Re: Grey's Anatomy

I have lived/worked in an environment like that and I learned to survive it. I know about TR's problems, my best friend's gay too.
Of course it's inappropriate from Isaiah Washington to say all those things about TR. But sometimes you can't choose with whom you have to work together. That's why I think they should stay professional. I mean, Isaiah is a professional actor. He should know about that.

Re: Grey's Anatomy

Isaiah is a professional jerk.  I don't care how much "therapy" he goes through.  I would not wanna work with the guy.  And I think if you took a poll, you'd find that most fans of the show and most of the actors on the show would rather Isaiah go than to lose TR.  Life's too short to endure assholes.  TR wouldn't have a problem getting another job in a heartbeat.  If he's going to feel crappy at work everyday, why should he stay?

He did? Oh, THANK GOD indeed! The show wouldn't be the same without him ... and yeah, I am also curious what they're going to do with him. No bad things, I hope!

Re: Grey's Anatomy

well, i have to admitt that i do not agree with the general opinion. i have no knowledge about the actors playing george and burke so i am only talking about the charachters in the series.
but as season 3rd progressed george and izzie became my least favourite people. i mean i always dislike the ones that all the crap happens to( all shows seem to have one ). i mean it becomes so obviously a script. izzie is the one with the kid, the puor background , the dead lover and now the twisted love affair. come on!!!!
well in this show is very weir but i come to like the ones i disliked first and dislike the ones i liked. so now i like addison a lot. and callie.
and i like burke and cristina. i don't get the need of the scriptwriters to distroy them. they're so funny!!! unrealistic as a couple, but funny!!!
but somehow i hope they will stop distroing everybody's life because it's not really what i think the series was meant to be about.
oh, well, thank god for the witty dialog because for me the plot in the last few episodes was not very good.

Re: Grey's Anatomy

Callie has become my second favorite character after George, so I HATE what he's doing with Izzy.  But I think Izzy's part in the whole thing is way worse than his.  Why is she suddenly in love with him?  It doesn't really ring true for me either, Irina.  And I hate seeing Callie in pain.

Same here. Although I can't see George neither with Callie nor with Izzie. George and Izzie were always best friends to me, but not a couple. And George and Callie was kinda weird. It didn't work for me either. But well, I still have to watch a bunch of episodes and then I'm going to be curious about Season 4.

Wow. Now I don't know whether to be happy or sad. I mean, I didn't like Isaiah that much, but he was Burke, so he was part of the show.

Re: Grey's Anatomy

Here's the skinny on Isaiah...

Isaiah Washington Fired from 'Grey's Anatomy'

Five months after igniting an uproar for using the term "f**got" to refer to fellow cast member T.R. Knight, Isaiah Washington has been removed from ABC's Grey's Anatomy. The announcement did not include the usual "to pursue other opportunities" wording, and Washington himself released a statement invoking the famous line from the movie Network: "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore." TV Guide columnist Michael Ausiello, who broke the story on the magazine's website Thursday, quoted a source as saying that Washington's slur was not the only thing that contributed to his dismissal -- that "there was a pattern of problematic behavior" involving him. Today's (Friday) Washington Post observed that while ABC confirmed the report of the firing to some news sources, it did not to ABC News, which cited "two sources with knowledge of the situation."

Re: Grey's Anatomy

this is why series eventually go bad. because the life of actors and their demands get in the way of the show. i am very sorry to hear that burke won't be on the show anymore. i really don't care what isaiah and tr do on their time, but now i will know that burke dissapeared because the actor was fired that kind of ruins the plot of the show for me.
oh, well.
that's why i love shows like friends and sex and the city , the actors staied toghether even if some of them did not like eachother.

Re: Grey's Anatomy

Yeah, it sucks when actors can't be professional and find a way to get along.  When their egos become so over-inflated that they care more about themselves and just basically say screw the show.

Isaiah as no one to blame but himself.  I'm afraid I can't feel sorry for him.  He had already been warned once before the incident that eventually cased the firing, but he did not listen.  And after the second on-set incident, after they told him he was going to have to take some sensitivity training, he did it a third time at the awards show.  Katherine Heigle got so angry at him that night that she gave a tearful interview backstage lamenting his inability to keep his mouth shut.  Nothing seemed to get through to this guy.  How many chances were they supposed to give him?

The producers understood that 1) TR is far more popular than Isaiah and he did nothing wrong so he deserved their backing. and 2) If they kept both actors on, the problem was not going to go away.  As it says in the article above, it wasn't just about Isaiah's Torrette's-like problem with calling TR awful names, "there was a pattern of problematic behavior" involving him.  Why would they want to wreck the show by letting one guy constantly upset the applecart?

I think it was the right decision and I'm glad they finally made it.

Agreed. I mean, I'm not sorry for Washington because he has been fired, I am just sad that Burke had to go because Washington couldn't keep his mouth shut. I won't miss Washington, but I wil definitely miss Burke on the show.

And now please tell me that Meredith and Derek are not going to break up in Season 4. I am certainly worried about my favorite show on TV at the moment. sad

Yeah, it's my favorite show too. I mean, after JoA of course. big_smile But since JoA has been cancelled, you could say that GA is my most favorite show of all shows which are still active. But I wouldn't say it's sick sometimes.

Oh, it's very sick sometimes.  Blowing up Kyle Chandler was pretty sick.  The woman with the giant tumor in her stomach --- very sick.  I'm sure you guys can remember other sick moments.

Re: Grey's Anatomy

Well, obviously my "sick threshold" is way higher. I studied biology at university. I had to disect cockroaches and fish. I had to play around with aneasthetized Drosophila and (oversharing alert!) rip the egg chambers from their bodies. I had to prep imaginal discs from writhing Drosophila larvae. I've taken apart a cow's eye. I didn't like any of it, but it's part of the curriculum, I guess. That's why I ended up taking plants apart instead of animals. wink

Of course now I have a boring office job, so go figure. big_smile

Re: Grey's Anatomy

Fruit fly.

drosophila.jpg

This looks like a male...

This is a little nicer of a picture:

schwarzbauch_taufliege_01.jpg

They're the annoying things that'll invade your kitchen when you let fruits lie around for too long. Hence the name. They're one of the most studied insects in molecular genetics, probably the model organism in molecular biology. They're really interesting little things, if you're into that kind of thing. I'm currently reading a book called "Coming To Life" by Nobel Prize winner Christiane Nüsslein-Volhard. It's a book about the popular science version of developmental genetics, very interesting. There's a lot of Drosophila genetics in it, but explained so that I think non-biologists can understand it as well.
