, even in the fanboys/fangirls community. Oh, and just in case you hadn't noticed, I don't like the poster at all.
And you know what? The guys at Forbidden Planet (one of the biggest comic book/fantasy/sci fi store chains in Europe) in Dublin hadn't even heard about the movie when I asked one of them about it. He thought it was a movie that was already released that he didn't know. No, not quite, geek.
Ah, I'm gonna shut up now and go to bed. Hopefully tomorrow I'll be in a more agreeable mood.

I'm watching this two-hour special about Celebration IV on a channel called G4 that's mostly about gaming, but a bit about sci-fi and horror. They taped this on Friday which is when the Fanboys thing was. We'll see if it gets a mention. The 501st got a shout-out on camera. That was pretty cool.
Bit of useless trivia, I feel right at home looking at the venue for the event. It's the LA Convention Center where I've been repeatedly for the Creative Screenwriting EXPO and Great American Pitch Fest. I know that place like the back of my hand. LOL!

Wow...the Scott Mosier thing really got you guys going, lol.
Hello everyone!! I have access to a laptop for a few minutes and wanted to post couple of things real quick.
Scott Mosier AKA Snowball (For those of you who have seen Clerks ) is not taking over director duties from Kyle. He was just helping out on Kevin Smith's cameo scene. If you've ever had a chance to watch a commentary track or behind the scenes features on an of Smith's DVDs, you'll see that the 2 guys are practically joined at the hip. So there's no cover-up or conspiracy. Thank goodness for that!
C4 is going great and I'm bummed that there is only one day left before I come back home. It's been pretty crowded here, but at the same time, I've been able to do ALMOST everything I have wanted to do. So with that being said, I have good news and bad news....:)
I was in costume friday morning , hanging out near the entance of the lobby, taking pictures with people, when Matt and Kyle walked up to me to say hello. I thought it was cool that they recognized me from my costume alone. I said Hello and they asked if I was going to the Fanboys presentation later on today. I said of course! so about an hour before the show, I went back to my car, changed out of my costume and jumped in line for the 45 minute Fanboys presentation . As I was about 20 people away from he entrance, they closed the doors and said the room was full!! They were showing it in a fairly small room and clearly did not anticipate such a large audience. It was good to see so many people that were excited about the movie, but I was pissed that I couldn't get in. I wasn't the only person either as there were some mild confrontations at the door between security and fans who were turned back. I stood around and just watched for a bit until the tension died down. So I walked away, as my day had truly been ruined, and I returned back to the hotel really depressed and upset that I couldn't see the presentation and that I was gonna let you guys all down.
I knew there was going to be another panel the following day with Kyle and the cast and I was not going to miss that one. I showed up early(Sat morn) and made sure I was in line well before the show started. I ran into Linda(MaraJadeFan) who was also a fellow extra and she said that the 45 min presentation was pretty cool and it got a standing ovation. She said that the comic books were not given out because they weren't ready at the time, and there was no word on the teaser poster. She can definitely give you a better report of the 45 minutes shown. I was still upset that I had missed the 45 minutes, but I had a renewed hope that I could still see the poster and get a comic book. As we were walking in, I saw Sam and Jay talking away, so I went up to Sam and said hello. I was like, "You may not remember me, but.." and Sam was like"HEY! Yea! How's it going? Why aren't you in armor!?" lol. He headed off to the back stage area and I took a seat that would give me a good view of the big screen and the stage.
Well, I'm short on time and I will elaborate more later, but they showed about 6 different clips of the movie. Opening title scene/halloween party, Peyote scene w/ Danny Trejo, Planning to still the print at the Halloween party, running from the cops in the van(This one got the biggest response in my opinon, because of how the scene ends...I'll explain more later!), they showed them going into the prop room and running from security and going into the trash compactor.oh, and the guys playing video games and Linus and Sam's argument.
I gotta tell you, the scenes were funny. Even though I know the story and have read the script, I sat there getting goosebumps because I saw that this movie was finally happening plus there were little additions thrown in that weren't in the script tha were hilarious, and maybe it was just because I was in a room full of fellow Star Wars fans, but everyone was loving it. It was great.
Oh and I was able to get the comic books. I was only able to grab a few but I can at least show ya what they contained(It's a prequel story of them confronting some Trekkies, lol. 3 years b4 the fanboys movie takes place-it's where Linus and Sam have their last blow-out fight)
There was also a little promo ad which is where that teaser poster came from. Basically it's a contest to win a walk-on role during the re-shoot. They want you to submit a video showing why you are the ultimate fanboy and the winner gets to be in a scene when they all get together again to start filming. I'm not crazy about the teaser poster either, but the good thing is....it's just that, a teaser.
There's lots more to share...I wish I had more time!! But I will post more later!! Miss you guys and hope you all are doing okay!! Bye for now

Hey Sean, thanks for the quick (or not so quick--hehe) report there. Bummer that you couldn't watch the 45 minutes they showed. Well, we're all gonna watch the finished product eventually, so... So there really are comic books out now? Wow. And they're giving them away for free? That's cool. Can you scan it for us?
So, are we gonna enter the contest to win a role for the re-shoots? We must be the biggest Chris fangirls around, if maybe not the biggest SW fangirls. But, hey, we were the first to ever have a Fanboys t-shirt and calendar! Three of us have original props from one or more of Chris's movies. I have a pic of Chris as Jedi Knight pinned to my bookshelf right here next to my desk. I have an Abbey Road Fanboys collage pinned to the wall behind my desk at work. I have a Fanboys collage that Chris signed. We were there from day one when we heard about this movie. Maybe I should put that into a little speech, shoot a little film with my digicam and send it in.
Sounds like you didn't have a chance to give Kyle the letter, did you?
Hope you have tons of more fun at the con today. You might want to know that Chris e-mailed today and told us he safely arrived in Bulgaria and that Bulgaria is treating him well.
