#1026 Re: Joan of Arcadia » Random JoA Stuff... » 20 Sep 10 :: 00:28

Netflix recommended for me a silent French movie (that did have english subtitles thank you very much!) called Passion of Joan the Arc.  Its about her final hours, execution and death.  Really interesting, especially even just the history of the film itself.  Recommend for Joan fans and movie fans.

It did get me thinking- if the show had continued do you think our Joan would have had a similar fate as the real Joan of Arc?  Just a question.  I think with it being a "family" television show she wouldn't have been burned at the stake :)but might have gone through some other trial.  What do you think?  Just was curious! wink

Have you read about our 2010 Chris birthday project?  I'd love it if you could participate!

I've been good Deb.  We started school July 12th and its just been crazy since so I took a break for a while.  Things have finally started to "slow" down a bit.  Glad to "see" everyone again and to talk Chris!  I will re-read the Chris b-day project and consider participating.

No plans this weekend for labor day.  Your schedule fall sounds nice this semester!  Lucky duck.  Take advantage of the four day weekend!

You know what I noticed recently? Toy shops don't sell stuffed animals looking like REAL elephants. They sell all kinds of animals looking like their real relatives, but not with elephants. Elephants always look like giant mouses with loooong noses. The only real-looking stuffed elephant I found was at our IKEA store.

lol Never thought about it but its true. I teach kindergarten and all the elephants for letter activities do kind of look like mice or anteaters with big ears!

Chris took a 37% jump up on the StarMeter at IMDb this week.  I wish his new credits would get posted already.

What does this exactly mean?  Is it a percentage of how many hits his page has gotten? Sorry for the random question, just curious! wink

I think the general idea is that his friends have become so messed up on drugs that they're "turning into monsters".  His girlfriend/roommate whatever (Di) has completely tripped out of her mind.  And then pretty much everything that happens after he goes to his room and smokes the joint is a drug hallucination.  It's set in the 70's, and it just kinda fits that era.

But I can certainly see someone who's never done a drug in her life being baffled by it though.  LOL!

I never really thought of it that way. I like your ideas, Deb.

Just watched it. Definately felt it was weird. I found it rather confusing. I Think your explanation is dead on.  I was going for just another sci fi animal / human series! lol

I do agree that Chris narrating was fantastic and that he should do more of that.  Even audio books or something!

Sounds like a long, hard trip.  Sorry to hear about your loss, Lindsey!

I actually know people from Van! lol

That's funny.  What a small world! Thank you for the condolences.  I'm glad I actually went to the retreat. It was nice to be around positivity after the funeral from Friday.

Anyone else taking exciting road trips?  Safe travels!

#1035 Re: Off Topic Stuff » Road Trippin' » 17 Jul 10 :: 15:11

I drove 300 miles  round trip yesterday for a dear friend's funeral, now I have to turn around and drive back (on the same highway) about 80 miles for a teachers retreat in a little town called  Van Texas.  I ironically enough went to bible camp there growing up so all I'm thinking about is 20 - 40 year old teachers doing the  zip line together like they are high school students lol

Just got back from Paris myself.  It was an amazing trip.  I am already going through europe withdrawel today.  ITs such a liveable city and its so exciting to see people bustling about and taking public transportation in the mean time seeing amazing historic structures.  I miss the hustle and bustle and people watching.  We walked like 8 miles a day too and I kind of miss that as well.  I've already decided what apartment I want to live in when I move there! lol lol

I like Topher.  He does always seem to play the nervous guy type character though.  I haven't seen a ton of range out of him yet.  His most impressive work so far was in Traffic if you ask me.  And just think, between Chris and Topher, they make up one whole Christopher.  wink

Of course I'd always much rather our guy be THE guy.  But I'm just happy to see him flush with work again.  Baby steps.

Agree Deb, think we have a lot more to see from Topher and that he and Chris will have great chemistry.  I also really like Stana Katic, it will be interesting to see how she translates on the big screen.  Love her on Castle.

Although I love James Macevoy, Chris would have been AWESOME at that role in Wanted.  Too bad....  It would have been nice to see him as a regular on ER too.
