CGI = computer generated image. Animated characters are CGI. Basically everything that's on screen that's not "real" (as in real actor or real prop) but put on film by a computer is CGI. Right? It can be special effects, like exploding starships, or it can be walking, talking, moving characters, like Jar-Jar Binks, Shrek, Gollum or, say, Jac Weir.

And stupid-ass would only apply to Jar-Jar, I'd like to think. smile Could it be that you haven't actually seen Episode I, Anne? I think you should before you watch Fanboys! (I don't have it on DVD, though.) Jar-Jar Binks was a CGI character introduced in Episode I, and he was annoying as hell. He talked very funny in a really off-beat voice in weirdo English. He certainly got on my nerves, and my personal opinion is that he was as much use to the movie as a hole in the head. A lot of fans and non-fans alike thought the same way. Is there actually anyone who liked him?

Deb, Anne, I think I told you a while ago that I had another idea for a really simple Dorquette t-shirt for the three of us, right? Well, this is what I was thinking of:

DorquetteShirt_TJ.jpg

This would be the back. On the front we could put a little emblem on one side. Maybe one with our URL in it? And the eyebrows, like on my first Dorquette shirt? Or just some writing. Maybe:
www.chris-marquette.com
Home Of The Dorquettes

Any better ideas? I bought a simple long-sleeved shirt yesterday, I think I might want to use that one for my Dorquette shirt. It's this sort of dark-ish blue-green color. Not really turquoise, a little more blue than green. We call the color "petrol" in German. I'll put the numbers on there in black. It's gonna be a little less in-your-face than black on a white shirt.

And if you want similar shirts, let me know. You'd have to send me the shirts, though. Deb, I can take one for you home with me when I come over. We can go look for one together in Atlanta, maybe. And you can pick any color you like. I like us being similar, yet unique. And of course you'd have Samsy-Marie and Sisterdebmac put where I have TeeJay. What numbers do you want? I picked 24 because it's the day I was born: January 24.

I just read this, even thought it's not exactly brand new news:

Jarjar Has Cameo In New Comedy 'Fanboys'
by UPI Wire
Jun 12, 2006

CHICAGO, June 12, 2006 (UPI) -- The star of the Weinstein Co. comedy "Fanboys," Sam Huntington, warns that "Star Wars" computer character Jar Jar Binks will make an appearance in the film.

"Jar Jar appears in the movie in a very, very funny way that I can't reveal to you, because it's absolutely hysterical," Huntington said. "It's one of my favorite moments in the whole movie," Zap2it.com reported Monday.

The "Fanboys" cast includes Dan Fogler, Kristen Bell, Jay Baruchel and Chris Marquette.

And we know all about JarJar's appearance, don't we? wink

I'm glad Steph liked Jump and Chris. He looks British? Hm.... I don't agree. If anything, I think he looks.... South European. Italian maybe. Or Greek. But let's not categorize him. He looks like Chris. And we love that, right? smile

So, has she shown you any of "her" dude yet? What's he like?

My Chrissue of the day is that I just confessed my Chris-infatuation to my friends Matt and Steff. (Well, Steff knew about it before.) I did show them our preliminary site too. And explained about the eyebrows. And Matt said: Whoa, those eyebrows go pretty far around the eyes at the corners there. And I went: Yeah, that's what I love about them! smile

And I showed Matt the "friggin' cold" clip because he lives in Canada and he's the kind of guy who would get a smirk out of that. And he did. He said he hasn't had a Ken doll moment, though.

Off to bed now.

Deb, I think you'll like the German Tic Code DVD cover much better, then:

A lot of Chris in that one. Yeah, I was also a little disappointed not to find Chris on the AG cover. Ah, well, that's the film industry for you. Put the faces of the people that might be recognized more easily on the cover, it'll attract more buyers. Which is probably true, but a little pic with Chris would totally have fit on there too.

I'm glad that "Adam" was the origin of much laughter. big_smile Have a great weekend, you two! I hope Anne is having a good weekend away as well.

I don't know why, but this thought suddenly occurred to me while I was looking at some Secret Service screencaps. We keep yammering on how much we hate Bonnie and how it was so out of character for Adam to sleep with that skank, but what we (or at least I) never said is that it was well chosen to cast Alexis Dziena as Bonnie.

