I think it's a wonderful little movie.  And it's not made for kids.  It's made for Star Wars geeks or maybe just sci-fi geeks of all ages.  They tried to dumb it down with those reshoots but since they let Kyle put the heart back in it, it's way more than some rude road comedy.  I dare say you'll enjoy it.  Might even choke you up a little bit at the end.  And our boy is very beautiful.

Awesome. I'm definitely going to try and get my hands on it very soon. I'm not a star wars "geek", but I have seen the movies so hopefully I'll get some of that stuff.

Yeah, that's the same art they used for the American DVD, which I hated.  TeeJay made a revised cover with Chris's face on it.  I even had one guy who worked in a video store say he'd replace the cover with our art on their copies because he was offended by that cover too.  The taglines are different.  Silly, yeah, but they just really had no idea how to sell this movie so I'm not surprised.

Well yeah, it screams the type of movie that I would probably pass on, specifically one aimed at teenage guys. But I won't pass on it, because you guys seemed to be relatively complimentary about it...well and it HAS Chris in it, so it's definitely worth a renting from the shop if nothing else.

The Lovely Bones is a good movie but the book is better. I definitely recommend reading the book first.

I haven't seen the Lovely Bones movie yet...but don't know if I want to from what I've heard about the movie, they focused on the wrong parts of the book? I don't know, the book was pretty amazing but it seems like they left out a bunch of pivotal points to make a movie. Since you've read the book first, do you really think it's worth seeing? Lol, I'm just contemplating whether I want to bother or not.. smile

crappy small quality I know, but taken with my camera phone. It shows you which picture was used though, yeah, Chris' head is covered, so that's...well not cool.
Since you can't read the text in there
above the title:
This is one helluva road trip to a galaxy far far away
below the title:
dude activate your lightsabers

Personally, I think the poster is a bit dumb, but hey I wasn't gonna turn it down considering it was $2 and, you get to see Chris' body, if not his face ( :doh: )

#30 Re: Chris On Screen » Fanboys » 18 Jan 10 :: 02:54

I have yet to see this, I think it releases on dvd here 21st of the month, so hopefully soon! I did however manage to score a movie poster for $2 from the local video store. Yay!

I like that he took advantage, just because someone has a special power/burden/quirk doesn't make them a saint, if it did the character would be much less likable because they'd be too unrealistic.

I haven't seen the movie yet, I will when it comes to cinemas here because I love that book, but I really wish that Christian Bale was Henry not Eric Bana, to me Christian Bale just had the perfect Henry look (and the guy can definitely act). Rachel McAdams is a great actress though.

That Adam/Joan scene is one of my favourites, it's very raw, but I think it characterises their relationship well.

Yeah, you really want Adam to believe her, I understand why he doesn't but you still hurt for Joan.

#34 Re: Joan of Arcadia » Silence » 20 Aug 09 :: 11:08

I loved Silence, but it was a bit trippy. Intentionally so, though I suppose.

Cool. Yeah, hopefully it will be easier for me to find it in a store since I'm in Wellington now, and you know, there's actually stores with a decent variety of stock. lol. Not hanging out for a theatre release though.

Kyle posted on Facebook today that Fanboys is coming to theaters in Australia, probably limited and probably beginning of June. Details to follow. That doesn't make any sense to me at all. Not that anything release-related concerning Fanboys ever made any sense...

-TeeJay

That's good, hopefully that will make it cheaper if I can actually buy it here and not have to take the xrate and postage into it. I do want to buy this movie. I certainly can't afford to do that with all of Chris' movies, usually it's renting, but I do want to get this one.

I wonder if it will come to cinemas here? I doubt it. And it seems weird that they are releasing it at cinemas and on dvd pretty much simulatenously.

Cool. Thanks guys, once again that was a great read/listen. I agree about his point on religion making somepeople happy and not for others. it works for somepeople, for others it does not. Personally, for myself it does not but that doesn't mean I'm at odds with those who are religious.

And yay for liking Bon Iver. smile

#39 Re: Chris On Screen » Fanboys » 12 Mar 09 :: 10:01

I agree with Deb. There's very few actors that I even regularly check their credits on IMDB. Yet, there's quite a few who I like enough to make me rent a movie. Usually when I go to the video shop to rent, I'll end up taking out a movie that I've never heard of before with someone I like in it. I'm not a big movie person at all, so maybe that plays into it,  but.

On the 'yay' side, I'm looking forward to seeing the movie when I can. I quite enjoy Star Wars, at least the first three... and maybe I did used to have a poster for Episode II on my wall...even if I only endured Episode I. :embarrassed:

Yeah. Carl & Suzy were very cute. It was nice to see Chris have a good romantic storyline through the movie, it made for lots of cute Chris moments, too many to list really, and with his mother being the one that's sick, it was nice that he wasn't moping around the whole movie because of it, but had the Suzy crush/relationship thing going on too. I liked Suzy, her jumping off the bridge thing was especially cool, and I liked Carl's protective stand in front of her when Chauncey's got the gun.

Did you see our adorable Carl booty cap?

No...not as of yet. But I am off to the gallery (presuming that is where it's housed) to seek that out now, then.

#44 Re: Chris On Screen » SPOILERS!!! Discuss GRADUATION here!!! » 16 Jan 09 :: 04:23

I went to the video store yesterday and amongst the rows and rows of dumb movies (there is seriously nothing good out at the moment) I spotted this in the new release section. I must say it was actually quite a good movie, I don't mean to act so surprised but I was, naturally, renting it on the merit of having Chris in it and not anything else, and last time that happened I picked up The Invisible, which I kind of thought was a bit on the crappy side for a movie.

Lots of very nice cute Chris in it. Also, Jackson was a very nice unexpected bonus in that department. I liked that they got away with it, especially since the beginning made it seem like that was a very very slim to none chance. I liked that Jackson went on to become a bank robber, very cool little ending for that character, a little unconvential for a movie ending, which was only a good thing.  Chauncy was a bit of a dick, but I suppose he was meant to be so we would root for Polly/Jackson. Although, again, it's cool that they did kind of all go their own way and not try for a cheesy tie up.

All in all, I did really enjoy the movie, more than I had anticipated.

#45 Re: Off Topic Stuff » Obama won! » 09 Nov 08 :: 02:23

in romania it is very easy ( which doesn't mean there weren't cheating suspicions from time to time sad ). in romania anybody that is a romanian citizen and is over 18 years old gets to vote. they just have to go to a voting booth.

same thing in NZ. but then it's an entirely diferent political system since it's parlimentary. it's easy as anything two ticks one for the party and one for the regional/electrate candidate. Then seats for parliment get allocated according to the party vote and the electrate/regional winners. the coalition that can get a majority of seats wins. thats pretty much it. government formed smile .

it was the nz general election yesterday and I voted for the first time. The party I wanted in power won, so it was pretty good result. The nine years of a labour government is over, so that's cause for celebration in my book.

#46 Re: Square Eyes » Who's your favorite character or 'ship on all your favorite shows? » 23 Oct 08 :: 11:49

Oooh fun, I ship so much.

Let's start with past shows because they are the best shows. I will break each show's ships into three sections for clarity. R for Romantic, F for Friendship/Family, and C for Characters. Yes, I feel like being super organised tonight.

Joan of Arcadia: Romantic: Luke/Grace, Adam/Joan. Friendship: Adam/Grace. Characters: Adam, Grace.
Roswell: R: Michael/Maria (no. 1 ship of all time), Max/Liz, Kyle/Tess. F: Sheriff Valenti'Kyle. C: Pretty much all (minus Jesse). Yes, even Tess.
Boy Meets World: R: Cory/Topanga. F: Cory/Shawn (no, 1 friendship of all time), Eric/Mr Feeny. C: Cory, Shawn, Eric, Mr Feeny.
Gilmore Girls: R: Jess/Rory, Luke/Lorelai. F: Luke/Jess. C: Jess, Luke.
Invasion: F: Underlay/Russell. C: Underlay, Russell, Jesse, Kira, Muriel, Lewis.
Black Books: F: Bernard/Manny/Fran. C: Bernard (no. 1 character of all time)
Veronica Mars: R: Logan/Veronica. F: Veronica/Keith
Dead Like Me: C: George, Rube, Mason, Roxy.
Wonderfalls: R: Aaron/Mahandra, Jaye/Eric. C: Jaye, Aaron.

Present Shows
Friday Night Lights: R: Tim/Lyla, Matt/Julie, Coach/Tammi. C: Tim, Matt, Coach, Jason.
LOST: R: Sawyer/Kate. C: Sawyer, Juliet, Ben.
Skins (this is technically a present show, but the cast is gonna be replaced for next season so these ships are kinda past): R: Sid/Michelle. F: Sid/Tony, Anwar/Maxxie. C: Sid, Chris.
Dexter: F: Dexter/Debra. C: Dexter, Maria.

that list is not exhaustive, I most probably have forgotten some.

I wasn't a big Kevin fan to begin with but by Season 2 he had really grown on me and I still enjoy his scenes. That character worked out really well, as did many of JoA.

and yeah Jason is pretty good in other stuff too.

Has anybody noticed the Dawson's Creek references in the show?  I wasn't a big fan of DC back in the day but I've noticed.
1. I think it's filmed at the same school Dawson's Creek was.<---Then maybe since it is, that's maybe why they put the references in.
2. Meredith Monroe (Andie on DC) plays Michelle Turner the author in "Double Dutch."
3. Mark Matkevich (Drew on DC) plays Roger.
4. Ian Bohen (Anderson on DC) plays Peter, I think a lawyer with Beth, on "Wealth of Nations."
5. Joan and Adam go on a trip to Dawson State in "Game Theory."
There's probably more but that's all I can think of now. (if I can think of more I will add)
I just think it's weird.
Maybe I'm just reading too much into it. hmm

I only watched Dawson's Creek s1-4 incl. & the finale, mostly because I'm a Pacey/Joey fan above all. I tend to stop watching shows when my couple breaks up sometimes. :embarrassed:

I noticed Roger=Drew (I loved Drew, he was cool) and Andie (whom I never liked). Now that you mention it I remember that the uni trip was to Dawson State, but I didn't connect that t the time. I didn't notice the others. I think there's quite a few DC references in other teen shows, which is funny because DC itself was so heavy on the pop culture references.