I'm quite sure as a person, she's a really nice and pretty girl. But we totally believed the skank she showed us in JoA, didn't we? That must mean she did her job very well. And truth be told, I was never interested in her enough to even look up her real name. To me she was always this blind spot you'd rather forget.

So: Well done, Alexis. You gave us a character we absolutely love to hate. I just felt like mentioning this.

Here's her filmography at IMDb.com:

The DVD has a different cover than the black one we've seen so far. Amazon.com now shows this cover:

I think I like the black one better, although this one's not so bad. Oh, and Deb? The DVD shipped yesterday. You should get it in a day or two, probably some time next week. Can you please put a spoiler warning for if you talk about the specials? I don't really wanna know what's on there before I get the chance to see it for myself.

#8363 Re: All About Chris » If The Dorquettes Made Chris's Demo Reel, It Would Have To Include... » 01 Sep 06 :: 08:28

First of all, here's some explanation of a term that I had never heard before, so I'm quite sure Anne won't have a clue either:

BALLS TO THE WALL
To push to the limit, go all out, full speed.
A very colorful phrase, one needs to be careful when using "balls to the wall". Although its real origin is very benign, mos people assume it is a reference to testicles. In fact it is from fighter planes. The "balls" are knobs atop the plane's throttle control. Pushing the throttle all the way forward, to the wall of the cockpit, is to apply full throttle.

To push to the limit. Oh yes, that's what he does. He throws himself into each and every role that he does, as best as he can to give the audience the best possible full-on character the way he intends him to be like. I would have to agree with that. I'd love to see Chris become something of the new Dustin Hoffman and I'd love to follow his career until he's 68. Not that I think I'll live that long, but, hey, you never know. I mean, he's barely 21 (Chris, I mean), and look at all the amazing work he's already done. I don't wanna jinx it when I say: It can only get better, but I sure hope it will!

What he also is, and Melissa named her website after that: versatile. He's done different things and he's marvelled at pretty much each of them. We have yet to see his full range, but I'm quite sure we will at some point. I, for one, would love to see him play a really through-and-through bad guy. A really evil character. I mean, yes, we've had James, but he wasn't the true bad guy that you hate and despise and would want to stay away from as badly as you can. I wanna watch Chris as Mr. Evil and hate him for it. I mean, as the character he's playing. Not that I'd like to see him be the bad guy all the time, typecasting isn't too cool. But Chris is way too talented at different genres to be typecast any time soon.

http://www.chris-marquette.com/media/vi … 9_2x10.wmv

Anne, or can you maybe fix those links if you have time? Should be the 06media_main.htm page that you need to edit. Make sure you get the most current version off the 'net before you update. Any other broken links?

#8365 Re: Chris On Screen » Fanboys » 31 Aug 06 :: 22:52

Sean and Ken: I saw that someone posted another link to the Fanboys pics at IMDb. It's the gallery of a Veronica Mars website in the UK. I have contacted the administrator of the site and asked very nicely for them to remove the pics. She (the admin, she's called Andrea) was so nice about it, she said she'd take the pics down right away and that she would be very grateful for any news I can send her or even unofficial pics. I'd really like to send her one or two tidbit pictures of Kristen at your party. Can I do that? She might want to put them up on her site, but I'm quite sure that if I tell her not to, she won't.

But then again, we have these pictures in our gallery too, and once our site goes live, anyone can save them from there and reuse them. And you guys were okay with that, so I'm not seeing why Andrea can't put them in her gallery. I can edit you Mos Alba guys out of them. I don't know if you like the idea of your faces being all over Kristen Bell sites. smile

I'm so glad to find that there aren't only jerks out there (like IMDb sometimes suggests) but also really nice people who will be very courteous about you asking them to take down some really damn awesome pics. And I'd really like to thank Andrea for being so kind with one or two very exclusive Kristen-in-private pics. (Sean, I sent her the scan of the bumper sticker you uploaded, since these are officially released now anyway.)

Oh, and this is the link to Andrea's site: http://www.vmuk.org/index.php

Yelchin sounds Jewish somehow. If it's anything like we would pronounce it in German, it would be ... well, Yelchin. I can't describe the 'ch' sound for this one because you don't have anything like it in English. But it doesn't sound like Yelssin. But, hey, if it's Yelssin, it's Yelssin. Maybe I should record the 'ch' for you as a sound file. smile

I heard on the radio that 24 got a few Emmys and Grey's Anatomy didn't get as many as expected.
